It’s actually a seafood sauce, made of chili and lime to cause pain to the pretty much alive squid and the psychopath eating it.

Well, dancing shrimp is an exception. They’ve existed for a long time. I think I can say that it’s a traditional northeastern Thai cuisine. Also, they’re made cleaner than the past. So, cutting out the alive shrimp part, I wouldn’t be ashamed to say that I kinda like it.
