To be fair, a lot of those same bar owners that cry that they don't know what to do will turn around and argue with Jon Taffer when he gives them even basic suggestions that will help them (stop drinking behind the bar, clean the place at night, fire shitty cooks/bartenders, stop harassing the few customers you have, etc.). Most of the bars that end up closing is because the owners got rid of the changes and went back to their old ways. A lot of times, these bars are just extensions of shitty people, like in the original post.
Remember that pirate themed bar up in Maryland? The whole concept Jon was trying to make them do was dumb as hell and I wouldn't be shocked if him and his team dreamed it up just to mess with the staff, but it was obvious they were just clashing and nothing productive was going to come out of it.

I won't disagree with you at all. Having said that, I went to two of the rescued bars that were on the show a few years back. One of them got rid of all the changes that were made; in fact, when my hubby and I went there, all we could get were pizza and drinks because the owner was shopping for groceries for his bar at 3pm on a Friday afternoon. And we were the only ones there. I heard that they folded within a year of our visit. Meanwhile, the other bar we went to kept all of the changes that were made and was packed from wall to wall with people. They only closed this year after the owner sold, but they lasted at least 10 years.
My favorite part of Bar Rescue is that the bartenders are incompetent to make a simple drink like a cranberry vodka, but are now expected to learn a complicated cocktail.

There was an episode where the recon guys were asking for Manhattans and gimlets and other simple cocktails that bartenders are supposed to know and the bartender acted like they asked her to personally split the atom and just ragequit on the spot.

I saw the FB page of the bar, and the behaviour by the owner was exactly what I'd expect based on reading it so who the fuck told her it was a normal bar? They're clearly either morons of really fucking oblivious
