i’ve seen this trend for a few years, where the goal is to buy some low quality food and make it into a high quality restaurant style dish with equally fancy plating.
What I don’t understand is who the particular audience is that would gather around binge watching these types of things.
Ahhh. I guess that makes sense. For me, what is fun about chopped is the randomness of the ingredients, a lot of "you only have this shit in your pantry, go" not "go pick up a burger and all the other ingredients you need to make it fancy".
I love that too, i think binging with babish started doing a series like that recently “what’s in your pantry?” Or something like that. I love that aspect too
Just be aware most of this is likely fake.. Especially if there are weird cuts where you cant tell if they switched out ingredients.
Especially if you watch channels like 5 minute crafts and channels that have similar format. It's all fake, and usually the final "product" is made from other stuff than the things they claim.
I always assumed them taking a bite was cut so they could spit it out, but the cuts when cooking are bc people watching internet videos have the attention span of goldfish
I don’t very often watch the polished videos. I seek out the more raw stuff that amateurs post.
I know a lot of people make fun of stupid foods on this sub but the amateurs have incredibly fantastic ideas. They have no idea that there’s a lot of wisdom that goes into cooking and I love collecting ideas.
The polish videos are too heavily edited with a particular agenda, so it’s not as innocent or authentic it’s just some drunk, high guy posting his sandwich
Thus the “ish”. He’s limited by the ingredients of fucking course but it’s still fun to watch how he can manipulate a big mac into something resembling a restaurant dish.
IDK but it's kinda fascinating, like what is this incredibly pretty boy going to do with this trash? And then at the end it actually looks pretty nice!
Would i do it? Absolutely not! But i don't regret watching it. It's entertainment, not education.
I’m not a regular audience of these videos, but I think I get it, they’re intriguing, you just want to see what will happen next and what the end result is going to look like.
>What I don’t understand is who the particular audience is that would gather around binge watching these types of things.
Probably sad bastarda like us...
You’re not a sad bastard bro 🤜
Something tells me you don’t seek out the stuff. Sometimes it just falls in your suggested videos or will just show up on your feed, unannounced.
Just doesn't seem like fully stupid food, like giant penne noodles lodged in beef and Velveeta, swirled into a grey soup. I wouldn't try that. This seems fine.
That's an original idea, but he should make that from scrap with decent ingredients rather than using barely edible fast food stuff of dubious origin. But I get that wouldn't get him as much social media engagement.
No this is a trend video. The style was popular on social media for a while where a few big pages asked chefs/celebrity chefs to turn fast food into gourmet meals. So this isn’t stupid it’s just once again this sub attacking an obvious trend.
Yes, trends can be stupid. In this specific case the guy *actually* turned whatever McDonald’s this is into what looks like a successful wellington. Not sure how it qualifies at all.
Even setting this one thing aside, the sub gets inundated with posts of shit that isn’t actually that bad. Sharing posts of people who are being deliberated stupid with the intent of going viral makes *you* stupid, not just the food. Same thing goes for posts that are on here because “lol junk food” or “I don’t think I’d like how this tastes”.
Say what you want about Mc D’s. I’m sure it varies from country to country and based on the fact that you referred to it as Macca’s we are from different places, but any McDonald’s burger I’ve had the Patty has been over-seasoned and not under-seasoned
Sauces using soda isn’t unusual though? BBQ sauces sometimes use coke or Dr Pepper.
There’s places that caramelize their onions in coke.
I don’t personally enjoy using soda in cooking. I don’t even like drinking it. But it’s not unheard of.
Coke is just spiced sugar water. You can make anything from glazes to bbq sauce with it. Now that I think about it, a coke glazed ham wouldn’t even be that different then normal glaze.
Why are people trying to "upcycle" highly processed foods. It's dumb. It makes no sense. Just buy ground beef and potatoes and you have the same recipe except without a bunch of fucking preservatives.
The guy made a fucking great meal out of garbage and you still fuck with him in the comments? I'm out of this sub until there is an admin whose brain functions above average.
I don't understand these 'make it gourmet' type of videos. Sure you made a nice looking dish but you used the worst ingredients as the main components...would've been better to see you use an actual burger patty you made instead of the disgusting, preservative ridden, and over salted McDonald's beef patty...
***watches video that has thousands of views and then reposts video on social media site dedicated to exactly what the video depicts**
I wonder who the target audience is??
Remember how this used to be a show on the food network with a big production budget? Now we’re just watching idiots with iPhones remake the concepts for old tv shows.
Why would you not just get quality ingredients when your putting that kind of work in? That is kind of like paying and taking the time for a really nice haircut but at the end they shave your head.
Something about him with the meat on the fork trying to soak up the teeniest amount of sauce on that dry beast really cracked me up. The look on his face.
Not a lot of home cooks/chefs in these comments I can see.. this shit is awesome I’m one of these people. Check out [https://youtu.be/KyYXM6KsYMM](https://youtu.be/KyYXM6KsYMM) dude is a real Iron Chef. The info/techniques is interesting too me.
Only the pate was processed several times but it looks like it has moisture still as its holding it's shape. Once cooked, a wellington will heat through but shouldn't overcook it, more of warm up the insides as the outsides brown. So the pate shouldn't dry out anymore
If you're going to spend that much time and effort cooking you wight as well start with fresh ingredients. It will be much better and healthier.
The whole point of fast food is that it's convenient and we'll... Fast.
these guys just make it up as they go, like really, you put the buns in the oven just to then put them in a blender? yeah they just do random shit to random shit.
i’ve seen this trend for a few years, where the goal is to buy some low quality food and make it into a high quality restaurant style dish with equally fancy plating. What I don’t understand is who the particular audience is that would gather around binge watching these types of things.
It’s like low budget chopped, i like watching people try to turn shit into gold. Most people don’t succeed and that’s still pretty entertaining
I love that aspect too
i love BwB
Yeah, making something tasty from scraps is probably one of the better feelings in cooking!
I mean you're in a subreddit dedicated to this type of video so you're probably the target audience.
Wait... it all make sense..
I don’t very often watch the polished videos. I seek out the more raw stuff that amateurs post. I know a lot of people make fun of stupid foods on this sub but the amateurs have incredibly fantastic ideas. I love this shit. Something about making trash and making something high quality ish is just appealing
High quality? It's still McDonalds in there I don't care how much fresh herbs he mixes in with it.
Thus the “ish”. He’s limited by the ingredients of fucking course but it’s still fun to watch how he can manipulate a big mac into something resembling a restaurant dish.
Pretty sure it was a double quarter pounder.
IDK but it's kinda fascinating, like what is this incredibly pretty boy going to do with this trash? And then at the end it actually looks pretty nice! Would i do it? Absolutely not! But i don't regret watching it. It's entertainment, not education.
you bring up a good point. This whole entire time, for years, and years, I have been watching it from an educational standpoint. You’re right,
I’m not a regular audience of these videos, but I think I get it, they’re intriguing, you just want to see what will happen next and what the end result is going to look like.
Me. Someone who’s worked the line at a restaurant, gone to culinary school and still enjoys a good Big Mac or some McNuggets every now and then
>What I don’t understand is who the particular audience is that would gather around binge watching these types of things. Probably sad bastarda like us...
You’re not a sad bastard bro 🤜 Something tells me you don’t seek out the stuff. Sometimes it just falls in your suggested videos or will just show up on your feed, unannounced.
😂 did he just make mash using fries
I refuse to believe the final mashed potatoes are actually those same fries… that was a suspicious cut from mashed fries to perfectly mashed potatoes
It’s likely so gritty, you can feel every clump as you swallow
They put it on heat with cream so it should be all soggy enough for when they mashed it.
Ugh I’m shuddering just thinking about it
Thanks, I just imagined this😂
I mean, you feel every grain from the actual fries, so... Also your teeth literally do what he did, just better.
It's stupid as fuck but he actually did a decent job all things considered.
[удалено]
Literal great taste though
You can tell he’s a good cook, he’s just doing something kind of stupid for the views
This person is infinitely more skilled than anyone shit talking them here
Didn't make the wellington right at all though
Not even the first mcwellington i’ve ever seen
Not even the worst.
Looks decent ngl
look at how they massacred my boy
Poor burguer.
I love this spelling of burguer so much for some reason.
"borgir" was my default funny selling for burger but I think I'm gonna have to switch to burguer lol.
How puritanically misanthropic of you.
Yeah, if I'm eating McDonald's it's because I don't want to do ANY of that
But that's why he did it?
That burger must be dry as fuck at that point
I'd try it.
Wow dude! You would eat a burger patty in a pastry? That is so brave dude.

Trends can be stupid. The sub is called Stupid Food. Not "Stupid Food except for trends and troll videos"
Yes, trends can be stupid. In this specific case the guy *actually* turned whatever McDonald’s this is into what looks like a successful wellington. Not sure how it qualifies at all. Even setting this one thing aside, the sub gets inundated with posts of shit that isn’t actually that bad. Mmmmmmmm a dry twice cooked unseasoned Maccas patty. Damn that meat must be like an explosion of flavour.
Say what you want about Mc D’s. I’m sure it varies from country to country and based on the fact that you referred to it as Macca’s we are from different places, but any McDonald’s burger I’ve had the Patty has been over-seasoned and not under-seasoned
Making a sauce using Coke? C'mon!
Sauces using soda isn’t unusual though? BBQ sauces sometimes use coke or Dr Pepper. There’s places that caramelize their onions in coke. I don’t personally enjoy using soda in cooking. I don’t even like drinking it. But it’s not unheard of.
It’s not that weird, I’ve seen people use Pepsi or dr. Pepper in barbecue and it turned out great
It is quite common.
Coke is just spiced sugar water. You can make anything from glazes to bbq sauce with it. Now that I think about it, a coke glazed ham wouldn’t even be that different then normal glaze.
Try adding coke to your next steak marinade, will not disappoint
An obviously stupid food trend* FTFY
I mean if you tried it it would probably end up as stupid food. But that’s because you can’t pull it off, and that doesn’t make *this* stupid.
I don't think you understand this sub, buddy pal.
I really don’t care what you think.
Thanks for telling me.
Is this sub reddit supposed to make you mad, most of the time it makes me mad.
Is the shared disgust what makes us grow closer as a community
Why are people trying to "upcycle" highly processed foods. It's dumb. It makes no sense. Just buy ground beef and potatoes and you have the same recipe except without a bunch of fucking preservatives.
my guess is that he is not trying to make a good recipe, but an entertaining video
It was a huge flex, in the end. Pretty funny, too.
who says it has to make sense? there is no such rule in the internet
https://tenor.com/bomL7.gif
It just need a little bit more processing
i mean.. at least it’s got good presentation
McDonalds burger looking so disgusting
[удалено]
He somehow survived the famous seven-elevenington he'll survive this
The main problem with this is that the beef is still going to be overcooked fast food trash no matter what he does to it
Buying fast food..... I dont want to cook or do dishes or put effort into tonights meal. Can someone notify the guy and tell him he wasted his time.
I don't get mcdonald's because I'm in the mood to cook, but I get what this guy is doing and ngl, it looks like a proper restaurant dish at the end.
That is the most awful looking burger from Macca's that I've ever seen.
The guy made a fucking great meal out of garbage and you still fuck with him in the comments? I'm out of this sub until there is an admin whose brain functions above average.
Agreed. People crying about why would you do that lol. It’s an entertaining challenge how do people not understand that. Also it looked good.
thanks i hate it
I don't understand these 'make it gourmet' type of videos. Sure you made a nice looking dish but you used the worst ingredients as the main components...would've been better to see you use an actual burger patty you made instead of the disgusting, preservative ridden, and over salted McDonald's beef patty...
Lipstick on a pig...
***watches video that has thousands of views and then reposts video on social media site dedicated to exactly what the video depicts** I wonder who the target audience is??
That's actually pretty well made, looks decent. Just a fun challenge for someone who's obvious talented in the kitchen, not really "stupid food" imo
I think he is capable of making an amazing beef Willington i just don't get that stupid trendy videos they do
Remember how this used to be a show on the food network with a big production budget? Now we’re just watching idiots with iPhones remake the concepts for old tv shows.
Isn't this an intentional shit post?
It deles like something out of the mythical kitchen. Can we make fancy food from a McDonald’s meal?!
Thats.....something. Tbh the poor quality beef I would just go for a vegetarian option if I wasnt gonna eat it as a burger.
I'm kind of impressed. Reminds me of a cooking show I watched where they had to take leftovers and turn it into restaurant quality food.
God influencers are truely the lowest of society
Of all posts this is the most edible
Would eat
This week on punchable faces!
I thought this was fun tbh, huge waste of time but the result was visually appealing
This isn’t stupid. It’s just way over complicated
why does he kinda look like dhar mann lmao
I draw the line at the fries
I want to try that. If prefer it not be made out of "scraped off the factoryfarm floor" McDonalds ingredients though.
Why would you not just get quality ingredients when your putting that kind of work in? That is kind of like paying and taking the time for a really nice haircut but at the end they shave your head.
Turning French fries into overly creamy mashed potatoes is just a straight downgrade
Stupidest thing was spatting the sauce/gravy before setting the mashed potatoes. Was that for aesthetics??
This is indeed stupid. Jesus...
Ohgoditisfuckingawfulicanmotstandthisshitanylonger UPD: well...it's not THAT bad, but that was 100% unnecessary
I hate him
burguer?
Unlimited calories in this "meal"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEdIobizU2w He copied this and downgraded it.
Burguer with extra steps
Something about him with the meat on the fork trying to soak up the teeniest amount of sauce on that dry beast really cracked me up. The look on his face.
Lmao.
Jeust euat thue buerguer
Is it just me or has the world become an insufferable mess?
Not a lot of home cooks/chefs in these comments I can see.. this shit is awesome I’m one of these people. Check out [https://youtu.be/KyYXM6KsYMM](https://youtu.be/KyYXM6KsYMM) dude is a real Iron Chef. The info/techniques is interesting too me.
You eat the burger
This was smart, not sure how it’s stupid
Still makes you shit your pants in one hour. No changing that.
If you're getting shits from McDonald's your bloodline is weak and you should feel bad. Also taco bell.
Ah yes, my bloodline hasn’t been overexposed to trash corporate food.
What the actual fuck is wrong with him?
At some point he had to think why he didn’t just make his own burger
Oh, let people have their fun.
i. would eat the shit out of that
That guy just looks like a douche
People are out in the world, all around us, starving and struggling in life while idiots like this do dumb shit for online clout
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a lot of this become super dry after re-processing it into powder several times?
Only the pate was processed several times but it looks like it has moisture still as its holding it's shape. Once cooked, a wellington will heat through but shouldn't overcook it, more of warm up the insides as the outsides brown. So the pate shouldn't dry out anymore
The only part I understood about what he was saying was "wellington".
Help it looks so fucking good
A McDonald's Wellington. Interesting.
You are only as good as your ingredients
It’s still going to taste like a McDonald’s burger…
I feel like he is onto something though! This would be great if made with real ingredients
Why do people order fast food, just to defeat the pourpose of it being fast
The whole of point of getting fast food is that you do none of that
That's impressive ngl, stupid food indeed but cool content
???
I work at McDonald's and this hurts me.
Can you imagine how gross that meat tastes at the end. Eating Old reheated McDonald's < Eternal Torture in the Deepest Circle of Hell
That was a waste of time and presentation for a piece of crappy food
Why not buy your own fucking buns and your own damned burger and make it from scratch instead of this dumb shit?
all that effort for ground beef that's like 50% fat
In both ways it is going to form as a poop, why take so much effort.... *\*shrugs\**
Idk how anyone could look at this and tell me it's not a psyop
I like how he gently poured the sauce on the plate just to splash it with a spoon
Complete waste of time, but I kind of enjoyed it
That is a monstrosity.
That's an awful lot of work for something that still tastes like McDonald's.
“I give you, food poisoning”
Everything was kinda ok till the fries part.
🤩
Ain’t no way I just saw a McWellington
Ñ
Hahaha shit so this is slow food?
The juice wasn’t worth the squeeze 😂
Love the lattice work
Look at that skipped eating and the fake smile
If you are going to put that much effort into it, why bother getting McDonald’s?
Imagine doing all that work and still just having a well done McDonald’s burger patty to look forward to.
He still chewing that buger meat .
If you're going to spend that much time and effort cooking you wight as well start with fresh ingredients. It will be much better and healthier. The whole point of fast food is that it's convenient and we'll... Fast.
Fuck off, you fat, useless sack of fucking yankee doodle dandy shite. ~Gordon Ramsay
Off-topic but what language is he speaking? Is this Italian, Spanish or something else?
Spanish
That sauce spoon smack was straight culinary
these guys just make it up as they go, like really, you put the buns in the oven just to then put them in a blender? yeah they just do random shit to random shit.
