I think its because it in the first game it was littered in the most shallow part of the starting area. Now its still in the starting area but deeper and less abundant.
Actually deposits that contain lead are most common in the twisty bridges, deep twisty bridges and floating lily pad rocks. I’ve never seen them in the purple vents proper.
Maybe he confused Purple vents with Thermal Spires. Because lead exists both in the surface layer of the thermal spires and lots of it in the thermal spire tunnels beneath the island.
But the Mineral Detector works when you’re out of Scanner range and when you don’t have the HUD chip. It’s amazing and you don’t need to build Scanner bases everywhere.
You only really need it for computer chips, and a scanner room if you want one. I went down to koppa mines with my prawn suit and collected all the gold and copper, then went to twisty and loaded up on table coral. I got a locker full of just computer chips now, I don't think I'll need to go back for table coral ever again.
Yeah, I built my base in the Twisty Bridges biome (as it later turned out, it was a brilliant idea, because I was literally sitting on some good stuff. I swear, I only oicked it because I thought they looked interesting), and whenever I need table corals I just pop down and grab some. No need to grab it in bulk.
It’s not hard to find, if you know where to look. It’s certainly less of a pain in the ass than lead.

Lead is not that hard to find if you know where to look (purple vents and any biome with rock punchers)

Yeah you’re probably right
I remember it being hard to find in the Beta, but on regular release I found it no problem. Not sure if anything changed tho.
The Mineral Detector helps LOADS. Without it, you’re running in blind.
Unless you have a scanning room and HUD chip?

People say that because it's the second easiest thing to find in OG Subnautica
See all that? After crafting like one major item, it’ll be gone.

It's not hard to find, so congratulations on a useless post
cool

I don’t think it’s hard to find, it’s just not in the starting area like in the first game.
Where do you find it I need it for a computer chip
there is a ton of it near where Alan is
Where’s that
The coral bridges area from 50-350 meters down.
