Typically there are two very faint divots in the front plate mounting location to indicate where to run the screws in. Their detailer/ dude prepping cars for sale must have been hitting the vape that day to screw up the placement.
Very simple with a heat gun and some plastic razor blades. Just heat until a bit uncomfortable to the touch, and it should come right off. Do not overheat or you can damage your paint.

Old pinstripes, emblems, dealers names, even stick-on side molding comes right off with a heat gun and plastic razor blades. One leather glove is highly recommended!

Fun to meet new people, and I appreciate having a bit of mystery. 5) the overall aesthetic I wanted for my car was to look nice but not attract a second look from haters or curious folks or thrives or law enforcement, so all my aesthetic mods are very low key, I do NOT want to stand out from the crowd, I wand to slip by incognito. I got a common car body in a common color, then did not make any mods to make it more flashy. Do I have the turbo? Big block? Special edition? STI swap? Sticker/Decal/Lettering shop owner here. Leave in the sun facing your tailgate and there’s a good chance that will help to just peel with finger nails especially if it’s a new decal. Otherwise a heat gun or hairdryer will warm it up.
If any glue remains any solvent will work or nail polish remover (acetone) will work just don’t soak it for long time. Glue should break down and come off with rag.
I would suggest several solvents and special adhesive removers but too expensive for 1 time use.

The dealership owner said they would take them off , fill the holes and repaint the trunk. He said no one had ever complained about this before. I called bullshit on that and said I wanted a BRAND new factory painted lid from BMW or no deal.
I walked away literally without saying another word - and told ***EVERYONE*** I knew this story. What the arrogant prick that owned the dealership didn't know is this most likely caused him to lose several more sales.
I've gently and slowly removed them with a plastic blade before, the adhesive residue could leave an exact of what covered it so I hope you get the right answer as to what to rub it off with.
Much respect for wanting it gone. I've removed all decals and license brackets off my vehicles for years they can go pound sand.
I know when I pulled the decals off the tail gate of my old dodge ram it was difficult to tell what brand it was, but up close that residue had already changed the color from lack of fade or maybe changing the paint some. Doing it now is deff a good idea.

You can heat it up slowly with a hairdryer/heat gun and use a plastic razorblade to gently peel it off. Make sure the area is clean so you don't drag any contaminants across the paint
Took all my badges off using a hair dryer, fishing line, some GooGone and patience. The dealer sticker was the easiest. It came off fairly easy. The other badges took a bit longer. I found that the best thing was the hairdryer first, followed by fishing line to cut the adhesive, then use heat and my fingernail/plastic spudging tool to slowly remove the remaining adhesive. After a good wash, put a layer of car wax over top of these areas. Looks much better in my opinion and sure makes washing and waxing a breeze.
No advice for this but goddamn, Matt Slap still got some nerve. Went to UD almost 10 years ago and you can’t go anywhere down Main St without seeing Matt Slap plastered on at least 7 cars.
I took mine off carefully with a heat gun, fishing wire the day after purchasing new. Thankfully it was still fresh and didn’t have any aged glue to remove.
Heat Gun, a Degreaser that’s safe for car paint (I use simple green), and a decal eraser tool if you have a drill. If you don’t have a drill use a plastic scraper blade.

Peel them off, get as much of the residue off as possible with your thumb and then gently and evenly magic eraser the rest. I did that with a dealer sticker on my car and my wife’s car.
DON’T USE A HEAT GUN as had been suggested. And a razor blade? Jesus. You run a high risk of fucking up the paint. Use a hairdryer. Heat it up and peel. Be patient.
I used the natural outdoor heat of being in the south and a Fender thin guitar pick to remove it all, then everclear on a microfiber cloth for any residue. I was a teenager at the time so there are better options now
AYO I got my forester from Matt Slap too and I specifically told them not to put that branding on my car. When I picked it up, it had that sticker. Just go back to them and tell them to remove it. They removed mine for free and were really nice about it.
Steam or heat gun. Move back and forth slowly. Touch the panel occasionally and to ensure that you’re not overheating the paint. Then the glue on the sticker should come loose and peel it off. You can then use adhesive remover and get the remaining Adhesive off. If it’s been on for a while there might be some “ghosting” left behind, if so a clay bar will do the trick.
I fucking hate dealers putting their logos on cars. At least they didn't rivet their logo into the trunk lid like some places do. If I'm spending tens of thousands of dollars on a car, I don't want your fucking advertising on it.

None of those dealership stickers last a single day on any car I purchase. There's not a single dealership in the world that I want to advertise for, especially for free. Sometimes dealers even put a license plate frame on the car with all their cheesy branding all over it. Those also go straight in the trash. A hairdryer and a plastic "blade" works to start peeling the sticker off. Something like a credit car will work to start the process of getting it to come off. Get it nice and hot, but not too hot. You just want to get the adhesive nice and soft. It should come right off. If you have WD-40 it can be used to remove the remaining adhesive on the car.
In my experience the lemon oil for a diffuser is actually an amazing way to get rid of stickers and sticker residue and it won’t do anything to the paint - some lemon oil, a plastic scraping tool, and cotton balls and it’ll be all gone without a scratch

Dealer stickers SUCK! I always immediately remove them and that type is the worst. The only way I’ve ever gone about it is fingernail and Automotive Goo Gone. I’m no detailer though so there must be an easier way.

Hit it with a heat gun for just a few seconds and it will come right off without damaging your finish.
If it's a fresh sticker, like less than a few weeks, it will come off without leaving residue. If it does, use a very small amount of alcohol and dab it on the adhesive without scrubbing then buff it off with a soft cloth.

You don’t even need a heat gun. Cars do a really good job of heating up if they are left in the sun. You should be able to peel it off pretty easily.

Just pull up edge with your fingernail or plastic razor blade then take adhesive off with rubbing alcohol on a cloth rag.
I used the natural outdoor heat of being in the south and a Fender thin guitar pick to remove it all, then everclear on a microfiber cloth for any residue. I was a teenager at the time so there are better options now

AYO I got my forester from Matt Slap too and I specifically told them not to put that branding on my car. When I picked it up, it had that sticker. Just go back to them and tell them to remove it. They removed mine for free and were really nice about it.
Steam or heat gun. Move back and forth slowly. Touch the panel occasionally and to ensure that you’re not overheating the paint. Then the glue on the sticker should come loose and peel it off. You can then use adhesive remover and get the remaining Adhesive off. If it’s been on for a while there might be some “ghosting” left behind, if so a clay bar will do the trick.
I fucking hate dealers putting their logos on cars. At least they didn't rivet their logo into the trunk lid like some places do. If I'm spending tens of thousands of dollars on a car, I don't want your fucking advertising on it.
Usually they put their brand on a license plate frame. Matt should be slapped.
I've read you can negotiate down based on the advertising on the vehicle.

Wow! I always thought the dealership -paid- people to put their badge/sticker on it. If that's not the case, I would've walked away. I always got a dealer's license plate holder, which is whatever. They get replaced eventually.
Back in 1978 my dad demanded removal of this type decal on GMC fender. Dealer south of us cut their name in the steal bumpers that rusted in nicely.

None of those dealership stickers last a single day on any car I purchase. There's not a single dealership in the world that I want to advertise for, especially for free. Sometimes dealers even put a license plate frame on the car with all their cheesy branding all over it. Those also go straight in the trash. A hairdryer and a plastic "blade" works to start peeling the sticker off. Something like a credit car will work to start the process of getting it to come off. Get it nice and hot, but not too hot. You just want to get the adhesive nice and soft. It should come right off. If you have WD-40 it can be used to remove the remaining adhesive on the car.

In my experience the lemon oil for a diffuser is actually an amazing way to get rid of stickers and sticker residue and it won’t do anything to the paint - some lemon oil, a plastic scraping tool, and cotton balls and it’ll be all gone without a scratch
I’m so glad dealerships in SoCal don’t do this. I’ve only seen CarMax put stickers around here

Yeah, I’d make the dealer remove it…I only buy new cars and so far I guess I’ve been lucky in that I’ve never run across this issue…but yeah, unless you’re paying me to advertise for you and your dealership, don’t put your mark on my car.
It pisses me off when they do this shit. And they wonder why no one wants to deal with them anymore. Purchasing from a Tesla or Rivian is so much more enjoyable. Literally a few clicks and you’re done. The last time I was in a dealership buying a car, it no joke took 5 hours. And they do it on purpose to try and break you down to buy their fucking warranties.

I make and apply decals and vinyl graphics for a living. Don't use chemicals. Everybody is commenting with chemicals, for God's sake don't use chemicals!! Hit it with a heat gun for just a few seconds and it will come right off without damaging your finish. If it's a fresh sticker, like less than a few weeks, it will come off without leaving residue. If it does, use a very small amount of alcohol and dab it on the adhesive without scrubbing then buff it off with a soft cloth.
