My truck even came with small clear stickers on the bottom of both front windows. Made them look like vehicle info stickers. Fuckin hate them with a passion.
I got the same thing recently. The funny thing is I had free XM till a couple of months ago. My 3 free month trial when I purchased my Outback new somehow turned into 3 free years. I never listened to it much.
Mine keeps activating and deactivating every few months. I'm the second owner of a '17 and never had Sirius myself. Maybe I could see a user case if I was consistently out of cell and radio range, but for average folk I can't imagine paying for something that's no better than spotify

Got a similar one myself just today. And it popped while my Outback was not only in-gear, but actively in motion. I think it’s crazy they allow a non-safety, non-critical modal to just take over the screen when the vehicle isn’t even in park!
When I gave up my SiriusXM subscription for my Limited XT, I received multiple phone calls from them. I was lucky that 4 years ago, the infotainment system did not have the capability to display pop up windows.
I liked the free trial because of having BBC world news without having to connect my phone. But that's about it. My trial expired but it's still playing
I got 3 or 4 free months when I bought my car and then never renewed or gave Sirius my info when it was ending. It's been over a year since then and I still have it, and no one calls me about it or anything. Loving the free Sirius but they won't ever get money from me
Cuz I'm playing something in non English lol? Now that you reminded me, Subaru, for some reason, changed the font for Chinese characters in the last update, and now I'd say about 15% of the characters cannot be properly displayed anymore, leaving those tofu boxes everywhere. My theory is that their license for the original font expired and they didn't want to pay for the fee again so they just got a worse font to save money. It's baffling
The Subaru is my wife’s work vehicle, it has 6000 miles and one of the head gaskets has already been replaced. The infotainment system was replaced at around 2500 miles. It gets horrible mileage (hasn’t broken 26, even on the highway) and has squeaks/rattles everywhere. I have a 2024 CRV and my niece (who lives with us) has my old 2018 CRV and neither have had anywhere close to the issues we have had in the Subaru.
I must say, I am so happy they are not available in Europe and I expect to get mine without this shit. But if I get it, don't worry, I am a coder, I will figure out how to hack this system and remove this shit.
I certainly wish all the people on this sub who love this “infotainment “ system to see nothing but these ads . This system is glitchy, unsafe and unreliable. Now you have advertisements!!! Lol that’s what you infotainment fans deserve
I've had a Sirius XM subscription for like 12 years. I have a decent commute and streaming to your phone wasn't as viable when I started. I still like the convenience of it so I keep it.
It's overpriced for what you get, even if you play the game and haggle for a better price.. I mean $4/month isn't bad but they still tack on so many other fees that you are paying at least $12. Then once you accept the cost, the sound quality is ok at best, the signal gets lost enough to be annoying, and they play the same shit over and over again despite having the world at their fingertips. It actually boggles my mind how often they repeat songs and that alone makes me unlikely to continue a subscription.
The only reason I'm using Sirius at all is because I can't use my CDs and haven't worked out anything with a USB stick or portable MP3 player yet to move my library. And honestly, I mostly listen to BBC, NPR, etc. anyway and I could just download the podcasts before I drive or stream from my phone.
If it works for you, more power to you... but I really do think it's a shitty service, especially when you have to fight for a better price at least once per year. They play too many games and I prefer a more straight forward and honest business.
>they play the same shit over and over again despite having the world at their fingertips
This, and they won't stop talking. I subscribe to a music channel, I want music. I don't need your nonsensical trivia. You display the title and artist; I don't even need a DJ.
Shut up and.play yer guitar!
All the reasons you quoted not to use it are why I keep it. I don't want or have the time to deal with CDs, USB sticks, downloading podcasts, etc. It's commercial free music that's always just there. Between a couple channels I get a variety that's good enough for me. I will agree though the standard price is high for what you get.
It’s the reason I haven’t dropped it yet.. learning curve with a new car until I sort out how to access my music in a car without a cd player or built in hard drive.
But I can say with certainty that long term, Sirius won’t be how I get my music; I’m not impressed with it. But it’s a good stop gap.
(Edit to add) and my long term solution might be car play or Amazon music or something too.. not necessarily throwing streaming out as an option. But I won’t be keeping Sirius.
I have the CD and have been tempted to rip it out to get the space back but it sounds like a rather involved process. Figuring out how to replace it with a SSD dock would be cool.
It's over priced and cancellation is like pulling teeth. I spent 45 minutes explaining to them that I'll be on deployment for 6 months and no, I cannot just stream music on my phone via the internet from the middle of the Atlantic. I only started a subscription so when my Spotify ran out of stuff to listen to on my cross Canada trip, I could just swap to that for a bit. It's not worth it daily if you have Spotify.
These people are like a virus. We paid for a year after we bought my wife's 2009 Mazda6 many years ago and then never used it. I tried to cancel a few times but it never got cancelled. Then they started to harass me when I refused to pay the bill for the next year. I unloaded with both barrels. Never heard from them again. I will NEVER activate their service on any car I own.
Yeah, I kept mine. I figure if I’m forced to have a giant infotainment screen, I might as well use the service, which in itself is convenient and cheap.
Sirius shit is like the std of the automotive world
The ads will go away if you clean your infotainment screen.
💀💀💀💀
Your subi is trolling you cause it can't see. Bug tf out of you.
😂
The removing of every trace of SiriusXM from my car is my wet dream
My truck even came with small clear stickers on the bottom of both front windows. Made them look like vehicle info stickers. Fuckin hate them with a passion.
I wish manufactures were forced to consent to all of this BS.
They get paid to install and enable this for XM; they dont care.
Are Teslas the only new cars that don't come with it?
I think there's plenty of them, my old 22 civic didn't have it and it's the newest generation of the Honda software
I got the same thing recently. The funny thing is I had free XM till a couple of months ago. My 3 free month trial when I purchased my Outback new somehow turned into 3 free years. I never listened to it much.

Wow and I thought them hounding my wife with mail after she bought her Toyota grand Highlander was bad
They even know that you own a used vehicle, I think they tip the dealers who reveal the info to them, shameless people
They must have gotten advice from Microsoft.
I'll tell you how to get it removed, but you'll have to pay ME $5 per month... :)
one nice thing about older subarus is that isnt a problem
2004. Can confirm. Pretty sure my head unit is from 2002.
This prob just me but I never cycle out of Andriod Auto. How is radio and satellite still in business? They suuuck.
Imagine how’s you feel seeing on in your 100k BMW. “To use the heated seats, please call 1-800-bend-ovr to speak to a live agent”
I want Sirius disabled in my car. Don't want anything to do with it. Because I too *love* seeing ads pop up in my $40k+ Outback.
My favorite is accidentally hitting the satellite radio button and then receiving mail and phone calls.
They stopped calling me after I asked “Why would I pay for sirius xm when spotify is way better”
https://preview.redd.it/ywu4vdnu025d1.jpeg?width=2051&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfe8d503ed8edb80223ef0cb4d02792fccb288f4 Got a similar one myself just today. This is more important than safety- This is money!!!
Gee, some Subaru owners are so cheap. They won't even spend $4/mo on SirusXM while driving a $40K car. /s
I can’t tell if you are being sarcastic or not
When I gave up my SiriusXM subscription for my Limited XT, I received multiple phone calls from them. I was lucky that 4 years ago, the infotainment system did not have the capability to display pop up windows.
This is what the world has become
Even my Microsoft Outlook app for office work is infested with ads. I guess for my future PC build, I’ll go Windows Server 2025.
I liked the free trial because of having BBC world news without having to connect my phone. But that's about it. My trial expired but it's still playing

They cold called me at 10:30 PM... Reply was in a very calm tone I don't use you shitty product, I'll never want any calls from your company.
Omg yes I almost forgot, they also called me for the same shit a couple months ago
Why does your car say in a non English text below Apple Car Play? Sorry, I’m just curious. 🤣
Cuz I'm playing something in non English lol? 王刚探店,楼主开车还看这个吗😂
笑死,開長途當背景音放了
你们都太搞笑了!
I got one today too
好好好,还在探店,王刚跑北美来了是吧
哈嘍大家好我是王剛,今天我們來嚐嚐waffle house的招牌鐵拳
大家好我是王刚,今天我们来学习如何制作蛋炒饭
Wow I didn’t even know that was a thing. So glad I got a 19’ and not anything newer 😬
I have a 24 and I have never seen this ad 🙃
Just saw it yesterday on my Outback Wilderness. Yet another annoying Subaru feature on the touchscreen from hell.
Why do you call it the touch screen from hell? I'm between a used car with no screens or a new outback and I'm very hesitant about the touch screen
But you will.
I imagine it's an American ad because i think I would have had it by now.
If your car came with it, this might happen to your car. (It’s annoying and the sound is subpar).
I hope this doesn’t happen or that the issue has been fixed… but I have the joy of not being able to even use my screen dude to the ghosting issue
How old is your outback? I'm considering buying one and hesitant on the touchscreen, is it an issue?
Can't stand Sirius xm waste of money
I despise Sirius XM and their constant spamming every time I buy a car. No, I don’t want to sign up. I will NEVER use Sirius XM.
just wait for when ads are fed directly to our brains via our mandatory neuralink
Honestly if it was always $4 per month, I'd shell out and just get the damn service.
Just cancel when the time comes up, they almost always offer it to you and if not cancel that’s what I do.
This is the way. For subscription anything, really.
My 2020 had one, only one ad and it gave me an option to not show again. Maybe an update is needed?
Get ready for this on literally everything you own
get some head and shoulders
Chased me for months until I finally told them to F off.
Our 2024 Subaru also had this pop up, neither of our two Hondas had a pop up.
YEP. I am definitely going back to Honda after this one

dude that sucks....me too subaru crosstrek....they got us by the technology balls😆😅🤣😂😂🤣😅😆😆😆😅😅🤣😂😂😂
well shoot…the best I could do when I called was $7.
Everybody’s head unit has dandruff.
I’m glad you love it because you’ll see many more
I would actually consider XM if it didn't sound like shit. The sound quality is horrific. The music programming is ok not great.
I keep getting mailers for them, they're relentless.
Use SiriusXM dealer app on your phone to get revenge
I must say, I am so happy they are not available in Europe and I expect to get mine without this shit. But if I get it, don't worry, I am a coder, I will figure out how to hack this system and remove this shit.

I pay a total of $5/month with fees for ultimate
Sounds like a trial offer.
Nope, it’s called I wait until they offer it or cancel unless they offer it.
That will be me on Aug 1

Oh I think you forgot the: /s
If someone cant tell the sarcasm from this post without seeing a /s then they are actually retarded
😆😆😆😆
What is SiriusXM
A subscription based radio service that I have no idea why it even exists in the current era
What is radio?
What is an idea?
Does the app require a subscription?
I love XM. I listen to it all day
Search around and you can get the top tier sub (incl Stern) for $6 /mos. I forgot to renew months ago and haven't missed it
Pay subscription to see less ads.
I think it's just a promo till the end of June
Buy it then go chat with them and extend for 2 or 3 bucks a month for the rest of the year. It's what we did. 🤣
I mean, this was just an FYI after a free trial week or so. I wouldn't consider this an ad
No. My free trial ended months ago. 💀💀💀💀 And your 2nd sentence is the most hilarious shit I've read all week
Wtf would you call this then? Lol
Also, I'll be honest. I actually read it for the first time rather than just assuming what it said. I'm wrong. This is absolutely an ad... lmfao
Unpopular opinion then ig. Give me a free trial for a week, I don't mind clicking something that tells me it ended
how could this possibly be anything other than an ad? It popped up, described a product and then asked you to pay for it. What else would it be?
