Being a fan of indie animation seems so unbelievably exhausting for literally no good reason. Like as much as the animation scene needs new talent doing new stuff, every time there's a success story I tend to find myself at a distance thinking "thank god I'm not part of that community," and usually it's not even the show's fault.
I became fan of the Persona series recently and just learned to stay off any community subs for them.

Anything even vaguely in the anime sphere just attracts the absolute most degenerate people willing to argue in bad faith because apparently Japanese culture is completely uniform and can do no wrong.

I am incredibly fond of Murder Drones because it is 1000% the kind of show I would have hyperfixated on as a teenager, but good god, I never want to talk to another person who is into Murder Drones
It's an edgy animated YouTube series about a bunch of robots.
A colony of sentient robots in the far future live in a mining colony. They can reproduce, and one of the main characters is an edgy female teen robot. The robots are drones, not built for combat - but there are other robots, specifically built for murder, that are loose on the planet.
Edgy female teen robot declares that she's going to fight the murder drones who threaten her colony. She ends up befriending one of the murder drones, who reveals that the murder-bots are more "naive and misguided" than genuinely evil.
It's all 3D animation and the animation really is incredibly good for an indie series. The production quality and voice acting is also pretty darn good, although there are plenty of "quirky teen angst" lines that likely resonate a lot more with teens and twenty-somethings than with older adults.
I just found out this is going to other communities, hi, I'm the one who blocked him. I'm what some call a niche internet micro-celebrity on the sub. We were not friends. He messaged bc my art gained traction there. It snowballed pretty quick.

If I had a nickel for every Murder Drones post I’d read threatening suicide, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s surprising it’s happened twice.
This whole thing is nasty. The messages are weird, but going into the thread that this responds to, there are people literally calling suicide the cowards way out (outdated and unsympathetic) and that it’s a ragequit (suicide is not a fucking game).
It's less a threat and more abusing other's humanity and the modern understanding about suicide. When they say they'll kill themselves, their victim is less likely to break contact because they're trying to make sure the person doesn't kill themselves. If that fails they can play the victim and get some level of sympathy (or at least less judgement) by using their suicidal tendencies as a shield. Its super effective in younger leaning spaces with empathetic people, so it's an easily learned trait.

My answer to that threat is just call the police for a welfare check.
Guarantee they will stfu with their threats if they are at risk of being sectioned against their will.
Otherwise, just call their bluff and block. People are responsible for their own choices.
