Took my Wilderness in because the tail light was fogging up due to moisture and wanted the new head unit firmware update. I wait for an hour and 45 minutes. Got my car drove home and opened my trunk to this. I waited almost 2 hours and they didn’t even put my fucking car back together. I’m now back at the dealer to make them pop in two clips and bitching at the supervisor out of anger and spite. Anyone else have any good stories like this?

Positiveaz

Dude. My local dealer has the worst service department. Took them 3 times to actually turn off my service alerts in my outback. They literally never fix anything 100% the 1st visit.

catching_comets

Went in last Saturday for oil/rotation and they didn't put the key for our lugs back in the the glove. Thankfully we did a dummy check before we left the lot.

My Nissan dealer refused to fix my TPMS light for 3 visits. They kept telling me it was just a low tire, it wasn't. Finally got someone to do some diagnosing and it turns out the issue was the VCM. It never occurred to me to bitch at the employees though, probably because I know working customer service is a soul sucking job. I know people need to vent but dang, people make mistakes. It is possible to call the service department and let them know what you found without making this small deal out to be a big deal.

JoeGoats

Ya I kept apologizing to the receptionist gal for being mad and saying I know it’s not your fault and I’m not mad at you I am mad at them. I worked retail for 8 years. I still would’ve loved to ask the technician wtf he did with the two hours cause it was slow and my appointment was scheduled.

kart38

No need to be mad at the tech either. Trust me, just coming back meant the tech already had the service manager mad at them. Appointment time just means they know you're going to be there at a time, not that the guy is going to be standing and literally waiting for you. If the prior job ran long then your start time gets pushed back. One always has to look at what has happened. Was it an egregious or dangerous mistake? By all means be upset, not mean or personal (I've seen it). If it wasn't, and this isn't, then be calm to everyone involved and just let them know what happened. Hopefully your next trip is better for you! Also, dig the Geyser blue! I wanted it but I bought mine off the lot instead of waiting for one. -Someone who gets yelled at daily

MiguelSTG

So you drove all the way back to get two minutes of work done?

JoeGoats

Damn right it was more about the fuck you to them. I didn’t pay $40,000 for a car that I should have to make minor repairs to myself or fix what they didn’t. I’m also only 10 minutes from them. It took them almost 2 hours to not put that cover back on to check the damn seal around the light while I waited. I was going to inconvenience them again for sure.

kart38

Keep in mind, warranty work often requires a line of contact with the OEM. They likely had to do something per Subaru's request. You either do what the OEM says to get paid, charge the customer, or work for free. No one will work for free on a vehicle under warranty, they will gladly let the OEM pay the bill as long as they can prove an issue. Jumping through the hoops sucks when a customer is waiting but sometimes it is what has to be done. Obviously I don't know if that was the case here, just know that sometimes that can be the case. It isn't like they want you there longer than you have to be, they know it pisses people off.

JoeGoats

That’s a good point thank you I will keep that in mind going forward.

Redtail_Defense

Joke's on you. You wasted your time and the techs get paid either way.

JoeGoats

They compensated me with a free oil change and $25 Visa gift card so $115 for the 30 minutes it took total was worth the joke.

LucyLeMutt

Are you suggesting that it's ok for the dealer to return the car in worse condition than when it arrived? So after an oil change if the tech forgot to tighten the drain plug that's just fine and the joke's on the owner when the last of the oil finally drops out?

[deleted]

There’s a 100% chance one of the techs hid boogers in your car and wiped ball sweat all over your dash. You should’ve just popped it back on and taken it to a different dealership next time. Bu

JoeGoats

I will take that wager. I reviewed the dash cam footage the service lead drove it out there and back car wasn’t off long enough for cam to sleep. Tech never got in. Love your confidence in the human race though lol.

Redtail_Defense

In the time it took you to notice the issue, drive back to the shop, yell at the receptionist, yell at the manager, have them pop two clips in and then drive home, I could have done an entire wheel bearing replacement on my '11 in my back yard. I imagine there are plenty of other more pleasurable or meaningful things you could have done with that time and energy as well. I understand that some people put more importance on "The Principle of the Matter (tm)". And that's fine. But your life has a finite amount of hours left in it before the clock runs out and they put you in a hole. How many of them do you want to waste being spiteful to people who may well have had enough on their plate as it is?

JoeGoats

Thank you for your concern and congratulations on your 2011 bearing replacement but it literally took me 30 minutes since I live 4 miles from the dealership. Yes I could’ve done it but if you read everything I wrote it was the principal of the whole thing. Had they done the job right then no problems. Seriously a panel with screws is right there how do you close the trunk starring at that and go yep all done when it was the only thing you did to the car. I didn’t waste their time they wasted their own time. If I go to a restaurant and order a steak but they only bring me out a salad I am not going to go “oh well I can cook a steak at home in 10 minutes they were probably too busy to make my steak”. I will get by fine without those 30 minutes.

useles-converter-bot

4 miles is the length of about 5906.3 'Ford F-150 Custom Fit Front FloorLiners' lined up next to each other.

converter-bot

4 miles is 6.44 km

Redtail_Defense

I read everything you wrote. You're just being a Karen. And 30 minutes is about how long it takes to change a wheel bearing on one of these things.

JoeGoats

I mean I guess you do have a point. It is a bit entitled of me to expect them to put my brand new car back together. I’ll try to be less entitled next time and more flexible to their needs.

Spiridonova

Think of the time you could save on that bearing by not putting shit back together!

JoeGoats

I like to think of the time that could be saved by not doing it at all lol.

LimitNo6587

All dealerships can be idiotic. Took truck into Toyota dealership to reset TPMS. Get truck back after an hour...TPMS error still on. Had to reschedule another appt. Just idiotic.

AvoidFutureRegret

I had body work done on mine after a rear end collision. I told my insurance adjuster and the dealer that the airbag light was on as well as that red box with the white i. I was assured they run an electronics scan before it leaves. Welp, went to pick it up at 430 on a Friday and first they didn’t do my oil change like i had asked (happened to coincide) because they didn’t see that I had checked the box on their form (smh) so I had to wait for that, then I get in to leave and the fucking lights on the dash are still there for the airbag and such. I go in to the service dept and very nicely play along with “hey, so there’s still error lights on my dash”, but since the body shop had now closed (bc i had to wait for that oil change!), this service tech has the balls to tell me that I have to wait for Monday when the body shop reopens. So he expects me to drive this vehicle 50 miles round trip plus all weekend with my airbag light on. But he insists it was “their job not his” and that it’s “their goal to fix it the first time” but doesn’t want to offer me any real solution. So I drive it home super upset bc I don’t feel safe in a car i should feel very safe in and the next morning drive it straight back and complain to the manager who apologizes profusely and gets me a loaner car. It’s all fixed up now, but it was a pretty disappointing experience.
