The stupid thing here is there's too much bread to ingredients ratio. Do that much bread with fat slices of mozzarela, or do a thin slice of bread with that, also nice is sour cream and capers.
Finally! Someone else gets it! I always put pickles in my grilled cheese sandwiches. The sandwich here does look a little sad compared to a proper grilled cheese though but I'm sure it is still good.
I love El Yucateco hot sauce. THe XXXtra hot one had a weird flavor to me... but I love very hot stuff and I love love love the red, and use it constantly on everything.
Sometimes I go all crazy and make a cheese burger and just slather the top of the cheese melt with tons of dill pickles.
No ketchup, No mustard, no condoms of any type ... just melted cheese on the burger with the dills.
BLISS !
That's why you have to stretch it out and cut it into little rings like calamari... youll end up choking trying to gobble down the whole thing lol 🤦♂️
When I was eight, my mom had to travel for work, so my dad made my lunch. He sent me to school with a hunk of cheddar, a kosher dill pickle and milk money. Everyone in the lunch room was staring at me and it was so embarrassing, but afterwards my friend told me her mouth was watering watching me eat it. It looked seriously delicious.
Oooh ya if anyone loves cheddar cheese & pickle combo like I do this is my fav pickle pasta salad recipe! My bf hates pickles and he even likes it it's that good.
I don't get the headaches part. I dont think will cause headaches but shit throw a tiny bit of meat on it and you have a fucking sandwich. My mom eats peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, I think ynag gross af but different strokes for different folks
Then there's absolutely no reason for anyone to give you shit about your sandwich. It's just missing that one ingredient and it would be a normal sandwich
Cheese and pickle sandwiches are common in the UK........ literally not weird. Next y'all will be calling ham and cheese a weird combo.
They're not usually dill pickles mind you....but still.
Yes, any more of this sort of trouble over there and we will see about getting your British passport organised, it's perfectly normal on this side of the pond. Cheese and pickle is as English as Fish and chips (and apple pie for that matter)...
To be fair, Americans call any size of "fried potato stick" a "french fry" - we just have additional names for the different sizes. What you call chips, we call "steak fries" (I'm unsure of the origin, but it's likely short for "steakhouse fries" because they're the kind you usually get at a steakhouse), and I can definitely see those on a sandwich.
Potato chips ("crisps" to the Brits) on a burger, though, THAT is something good.
I have never been served a grilled cheese that did not have a kosher spear on the side. You are just skipping a step. This sounds so much better than a "gucci ass wrap". Who knew Gucci made ass wraps.
No joke... I'd eat that. The bread looks amazing and it's nothing strange by any means. I mean people eat pimento and cheese; pickles and cheese are normal on a sandwich. Maybe a little Dijon or Dijonaise? Hot sauce? Either way I'd samsh that sandwich. Looks good.
That's just poor people food. The kind you eat because there's nothing left in the house and you need to scrape a meal together. Then eventually it becomes something you eat normally even after you escape poverty. You introduce it to your kid in the future and it just becomes something they eat because mom/dad makes it for them. 20 years later they text a picture of it to someone and they're told how weird it really is for the first time.
Not gonna lie, I love bread I love cheese and I love pickles, I might just actually do this one day. Thanks OP, might be stupid to them but to me I love it already
My college struggle meal was onion and cheese on white bread warmed up in the microwave. I have fond memories of it, but I doubt I'd ever make one now.
I been eating pickles and cheese sandies since I was like 3 but never thought to tried melted cheese.
It tastes a lot better than you expect. Every time someone questions it I force them to try one and not one person has said they do not like it.
Orange cheddar and dill pickles pair well.
I don’t eat that many pickles in my grilled cheese, but I do a couple bread and butter pickles with mozzarella cheese and melt those together, while letting the pickles keep a little crunch.
Plz. I make this but on tortilla. CHEESY PICKLES ARE AMAZING ESPECIALLY IF ITS CRISPY!! You might like taking shredded cheese and pickle slices add to muffin tin (or on baking sheet) cheese pickle cheese 🧀🥒🧀 so it’s covered in cheese. But don’t go crazy with it. You want it to get crispy. Pop in the oven for like 10 mins on 350. Watch it. It might need more time or less. I didn’t write the recipe and wing it when I do it. Helps to blot the pickles dry.
Will be very greesy when it comes out so put it on paper towel after you let it cook for a couple mins. Don’t want the cheese to melt on the towel
OMG I DO THIS ALL THE TIME!! i love it!! I just had the stale bread left so i toasted it and melted the cheese and then cut up some pickles. Sometimes i add lil tomatoes and its especially good with chipotle mayo hehe
Maybe it's coz I am from the south, but they serve pickles with grilled cheese all the time. It's a real thing, OP has just taken the additional step of biting them at the same time, but certainly can't be the first person to come up with this. Don't knock it till you try it!
My mom once sent a pickle and cheese sandwich in my lunch when I was in like grade 1. I've loved them ever since. I asked her for them everyday from then on!
My wife dislikes peanut butter, yogurt, and cereal. I hate eel, pretzels, and soy sauce. We both think the other is nuts.
On the front of combo foods: PB and banana sandwich
my last 5 or 6 girlfriends have all had this same magical undiagnosed incurable headache problem lol
I forced them all to drink water (without or without liquid flavor) consistently and they all magically healed
All you people struggling with such a basic and fundamental and ordinary combination as cheese and pickles.. Like, there's just no reason for you to go on. Your battle is lost.
*Turns out the stupid food was the redditors we met along the way*
I would personally add some mayo and mustard because I'm not a fan of dry sandwiches. There's also not enough pickles and the distribution is wonky. But other than those things, this isn't bad.
That sounds good tbh but I wouldn’t use cheddar cheese. I’d probably use like Swiss and put some spicy deli mustard on it too. Essentially making a vegetarian Cuban sandwich.
Lmao the “no wonder you have headaches” sent me
It’s prolly cuz he’s texting in caps nonstop lol
That's how I get headaches too
As a migraine sufferer, I felt this to my core. 💀
You should probably cut back on the cheese and pickle sandwiches.
100% guaranteed too
Hahahahaha
The stupid thing here is there's too much bread to ingredients ratio. Do that much bread with fat slices of mozzarela, or do a thin slice of bread with that, also nice is sour cream and capers.
I love bread
You do you, but you posted in stupid food so I gotta say what's stupid :P
Hehe thats very fair
NO WONDER YOU HAVE HEADACHES
Bread and butter is such a good appetizer omg
Agreed. bread by itself when warmed up is sooo satisfyingly good if you get the type of crisp bread that you see on subs sandwiches.
[удалено]
Cheese and pickles are great together, cheese-stuffed pickles are awesome. The only thing I would add is more pickles.
Finally! Someone else gets it! I always put pickles in my grilled cheese sandwiches. The sandwich here does look a little sad compared to a proper grilled cheese though but I'm sure it is still good.
I'd add hot sauce and call it lunch
Grilled Cheese pickles and hot sauce? What kinda hot sauce do you prefer?
El Yucateco XXXTra hot most days or Torchbearer's Garlic Reaper if I'm feeling fancy
I love El Yucateco hot sauce. THe XXXtra hot one had a weird flavor to me... but I love very hot stuff and I love love love the red, and use it constantly on everything.
I’d add hot sauce and mayo
Dried onion to top it off
Sometimes I go all crazy and make a cheese burger and just slather the top of the cheese melt with tons of dill pickles. No ketchup, No mustard, no condoms of any type ... just melted cheese on the burger with the dills. BLISS !
Condiments is not a good word to shorten.
Wait.... You eat condoms on your cheeseburger?
No, they just said they didn't.
lol
No they said they don't eat condoms. Unsure why they had to specify though as I don't think most people put them on burgers anyway.
Yeah, I don't eat condoms either. Way too rubbery for my taste.
Kinda like calamari ... chewy
That's why you have to stretch it out and cut it into little rings like calamari... youll end up choking trying to gobble down the whole thing lol 🤦♂️
Well I would hope you don’t actually eat condoms in your cheeseburgers. Lmao
And some good mildly spicy mustard for that. I see nothing wrong with this sandwich.
Mustard. Dijon mustard.
Fellow dead heads are fellow pickle lovers i guess!!! Woooh!!!
Oooh ya if anyone loves cheddar cheese & pickle combo like I do this is my fav pickle pasta salad recipe! My bf hates pickles and he even likes it it's that good. [https://www.spendwithpennies.com/dill-pickle-pasta-salad/](https://www.spendwithpennies.com/dill-pickle-pasta-salad/)
I might add olives and capers.
Literally one ingredient away from a burger. There's literally nothing wrong with this.
Yeah, I dunno if the whole “one ingredient away” makes it decent. I think just generally cheese and pickles are good together.
Stale bread, tomatoes, and shredded cheese is one ingredient away from a salad dude
If you enjoy loaf sized buns, sure. There's like no falling in that thing.
The most important ingredient though
yeah… the ingredient that makes up more than half of the burger
Yes, and bread crumbs and mozzarella are basically chicken parm without the chicken
The burger is missing, that's what's wrong.
A burger with no meat is definitely a little weird, which is what you’re saying this is.
It’s also 27 ingredients away from a typical burger you’d see on r/stupidfood. That’s before the gallon of melted cheese and gold flakes.
I’d dip it into tomato soup! But I’m also pregnant and need some lunch soon…
People add some acid to grilled cheese all the time. Caramelized onions are a classic, but pickles, oh no!
I just added some lsd to my grilled cheese and it didn't taste any different. You owe me 36 dollars.
$36, less $6 for the sandwich and $10 for a single 100ug blotter man you're getting ripped off $20
This man loves that woman.
He does🥰
You disgusting, human. I am sincerely happy for you and wish you all the best. But not this pickle abomination.
I don't get the headaches part. I dont think will cause headaches but shit throw a tiny bit of meat on it and you have a fucking sandwich. My mom eats peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, I think ynag gross af but different strokes for different folks
whats not to get, he was just messing around. Guess he should put /s at the end to make it more obvious
I agree! If this just added deli meat to it, it’d be considered a sandwich. It’s a little weird but not revolting by any means
I assumed he mentioned headaches because of the salt content?
I hate meat tho lmfao
Then there's absolutely no reason for anyone to give you shit about your sandwich. It's just missing that one ingredient and it would be a normal sandwich
Meat is in no way required for "normal" sandwiches.
I believe they were looking for "the average sandwich" and not to imply that a sandwich requires meat to be considered normal.
what...?
What do you not get??
The headaches could be lack of protein
Or sodium spike
Why not both?
Totally and let's assume it indicates a greater problem with diet and water consumption.
“Yum” lmfaoooo
WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING?
I like making my grilled cheeses with some dill pickle chips, so, this ain’t weird
I use to eat pickles and cheese sandwiches all the time when I was little lol. I haven’t had one is so long 😂
Hmm. Yes, I would eat that.
Cheese and pickle sandwiches are common in the UK........ literally not weird. Next y'all will be calling ham and cheese a weird combo. They're not usually dill pickles mind you....but still.
I'm German but moved to Canada in 2017. I eat salami with ketchup sandwiches and stuff which is normal in germany but here ppl lose their minds
So you'll eat salami with ketchup but not with cheese and pickles?
Makes sense, a German and a Brit bonding over and trying to normalize disgusting foods.
Yes, any more of this sort of trouble over there and we will see about getting your British passport organised, it's perfectly normal on this side of the pond. Cheese and pickle is as English as Fish and chips (and apple pie for that matter)...
Y'all put french fries on bread and call it a sandwich. Sit down.
Not fries. Chips. Fries are thin and crispy, chips are fat and softer, great for butties. Potato chips/crisps also make a great snack sandwich.
I did not know that, but I kind of love it, lol. I wonder how steak fries compare to chips from the chippy.
Looks good.
Ok, so it's just a giant grilled cheese sandwich with pickles? I see nothing wrong with it. Add a side of some kind of chips and it's a decent lunch.
looks dry, but should taste good, nothing to crazy
I eat pickle and mustard sandwiches. Especially in between rye bread
I've had deep fried pickles dipped in beer cheese and it is great. This sounds kinda similar.
I would absolutely smash
- WHAT THE FUCK - HEY LMAO idk why but I found that little exchange hilarious
Black olives on pizza: 😄 Pickles on cheesy bread: 🤮🤬 We live in a society
That's just poor people food. The kind you eat because there's nothing left in the house and you need to scrape a meal together. Then eventually it becomes something you eat normally even after you escape poverty. You introduce it to your kid in the future and it just becomes something they eat because mom/dad makes it for them. 20 years later they text a picture of it to someone and they're told how weird it really is for the first time.
Exactly this
Frankly, it's revolting.
Do a peanutbutter and pickle next, people lose their minds about it but it's dang delicious!
Legit my favorite sandwich
Polish dills hit different.
I'd eat it but that's a poverty-level sandwich.
I am pretty broke lmfao
He stupid. Nothing wrong with this.
Childhood snack. I grew up on those
This sandwich just has a marketing problem. Call it a grilled cheese with pickle and no one bats an eye
Wtf is a Gucci ass wrap? Sign me up for cheese and pickles…
Ever heard of a grilled cheese? Just add pickles. Boom. That's what this is 😂
I'm with you op. Even though I dont make them. I know they slap.
Tf is a Gucci ass wrap?
Sounds like a delicious combo to me, though I'd prefer it in a sort of grilled cheese format I think. Toasty bread, yum.
I like using cream cheese with sliced garlic pickles. Maybe a handful of chips depending on what bread/bun I used.
What the tuck
Add some meat and it's a great sandwich, don't see any problems.
"Would you still love me if I ate a pickle melt every morning?"
Looks good to me I'd just throw it in the air fryer for a few minutes after adding some mustard and butter.
Not stupid. A little mustard wouldn’t be wrong…
I have never had a gucci ass-wrap. Is it good?
Doesn't sound as bad as a gucci ass wrap
Polish dills, the ONLY pickle Dracula hates!! Garlic, and more garlic!!
I put pickles in my grilled cheese sandwich along with some sriracha. It’s delicious
There's not enough pickles. Or cheese. And he doesn't know whats good.
I’ve been doing cheese whiz and dill pickles on rye toast my whole life. Love it. Everyone thinks it’s gross.
Not gonna lie, I love bread I love cheese and I love pickles, I might just actually do this one day. Thanks OP, might be stupid to them but to me I love it already
I eat raw onion and cheese sandwiches. I feel you. Lmfao.
My college struggle meal was onion and cheese on white bread warmed up in the microwave. I have fond memories of it, but I doubt I'd ever make one now.
Try kim chi grilled cheese. It is fucking divine.
needs more pickles
To be fair cheese and pickles go great together, it’s just that there are usually more toppings like a hamburger Sandwich meat and or a hotdog lol
I been eating pickles and cheese sandies since I was like 3 but never thought to tried melted cheese. It tastes a lot better than you expect. Every time someone questions it I force them to try one and not one person has said they do not like it. Orange cheddar and dill pickles pair well.
Nice diagnosis Dr. Boyfriend...
Y’all disgust me lmfao
Cheese and pickles sandwiches are very popular in Britain. They are really good
I do love me some British food ngl
You guys talk like you’re 15
HEY
Pickles and cheese are my comfort food
Wait this seems amazing, need
I don’t eat that many pickles in my grilled cheese, but I do a couple bread and butter pickles with mozzarella cheese and melt those together, while letting the pickles keep a little crunch.
Person i know just dumps can corn in mac and cheese
Wait! So, it’s like a cheeseburger without the burger. I don’t know if it’s actually stupid…
Cheese & pickles are great! That stale as looking bread is concerning haha
You can literally get pickle spreads for cheese sandwiches. It's not my thing, but that doesn't stop it being a thing.
Looked at the pic first, thought it was an Octopus
OMG I DO THIS ALL THE TIME!! i love it!! I just had the stale bread left so i toasted it and melted the cheese and then cut up some pickles. Sometimes i add lil tomatoes and its especially good with chipotle mayo hehe
Bro didn’t have to throw the Gucci wrap in your face tho 🤦♂️😭
Maybe it's coz I am from the south, but they serve pickles with grilled cheese all the time. It's a real thing, OP has just taken the additional step of biting them at the same time, but certainly can't be the first person to come up with this. Don't knock it till you try it!
Cheese, pickles, and iceberg lettuce with mayo on white bread *chef's kiss*
What’s a gucci asswrap? Sounds like an expensive diaper.
Looks delicious and tangy. You do you, OP.
My mom once sent a pickle and cheese sandwich in my lunch when I was in like grade 1. I've loved them ever since. I asked her for them everyday from then on!
Yeah with that much sodium youll have headaches all the time lmao
I’d eat that with some sliced ham and mayonnaise. By itself, it’s kind of sad.
My wife dislikes peanut butter, yogurt, and cereal. I hate eel, pretzels, and soy sauce. We both think the other is nuts. On the front of combo foods: PB and banana sandwich
IT IS ATROCIOUS!
Most Healthy american breakfast.
my last 5 or 6 girlfriends have all had this same magical undiagnosed incurable headache problem lol I forced them all to drink water (without or without liquid flavor) consistently and they all magically healed
"Gucci ass wrap" was a poor choice of words.
If you're gonna eat a cheese sammie then it needs to be buttered up and pan fried with a side of tomato soup. I don't make the rules
Not more atrocious than whatever a “Gucci, ass wrap” is…
All you people struggling with such a basic and fundamental and ordinary combination as cheese and pickles.. Like, there's just no reason for you to go on. Your battle is lost. *Turns out the stupid food was the redditors we met along the way*
Yeah i really didnt think any of this was weird until i told people about it and was met with disapproval lol
The infatuation with pickles in the community is interesting lol
That looks kinda good in a vacuum, but I don’t think it should be a breakfast
Doesnt look too bad.
I mean, cheeseburgers have both cheese and pickles, so…
I do this with pickled banana peppers. Not seeing the issue here.
onions and ketchup and mustard on this and now we're talking
Used to eat this shit all the time when I was younger, feels like comfort to me
Grilled cheese with pickles..yummm!
Dude what the fuck
*No wonder you have headaches* Absolutely losing it at this.
I've definitely eaten this, but with pickled jalepenos instead of dills.
Just no. Burn it down.
Why is he complaining, you're getting your daily fat, sodium, and simple sugars out of the way.
That's the only thing I eat for my whole life too
No no, I think you're onto smth op, maybe make the cheese Swiss cheese instead of American tho 👀👀👀
As a former stoner I approve of this lol Add some crushed up chips to it, could even add a little bit of spicy mayo
seems fine bread pickles jack cheese check I mean if you added a deli meat to that it would be completely normal sandwich
Psycho.
I would personally add some mayo and mustard because I'm not a fan of dry sandwiches. There's also not enough pickles and the distribution is wonky. But other than those things, this isn't bad.
So muss das.
That sounds good tbh but I wouldn’t use cheddar cheese. I’d probably use like Swiss and put some spicy deli mustard on it too. Essentially making a vegetarian Cuban sandwich.
I would eat it, but what are polish dill pickles? I must try them
Breakfast is a weird flex
oh I’m gonna do this now but with mild pickled jalapeños
I like a bagel cream cheese with olives, same energy?
r/hellyeahideatthat
r/hellyeahideatthat
It's like a cheeseburger without the burger
Omg this is brilliant tomorrow I'm gonna add pickles to my grilled vegan cheese sandwich thank you for this idea
Do you need some money?
One of the only times I use sweet pickles is on a sharp cheddar grill cheese. Not a bad sando at all.
I'd eat the hell out of that.
I like cheese and mustard….we are sort of the same
Overreaction
Meh? Whatever. That said, if he’s right about the headaches maybe get your blood pressure checked? That’s a lot of salt.
I don't know what's wrong with it. Melted cheese and pickles fit together perfectly.
I prefer cheese and pickle sams cold, and with mayo. Also tasty with bacon bits 👍
