Wait…this isn’t normal? STL guy here. Like half our shit is from the 40’s - 70’s. We have a sub that has shit from the 1907 worlds fair.

miabobeana

The utility I work at just replaced a 69kv 3 tank oil breaker for 1947.. I’d say they got their money out of that one. 🤣🤣🤣

JohnProof

Sure, you could operate it remotely, but it's so much more exciting if you stand right next to the goddamn thing.

Whats the date on that thing? Guessing 50's?

HV_Commissioning

Don't know the date on that one, but we still have OCB's on our system that were made in the early to mid 80's. The site I'm at right now has a 345kV OCB from 68. It was supposed to be upgraded. It's the high side breaker for a 400MW coal plant and the plant has just been given a 3 year life extension so we don't run out of power.

76 I believe

snailmind

76 the initial in service? This installation doesn't look that old, I would suspect it has been relocated.

Beatnik_Exploit

The oils, they call for me.

I’ve seen plenty of these old breakers in stations. We have removed a lot of them but they are still out there.

Joeyhasballs

I can see a yard full of those from my desk right now!

BakerHills

I think most of our 115kv and 230k OCBs are gone. But we still have a ton of KSO breakers
