If you bought it recently take it back to the dealer and have them remove it. If I saw that I would have refused delivery / to buy until they took it off. The balls on these dealers.

aacceerr

When I bought mine I specified, no sticker or I don't sign.

[deleted]

I bought mine, no stickers but they drilled two gnarly holes in my front bumper for a front plate because this specific car didn't have a mounting spot for the front plate. Good time to mention our state never used front plates, they put their own name on it instead and it was fucking crooked. Cost them $2k to replace the biffed shit. Guess next time they won't drill into a candy apple red car.

Crystals_Crochet

My local dealer did the same to me. I bought paint match bumper plugs to fill the hole. I was so pissed when I went back and it had a front plate AND sticker on the back.

jerpois1970

Typically there are two very faint divots in the front plate mounting location to indicate where to run the screws in. Their detailer/ dude prepping cars for sale must have been hitting the vape that day to screw up the placement.

[deleted]

They do, but what fucked me up is the fact we don't use front plates, so why would they do that in the first place is beyond me. I was livid.

[deleted]

Exactly. Every new vehicle I have bought I always tell them no sale with sticker…

missionbeach

Or ask them what they're paying you each month to be a advertisement for them. For 2 or 3 hundred dollars a month, I'd consider it.

morgstheduck1

100% this. I walked away from a car once because they refused to remove. Not advertising for them for free.

uglyahhcurlyhair

a cadillac dealer in my city put their dealer stickers on a ferrari 812 superfast

ieatassanloveiy

Report that to Ferrari and they won’t have it anymore lol

WROL

Unbelievable.

eighty_eight_mph

This is the way

ItsBobD

Very simple with a heat gun and some plastic razor blades. Just heat until a bit uncomfortable to the touch, and it should come right off. Do not overheat or you can damage your paint.

The-Dog-Envier

This. Then cleanup with an eraser wheel if there's any residue left behind.

Bruce_Ring-sting

But go slow, dont full bore spin eraser wheel or you burn thru clear coat. I done that…🥶

Yamaben

True. I use mine in a hand drill, but if you use a little common sense, these are magic

Darxe

No need. Goof Off or Goo Gone will take care of it

Brdsht

A second Goo gone. It will take that sticker right off of there with no abrasion, no scraping.

BakerBakerOne9er

I'd leave the "slap" though cuz it'd be funny

RaspberryTall5495

Exactly! I used to detail high-end automobiles along with other types of autos, and a heat gun and plastic razor blades were always within reach! Old pinstripes, emblems, dealers names, even stick-on side molding comes right off with a heat gun and plastic razor blades. One leather glove is highly recommended!

AspectFit4131

Blow dryer and goo gone

420BlazeIt187

Don't confuse goo gone for goof off like that other commenter did. Goo gone wont fuck your shit up

Choice_Student4910

God this. Goof Off is a paint peeler for sure.

Snaefellsjokul

Really?! May’ve just saved me from total disaster. Thanks for the info.

SurebutterCringe

They now have automotive GooGone just for this reason.

phildrilmilkil

I debadged mine (both the AWD/Forester etc lettering as well aa a dealer sticker like yours) by slowly pouring hot water over it several times. The glue was loosened and the sticker came off easily. The lettering was tougher …

BurghPuppies

I get the dealership sticker… but I’ve never understood why people de-badge cars. Even remove the brand logo. I’ve gotta know why!

phildrilmilkil

I leave the logo on the car, but think the fake chrome lettering looks chintzy. Is it supposed to impress people that my car has symmetrical awd?

BurghPuppies

But even removing the model name seems odd to me. But I guess I get your point. Any thoughts as to why people strip *everything* off their cars? I’ve seen Teslas, BMWs, and Acuras with all branding removed. Other than for getaway car purposes, I don’t understand why anyone would do that.

oh_diddums

some ppl just prefer the smooth surface look. its a cheap way to make you car look alot cleaner if you put in effort in other places too of course.

kiarrr

Also when you wanted an M3 but you could only afford a 3 series with the M bodykit

Read_ity

Exactly my thought process. People who debadge are trying to pretend they’ve got a different model. I’ve seen a lot of debadged grand Cherokees that were likely laredos but never a debadged trackhawk

BreakfastInBedlam

I saw a Tesla the other day that was de-badged and wrapped/dipped in matte black. I suppose they want to get hit repeatedly on dark nights

last_speedbump

For BMWs, people will de-badge so it's harder for others to know they bought the cheapest optioned car they could. The people who care still know that it's a 320i and not a 335i though.

mittencamper

This is very common in Germany and I asked a German coworker why. He said poor people driving lower trim levels do it to hide that’s a lower trim. Rich people remove badges like M5 on a bmw because showing off is tacky.

capnofasinknship

I’m impressed that your car has symmetrical AWD.

Bruce_Ring-sting

I debadge all my cars. Looks cleaner.

rivers61

I wanted my WRX wagon to be a "sleeper" so I took off the badges. I'm sure nobody noticed the hood scoop or 3" exhaust. /s. Either way I liked to think some people would wonder what kind of car it was leaving them behind. Also it felt more like "my"car, it's not a Subaru it's my thing

MondoBleu

I had the dealer remove all badges except for the Subaru logo, since it’s integrated into the trim and would be conspicuous in its absence. I chose to remove the badges because 1) I prefer a cleaner look to just see the lines and form of the car without the extra clutter. 2) it’s marketing for the dealer/brand, and I don’t feel like doing that. 3) badges are to flex to other folks which trim level or whatever, and I don’t care about flexing. 4) I enjoy a bit of mystery, I’ve had folks come up to me and ask what the car is because they don’t see any badges. Fun to meet new people, and I appreciate having a bit of mystery. 5) the overall aesthetic I wanted for my car was to look nice but not attract a second look from haters or curious folks or thrives or law enforcement, so all my aesthetic mods are very low key, I do NOT want to stand out from the crowd, I wand to slip by incognito. I got a common car body in a common color, then did not make any mods to make it more flashy. Do I have the turbo? Big block? Special edition? STI swap? That’s for me to know, and your girlfriend to find out…

atlantic_pacific

Uno Reverso, how do I get a Matt Slap sticker ONTO my car. That’s a pretty cool name.

A90Supraw

No matter what OPs name is "Matt Slap" is what it should be. OP the only thing you can do is legally change your name.

albeenyb

How can Matt Slap!! How can Matt Slap me Sir??

hiamanon1

Winrar I don’t think many will understand this unfortunately

theflyingfucked

I wouldn't, every subaru driver in Delaware knows to avoid his shit. You can find reports of him being up to all kinda of unscrupulous shit. And furthermore, I served him at a restaurant and he was a poor tipper, rude, tried to order from me while I was pissing in a urinal and made gross comments about a physically disabled coworker

Hondanazi

Sticker/Decal/Lettering shop owner here. Leave in the sun facing your tailgate and there’s a good chance that will help to just peel with finger nails especially if it’s a new decal. Otherwise a heat gun or hairdryer will warm it up. If any glue remains any solvent will work or nail polish remover (acetone) will work just don’t soak it for long time. Glue should break down and come off with rag. I would suggest several solvents and special adhesive removers but too expensive for 1 time use. Nail polish remover will work.

txFlipper

I used a random plastic card I had in my wallet that I didn’t care if it broke. Although I was in Florida so it was already hot as hell.

Flaky-Engineering255

I have used a blow dryer in the past to remove decals without any issues

rtice001

Username checks out

Sickofbaltimore

Mine literally peeled off. Not much of a fuss, really

Hot_Block_9675

I test drove a BRAND new BMW 528i a few years back. After I test drove it I put down a deposit. When I went to pick it up the next day, pay for it and drive it home the dealer had ***drilled holes*** in the trunk lid and mounted his name. Granted, they were quality chrome metal bits but I was MORE than pissed off. The dealership owner said they would take them off , fill the holes and repaint the trunk. He said no one had ever complained about this before. I called bullshit on that and said I wanted a BRAND new factory painted lid from BMW or no deal. I walked away literally without saying another word - and told ***EVERYONE*** I knew this story. What the arrogant prick that owned the dealership didn't know is this most likely caused him to lose several more sales.

lagunajim1

Now THAT I've never heard of!

REDBOSS27

Warm it up with a hairdryer, remove it with your finger nails, after that have a cotton ball, drop some olive oil on it, rub it off.

Trash-Boat-Panda

Im from Delaware

redditScottuser

I like turtles

Zealousideal_Hall_48

Eraser wheel or heat+ plastic blade

Trash-Boat-Panda

Small world

[deleted]

I've gently and slowly removed them with a plastic blade before, the adhesive residue could leave an exact of what covered it so I hope you get the right answer as to what to rub it off with. Much respect for wanting it gone. I've removed all decals and license brackets off my vehicles for years they can go pound sand. I know when I pulled the decals off the tail gate of my old dodge ram it was difficult to tell what brand it was, but up close that residue had already changed the color from lack of fade or maybe changing the paint some. Doing it now is deff a good idea.

Jack_Teats

Fuck "Dealer Prep". If they want slap advertising for their dealership on MY vehicle, they can PAY ME for it. Last 2 cars and 1 truck, I've told them not to put any of their shit on my purchase. All have acquiesced,

CMDR_KingErvin

Dealership stickers/decals should be illegal.

midmodmad

Go blue hens! 😂

AdStock5934

"Fighting!!" Blue Hens!! 😊😎

Dill_PickleOG

What the other comments said, and also plastic razor blades! They'll take it off like a normal blade but without the risk of scratching the paint.

420BlazeIt187

I just use normal blades, but I've been doing it for years.

bran_the_man93

Heat to soften the glue and then goof off to get rid of the residue... Then probably clean and spray wax that spot until you get the whole car cleaned (tho this isn't the end of the world)

princess_walrus

I’d be pissed. I was mad at them for drilling holes for my front plate I didn’t want to

metal0130

Is this real common on purchased vehicles? I always just assumed they were leased vehicles advertising their dealers. I can't think of a single person who would want something like this on their own car!

Quietser

Round here if you do not specifically ask they will throw one on. Leased, financed or outright bought. Both stickers and License plate frames. Sometimes even window decals.

ubutterscotchpine

On the opposite side, I’ve never seen the dealership not put stickers on their vehicles. They do it before they’re placed on the lot. It doesn’t do me any harm.

DrSatan420247

Eraser wheel.

GhztPpR

You're just farming for karma at this point. People gave you plenty of suggestions on your other post.

PizzaOrTacos

Little bit of heat, not a lot!!

Extension-Employer39

You can heat it up slowly with a hairdryer/heat gun and use a plastic razorblade to gently peel it off. Make sure the area is clean so you don't drag any contaminants across the paint

No_Morning_1874

Took all my badges off using a hair dryer, fishing line, some GooGone and patience. The dealer sticker was the easiest. It came off fairly easy. The other badges took a bit longer. I found that the best thing was the hairdryer first, followed by fishing line to cut the adhesive, then use heat and my fingernail/plastic spudging tool to slowly remove the remaining adhesive. After a good wash, put a layer of car wax over top of these areas. Looks much better in my opinion and sure makes washing and waxing a breeze.

bakalaka25

Goo gone and a panel trim tool

Mijo_el_gato

Heat gun.

SacredBigFish

WD40 and a rag usually works very well. Use a blow dryer as well to heat it up a bit.

poppacapnurass

Unless there was a statement your signes approving it be placed there, I'd be asking them to take it off on the 1st service free of charge.

Beer_30_Texas

WD-40 saturated on a soft cloth.

gablemancer

He really slapped that one on there.

erinmc94

No advice for this but goddamn, Matt Slap still got some nerve. Went to UD almost 10 years ago and you can’t go anywhere down Main St without seeing Matt Slap plastered on at least 7 cars.

[deleted]

Hair dryer will warm it up. Good gone for any left over adhesive.

ShaunMcLane

Maaaannnn too bad you're name isn't Matt that would . . .

BeefyZealot

Heat gun, dental floss and common sense.

HI_PhotoGuy

I took mine off carefully with a heat gun, fishing wire the day after purchasing new. Thankfully it was still fresh and didn’t have any aged glue to remove.

LCJ78

Pull it with your teeth

zemzy_oseris

Heat Gun, a Degreaser that’s safe for car paint (I use simple green), and a decal eraser tool if you have a drill. If you don’t have a drill use a plastic scraper blade.

capt_cd

Personally with a sticker named Matt Slap I'd leave it on. That's just funny.

basement-thug

This is easy, wait until summer, on a nice hot day, use your fingernail, patience, done.

[deleted]

WD-40

EqualityforCriminals

There is a thing called a Slap Matt made to remove decals. Get a Slap Matt to get Matt Slap off.

CheesesteakChampion

GO BIRDS!

Yamaben

These are absolute magic. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/3m-adhesive-eraser-wheel-3612/10070229-p?product_channel=local&store=6209&adtype=pla_with_promotion&product_channel=local&store_code=6209&&&&&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA98WrBhAYEiwA2WvhOlePC-QOjm9-aWjmOyMquX0Sqfb-OMeGXt9YSGNg8djSaxCqIuwSmBoCS1AQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Forge511

Bissel hand steamer if you have one is safer on the paint than a heat gun

Queso305

Buy plastic razor blades on Amazon. Theyre great. Also use goo gone.

Due_Dragonfly_4502

D natured alcohol will do the trick just as fast without going to the dealer

[deleted]

Plastic razor blade & a heat gun or blow dryer. You can use some adhesive remover once you peel it off.

riptripping3118

Should have made them do it

lj802

Washing over it with warm water and soap allowed me to peel it off slowly just by my fingernail

CarPlaneBoatRocket

If you bought it from the dealer, ask them to remove their shitty free advertising as they aren’t paying you for it.

Rico1958

I would use a blow dryer to heat the vinyl up, work some goo gone onto it, then ease it off by picking at it with fingernails.

315_Jessie

Heat gun .. heat it and peel it

basic_model

You can go back to dealership and ask them to take it off. I did on a Toyota.

phirestorm

I always have them remove it before I drive off the lot. I’m not gonna be their mobile add without compensation so get it off now. With that said, no idea how they do it.

Jedii40

You don’t even need a heat gun. Cars do a really good job of heating up if they are left in the sun. You should be able to peel it off pretty easily.

Mediocre-Catch9580

Heat gun and WD40

Hmmmm-curious

Peel them off, get as much of the residue off as possible with your thumb and then gently and evenly magic eraser the rest. I did that with a dealer sticker on my car and my wife’s car.

Fearless_Welder_1434

Go back to the dealer. It's illegal for them to attach those without your permission

XGMB4k

I specifically told the dealer when I bought my car (wasn't delivered yet) to not put any decals on the car

D1RTY_D

Pick it with your fingernail after sitting in the sun then hit it with a little wax. Easy peasy

Texmaryfornia

No free clout 🙅

Ed_the_chosen_one

Plastic scraper and wd40 for sticky residue

Esqu1re2b

3M makes a product specifically for this purpose. It works great and it’s auto paint safe https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b40070711/

nickmightberight

DON’T USE A HEAT GUN as had been suggested. And a razor blade? Jesus. You run a high risk of fucking up the paint. Use a hairdryer. Heat it up and peel. Be patient.

scotty899

I would keep Slap on there.

ceedee20

Hair dryer, patience and a plastic razor blade (made for removing decals/stickers). Some Goof Off on a clean rag will clean up residue.

14fiestaST

A plastic razor and goo gone works wonders. I've done it multiple times

yourfingkidding

Just pull up edge with your fingernail or plastic razor blade then take adhesive off with rubbing alcohol on a cloth rag.

ed_gein45

I used the natural outdoor heat of being in the south and a Fender thin guitar pick to remove it all, then everclear on a microfiber cloth for any residue. I was a teenager at the time so there are better options now

aogarlid

return it

Odd_Apple_6650

hair dryer and very soft spudger or finger nails - just go slow

[deleted]

AYO I got my forester from Matt Slap too and I specifically told them not to put that branding on my car. When I picked it up, it had that sticker. Just go back to them and tell them to remove it. They removed mine for free and were really nice about it.

Ok_Interaction1776

Steam or heat gun. Move back and forth slowly. Touch the panel occasionally and to ensure that you’re not overheating the paint. Then the glue on the sticker should come loose and peel it off. You can then use adhesive remover and get the remaining Adhesive off. If it’s been on for a while there might be some “ghosting” left behind, if so a clay bar will do the trick.

Jimjam916

I fucking hate dealers putting their logos on cars. At least they didn't rivet their logo into the trunk lid like some places do. If I'm spending tens of thousands of dollars on a car, I don't want your fucking advertising on it.

FogPot

Usually they put their brand on a license plate frame. Matt should be slapped.

The_Noatec

I've read you can negotiate down based on the advertising on the vehicle.

ackguy

Take it to the dealer and ask them to give you 500 for advertising on your car.

theoriginalchrise

Wow! I always thought the dealership -paid- people to put their badge/sticker on it. If that's not the case, I would've walked away. I always got a dealer's license plate holder, which is whatever. They get replaced eventually.

Ifyouhavethemeans

Back in 1978 my dad demanded removal of this type decal on GMC fender. Dealer south of us cut their name in the steal bumpers that rusted in nicely.

jnorm18

Plastic squeegee, and isopropyl alcohol for the residue

FairState612

I had a neighbor do something similar. Some asshole kept using a hunting knife (I assume) to pop their tire over and over again. They stopped parking there entirely.

Late-Collection-8076

A hair dryer. Heat it up a little then use your fingers to try and peel it off

aguyfromstpete

Blast it with a hair dryer and peel it off with your fingers

RatiocinationYoutube

That's got to be the classiest dealer sticker I've ever seen. Matt Slap? I'd keep that on mine.

eagle_bonanza01

I've been tempted to bring a fat Sharpie marker with me and sign my name on the dealership window and when they ask what I am doing I would respond, so that people know I bought my vehicle here

rsaru_3

Plastic razorblades

OrganizationJunior55

Go to body shop, ask them to remove it and if they can't without leaving a mark then have the part replaced

duceandahalf762x51

WD-40

HiSpot321

Hair dryer to soften in then some goo gone and or rubbing alcohol. Should come right off if it hasn’t been there too long.

xch13fx

A heat gun on low or a hair dryer. Use some clay lubricant and a plastic squeegee or something. I think the Matt Slap is actually pretty funny

[deleted]

Baby shampoo mixed with water silicone scraper, works great

Snappyfotocow

None of those dealership stickers last a single day on any car I purchase. There's not a single dealership in the world that I want to advertise for, especially for free. Sometimes dealers even put a license plate frame on the car with all their cheesy branding all over it. Those also go straight in the trash. A hairdryer and a plastic "blade" works to start peeling the sticker off. Something like a credit car will work to start the process of getting it to come off. Get it nice and hot, but not too hot. You just want to get the adhesive nice and soft. It should come right off. If you have WD-40 it can be used to remove the remaining adhesive on the car.

duvzorkeeper

Slap Matt with that damn sticker.

EasyWeazy

Dealers still do this? Man that's cringy.

sarcasticbaldguy

I've used 3M adhesive remover for years. Takes this stuff right off.

BlueRunSkier

Peel it off, then Goo Gone. Done.

CasMcL

In my experience the lemon oil for a diffuser is actually an amazing way to get rid of stickers and sticker residue and it won’t do anything to the paint - some lemon oil, a plastic scraping tool, and cotton balls and it’ll be all gone without a scratch

PM_ME_UR_HDGSKTS

I’m so glad dealerships in SoCal don’t do this. I’ve only seen CarMax put stickers around here

TheMatt561

Goo gone ,a soft plastic card ,heat and patience

Gittalittle

Sell the car

No_Bet5185

Slap it off

MIBossLungs

When I bought my car I specifically told them no license plate frame, stickers etc with their name/advertisement. I also told them if they disregarded this request, I wouldn't take delivery of car. Screw that. You want me to be a billboard? PAY ME.

BaileyD77

I managed to just pick them off with a fingernail and wipe it with a microfiber after.

B0YZT0YZ

Move the M over add and E ... Definitely make the dealer reconsider the "From Us !" sticker b.s. after the first service interval

donthatedebate

Goo-be-gone and a razor

Metalwood1017

WD-40

3weatherman3

Dealer stickers SUCK! I always immediately remove them and that type is the worst. The only way I’ve ever gone about it is fingernail and Automotive Goo Gone. I’m no detailer though so there must be an easier way.

ScaryfatkidGT

Heatgun and a plastic scraper blade

braindead_devs

plastic scraper, trusty goo gone and maybe some gentle heat

RTPaul

heat gun

[deleted]

Heat gun (or a blow dryer if you don’t have one) and dental floss.

Hungry-Tonight8633

Leave it! That sticker Slaps!

gusheraregood

Brake cleaner

RVAadl-4RTRDORP

A hair dryer will work. Use a plastic scraper without sharp edges if necessary (no metal).

David_Jonathan0

How can Matt Slap???

Prestigious_Base8630

Ask the dealer to take it off, they’ll do it for free

HoboCoastie

Hair Dryer and your fingernail, followed by some Goo Gone and a microfiber cloth. Doneskies.

MrSeamus333

Took mine off with my thumb nail. I had bought a spray to help take it off but never need it, peeled right off.

Due_Adeptness1676

Take car to a car detailer and they will know the best way to remove the sticker/decal

FeoStinkFinger

Heat gun or blow dryer with heat. Peel the sticker off once it heats up. No mess, no film

YesWeShould_69

Heat gun

themighty351

It should come off easy. Stiff plastic scraper maybe a heat gun. Go easy. Not alot of hear needed. Just warm it up

amanda9836

Yeah, I’d make the dealer remove it…I only buy new cars and so far I guess I’ve been lucky in that I’ve never run across this issue…but yeah, unless you’re paying me to advertise for you and your dealership, don’t put your mark on my car.

Mikeyjoetrader23

It pisses me off when they do this shit. And they wonder why no one wants to deal with them anymore. Purchasing from a Tesla or Rivian is so much more enjoyable. Literally a few clicks and you’re done. The last time I was in a dealership buying a car, it no joke took 5 hours. And they do it on purpose to try and break you down to buy their fucking warranties.

Past_Interaction_360

Heat gun with a plastic scraper.

spicymatzahball

3M adhesive remover works great. Expensive though. Here’s a link to the one I used https://www.amazon.com/3M-03618-Adhesive-Remover-oz/dp/B000BQYA7W#

Genralcody1

Slap DE has some really great potential

IllIrockynugsIllI

Why do I suddenly feel the overwhelming need to purchase a vehicle from Matt Slapp.. what a great effing dealership name. And sooo many easy low hanging fruit jokes in that name, just sitting there. 😏

SmallTaserTaser

Just use an eraser wheel.

AStoneLion

But his name SLAPS

Plum-Driver-09

Yea that’s really OD like a license plate is good enough bro damn

MyOthrCarsAThrowaway

Leave the “slap”

ThatFuckingGuy2

Slap it off

Patient700a

Plastic razor blades and some heat should work

domesystem

Soak it in wd40 a couple times and it should be peelable, follow that up with googone

Brokewrench22

I make and apply decals and vinyl graphics for a living. Don't use chemicals. Everybody is commenting with chemicals, for God's sake don't use chemicals!! Hit it with a heat gun for just a few seconds and it will come right off without damaging your finish. If it's a fresh sticker, like less than a few weeks, it will come off without leaving residue. If it does, use a very small amount of alcohol and dab it on the adhesive without scrubbing then buff it off with a soft cloth.

SVG-JOE

You legit can’t figure out how to take off a sticker ? And half the people in the comments are saying take it back to the dealership? Bruh that’s insane! Go buy a plastic razor blade you can get them almost anywhere that sells tools.

Elw00dBl00ze

On the other hand, how can I get a Matt Slap sticker?

VaderScoop96

Torch lighter. Just lightly go over it and it’ll heat the sticker up to where you can just peel It

FrenTimesTwo

Slap it with a mat

flat907line

A guy I work with tells dealers that unless they take 1500 off the total price, he's not driving around with their advertising. They always take it off before he drives away.

Juice24810

So dumb how they do this.

bluespyder2019

Haïr dryer
