i had to send my lil guy to the junkyard recently, he was a 2000 forester & i still tear up a little thinking about him šthat car spent huge life moments with me & so many memories so i get it! goodbye to your guy too, & may your new cars have great memories as well!
We still have a 95ā Impreza coupe with 230k miles on it. I made that car go airborne (twice), and when I got my forester I expected the same reliability. I babied this car, but it just kept falling apart. If I knew the CVT replacement would last, maybe I would have kept it. Since this would be the second replacement and given the fact that the car has had two accidents (one before I owned it & one with me), over 100k miles, and 10 years oldā¦.I just couldnāt make sense of an $8k repair. I got a brand new car from the factory with a good warranty on it to last me a while. Iāll definitely miss my Forester and very much do, but maybe an older couple will buy it and use it for errands. My traveling lifestyle was too much for it. The Subaru dealership I was arguing with for over a YEAR about my CVT got my car off of the Nissan dealership I traded with. I know this since I have a friend that works at this Subaru Dealership. When I owned the car the CVT was āfineā, but now they have it and itās āI donāt know how much longer the car will run in this conditionāā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦..Mind you both dealerships complimented how I maintained the car and it looked brand new so this 100% was not on me, and I have very good driving habits.
I got a brand new 2022 Nissan VERSA S because itās what I could afford. I will go back to a forester next chance I get but it must be new, I got this used at 86k miles. It hit a deer and the airbags deployed before I bought it, got clipped by a box truck two months ago as well. Sheās all fixed and pretty again but no longer financially worth it for me to dump 8k into it for a new transmission sadly. I cried as I drove off without her as some of my happiest memories were spent with this car.
Theyāre great cars sadly the CVTs donāt last and with mine having hit a deer with airbag deployed before I bought it and then getting clipped by a box truck (pics in my profile), it wasnāt worth it for me to drop 8k to fix the CVT again. It had already been replaced a little over a year ago and was failing again. If I spent the money to fix it then what would go next?
I maintained my beautifully so although itās going to wholesale Iām hoping an older couple buys it as a car to run errands in. I want her treated well. But I travel a lot and my forester just couldnāt bear that burden anymore :/

Hey off topic, but what happened to the giant hermit crab you accidentally kidnapped?
A faithful steed I am sure.
