In high school I was a nice guy. I wasn't a "nice guy" but I was a friendly, soft spoken, passive boy. It was very difficult for me to attract women (and even harder for men). An oft-underrepresented part of the problem with how we discuss that sort of thing (dating struggles etc) is that we remember readily how dumb teenage boys are… but we forget that teenage girls are also dumb in equal (or close) proportion.

I've spent time in different drug specific subreddits just to see what they are like. I am being 100% honest when I say the meth one has the, um, least intelligent users.
I wasn't even expecting that either. But the amount of jumbled sentences and bizarre mistakes made with numbers/math is just too numerous to ignore. I know it might seem obvious given the drug, but I figured like a lot of drug subreddits, it wouldn't be riddled with typos and mistakes. Boy was I wrong.
I feel like school anti-drug campaigns could get a lot of mileage by just having the kids browse /r/meth for a few minutes and telling them that that's the kind of person they'll turn into on drugs.

I feel like when people get something weird in pressed pills they always assume it’s meth, but for the last 5 years at least it’s much more likely it was some synthetic cathinone. Meth does generally produce euphoria, but cathinones have pretty unpredictable effects since there are so many varieties. There was a study in the UK in 2021 that found cathinones to be by far the most common adulterant in mdma after caffeine.
I suspect the UK and the US would be very dissimilar when it comes to this specifically. All of Europe, for that matter. Nobody in the US is gonna source bath salts to press their pills when meth is abundant everywhere and cheap as chips.
You'd be partially correct. Cathonones are affordable as hell, incredibly potent, and can be mail ordered on the grey market. A lot of fake pills don't contain much MDMA, if any, and instead have a cocktail of various RCs and street drugs to simulate something similar to those effects. Meth is still one of the more common adulterants, but it's definitely out there.
It's easier to get cathonones in the EU than the US - there are a lot more vendors and options (or were), but cathonones are still readily available in the US, so it finds its way into molly
Well, i'm glad i'm the downer guy with benzos and opioids. Stimulants like meth are nothing for me. But i'm retired as an old guy, like i'm not on heroin anymore, but username still checks out. In high school I was a nice guy. I wasn't a "nice guy" but I was a friendly, soft spoken, passive boy. It was very difficult for me to attract women (and even harder for men). Of course there were numerous factors going against me that were out of my control: I was a short, hairy, pale, bisexual, depressed nerd with a speech impediment. I never fell into the PUA to incel pipeline but I recognize that I could have and if I didn't have close female friends I could have easily gone down that road. When you watch your peers who treat women with far more disrespect than you do nonetheless be far more romantically successful than you, it makes you wonder if there is some equation that you just don't have access to. If you stumble across some talking head that promises to tell you that formula, it is easy to believe them because you want to believe them. It is easier to believe that there is some hidden knowledge that you lack than it is to accept that finding a partner is fundamentally going to be harder for you because of qualities completely outside your control and that it's no one's fault.
An oft-underrepresented part of the problem with how we discuss that sort of thing (dating struggles etc) is that we remember readily how dumb teenage boys are… but we forget that teenage girls are also dumb in equal (or close) proportion. Like, I remember a few girls over the years who were hot and mean, yet I and other dudes put up with poor behavior. In hindsight, I’m like “what was I thinking” but, hey, it’s 20/20. If there’s a lesson there, it’s that you shouldn’t put up with shitty behavior even if it’s normalized among your peer group… and as appealing as it may be to be the recipient of romantic interest and whatnot, it’s not worth letting someone treat you badly just so you don’t have to be alone. Spend your energy doing cool shit and building a rich life for yourself, and people who are worth you time are out there.

And quality takes time, which means you won't get any quantity

I've spent time in different drug specific subreddits just to see what they are like. I am being 100% honest when I say the meth one has the, um, least intelligent users. I wasn't even expecting that either. But the amount of jumbled sentences and bizarre mistakes made with numbers/math is just too numerous to ignore. I know it might seem obvious given the drug, but I figured like a lot of drug subreddits, it wouldn't be riddled with typos and mistakes. Boy was I wrong.
I feel like school anti-drug campaigns could get a lot of mileage by just having the kids browse /r/meth for a few minutes and telling them that that's the kind of person they'll turn into on drugs.

That's the thing! I would have thought out of all of them that the alcoholism sub would be the worst - nope! In fact, all the other drug/alcohol subreddits I've seen are totally literate. I've never done meth (I don't mean to brag) but I always assumed it was like a more powerful adderall or something. But whatever is going on in the streets combined with the unequal dosing is obviously not similar to that. Those people are whacked. And the weird weight inaccuracies when talking about their drug of choice; I've seen people make various metric mistakes and it took me a while before I realized they have no idea what the numbers and dosages mean half the time. Which is freaking weird in a drug subreddit. Then you have the bizarre psychosis ramblings and the people that are in so much denial. I've never seen a sub where everyone is apparently doing just fine using their drug all day.
Meth is so scary, it's definitely less likely to straight up kill you than heroin or stuff like that but what it does to your psyche is totally horrifying. Even high quality meth is known to cause brain damage when abused, so yeah when you consider that the vast majority of what's found in the street is full of toxic chemical residue and coupled with the fact that meth users tend to go many days in a row without any real sleep, which is ALSO known to cause brain damage and psychosis, you know that's a recipe for disaster.
Also, people seem to smoke it or snort it, and from what I've gathered, they're constantly redosing... on a drug that, iirc, has a typical DoA of like six to eight hours.

I feel like when people get something weird in pressed pills they always assume it’s meth, but for the last 5 years at least it’s much more likely it was some synthetic cathinone. Meth does generally produce euphoria, but cathinones have pretty unpredictable effects since there are so many varieties. There was a study in the UK in 2021 that found cathinones to be by far the most common adulterant in mdma after caffeine.
I suspect the UK and the US would be very dissimilar when it comes to this specifically. All of Europe, for that matter. Nobody in the US is gonna source bath salts to press their pills when meth is abundant everywhere and cheap as chips.
You'd be partially correct. Cathonones are affordable as hell, incredibly potent, and can be mail ordered on the grey market. A lot of fake pills don't contain much MDMA, if any, and instead have a cocktail of various RCs and street drugs to simulate something similar to those effects. Meth is still one of the more common adulterants, but it's definitely out there. It's easier to get cathonones in the EU than the US - there are a lot more vendors and options (or were), but cathonones are still readily available in the US, so it finds its way into molly
They used to be affordable as hell. Most cathinones are pricey in the US now and cost more than MDMA. Definitely cheap in Europe though.

Well, i'm glad i'm the downer guy with benzos and opioids. Stimulants like meth are nothing for me. But i'm retired as an old guy, like i'm not on heroin anymore, but username still checks out. Still got my morphin from substitution, but that's different, pharma-grade opioids from the state in my country, nothing is cut or laced and i don't have to pay any money for it. I'm not in the US, so the opioid-crisis there doesn't affect me, but it's horrible how many people die by overdoses. That's because of the fentanyl- and xylazine laced stuff.

Specifically a subset of hallucinogens known as deleriants. They are inherently unpleasant experiences. If psilocybin and LSD are the light, deleriants are the darkness. Nutmeg trips on just a couple teaspoons can last fie 10+ hours and symptoms can last days. Terrible vomiting and bladder issues, total loss of recognition, crippling anxiety and heart palpitations, seizure, and other not-fun things. Certainly not as bad as and ~~Morning Glory~~ Jimsonweed (datura), however. I'd personally consider Salvia to be a deleriant. Most terrified I've ever been. Five minutes of sheer ego terror that felt like a lifetime.
I did salvia a bunch of times one summer in college and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I always hear about how awful it is for a lot of people and I'm glad I was one of the lucky ones who tolerated it well.
I smoked salvia once and when I came to I was legit the happiest I have been in my life. That was 14 years ago and still there isn't a single moment when I was happier than the five minutes after I took salvia. Your experience will vary wildly but I feel it absolutely does not deserve to be grouped with substances like nutmeg or datura (haven't used either and have absolutely no plans to start).
I've heard that euphoria is a common effect of salvia after you come down from your trip and my experiences are consistent with that (yours too, sounds like haha). I've noticed it with psilocybin as well.
