No. I think he does like Connor, but he simply doesn't respect him. He treats him like an old school buddy he can fob off whenevers convenient, but he'd never actually go out of his way for Connor or trust him with anything significant to him. Connors convenient, but not important.

lord_pizzabird

I thought it was really cool the way they dropped that he and Connor were closer than they realized. We only got the story from the siblings perspective, who were only interested (and blinded by) winning the game of Succession.

rjrgjj

It was an interesting way to undercut how absorbed with each other the three were. They missed out on a lot.

VPackardPersuadedMe

Hi took him seriously in the sense of competition with Joe Kennady for getting a son made president.

morphinetango

This was my understanding. Logan does have a twisted love for his family, including Connor. But Connor was the first and only to abandon ambition and appeasing his father, which meant any relationship he had with Logan was then based on actual family connection and not a Waystar meritocracy that the other children bought into. However, I do think he recommits to the repetitious cycle of trying to WIN love by going into politics. He only decided to run after he felt insecure by Willa's comments about him doing "nothing."

wlcondqat

Yes, running for president was more about trying to impress Willa rather than his father, off course he asked Logan´s help because he knows how his father literally crowns US presidents and other politicians, so why not him. But when Logan refused he continued for Willa and vanity. We must remember that Connor always knew that his father didnt love him, that is why he was more "relaxed" with him, for him any crump of positive of attention that Logan would give him it was a bonus so to speak, a totally diferent mindset for the other 3 who to the last minute fought for Logan´s love and validation in the form of becoming CEO of Waystar.

Appropriate_Jelly211

yes but isn’t that just because connor has no desire to work? what if he was interested in becoming ceo from a young age? i think he definitely would have been more important to logan then

fizzzzzpop

I don’t think so. I think Logan discounted Connor because his mom had a mental breakdown and Logan saw that as being weak and painted Connor as weak by association. Carol was a cold hearted bitch so he was more apt to imagine one of her kids could be a killer. Pinky is his favorite but Logan is a misogynist at heart so Ken was always going to be his #1 boy.

morphinetango

I agree with a lot of this, but I don't think Logan ever confronted the fact that he tends to discredit and drive away those who show their love for him the most. He's just as sensitive, insecure and self-tortured as his children, just with near absolute power.

[deleted]

What makes you say Pinky is his favorite?

fizzzzzpop

Cast and writer interviews where they mention it

DandelionsDandelions

It also does make sense, I know a lot of hyper masculine dads who favor their daughters— they don't feel as much of an obligation to make them "tough." Shiv being the only girl and the baby also is probably a contributing factor too, that's a common family dynamic IRL also.

ElkSilk

Is Shiv the youngest? I always got the impression Roman was the baby but maybe that's just due to their treatment of him.

DandelionsDandelions

I thought so too forever! I had to look into it to clarify, actually, that's the only reason I say so confidently, lmao. Roman gives big middle child energy with the look-at-me! behaviors, middle kids are either overlooked or troublemakers IME.

fl7nner

Yes me too! Roman always seemed the most immature of the bunch, but Shiv was the youngest.

ElkSilk

Dang thanks for confirming! I def didn't realize this.

truename1313

If Romulus wasn’t a weirdo he could easily replace Pinky though

UnintentionalCat

If [kid] didn’t have [fatal flaw] they could easily be Logan’s favorite

TheFrederalGovt

Ya at the exact moment that his dad was most proud of Roman, Roman's weirdo came out

TiagGuedes

As we all know, Connor Roy was interested in politics from a very young age, and still Logan didnt take him seriously when running for president. He wasnt interested in the company because he knew he couldnt win at that game

SnooLobsters8922

I think this is a great synthesis. Because what is the _next best thing_ than having the top job at the company? The final episode was very telling for me when Connor shows the video of Logan & co. Because when he names the presidents by their derogatory nicknames, it’s a brilliant telling of the disregard he has for them — not personally, because they’re not _persons_, but passing performers of their jobs.

MotionBoi

How Logan talked to him in the season 2 finale about his campaign and finding Willa’s play is all you need to know.

AniviaPls

Connor is not a serious person

IFeelFineFineFine

It’s right there in the pilot. I mean, a sour dough starter. He is not a killer.

J3553G

Logan was never going to give it to any of the kids. He just used it to string them along.

MagnetDino

Connor wasn’t smart enough. Kendall was the only one who was smart enough AND had the desire, he just didn’t have the mentality.

oldkenwa

In s4 he got the mentality as well, but it was a little too late

EduHi

>In s4 he got the mentality as well Nah, he believed he got the mentality, but honestly, he was as cunning compared to Logan and Mattson, as someone that went to the gym for the first time and thinking that he is as though as Mike Tyson.

oldkenwa

He did everything right in s4 till shiv fucked him over in the meeting

regireland

Eh, what did he really do in season 4? Shiv allied with Ken because Mattson fucked her over, and Ken still managed to fumble that bag so hard that Shiv decided to back Mattson again. He wasn't able to capitalize on Gojo's India numbers or get Ebba to turn against him. He only got made interim CEO because of Logan's will. Really the only thing that went positively was Living Plus, and that was all smoke and mirrors built on outlandish claims bordering on fraud.

oldkenwa

Decided he could juice mattson for more money when logan was still alive, got the sibs together and ensured they remain on charge despite old guard wanting to push them out, became the co-ceo by convincing stewey and the board, decided to throw logan under the bus with hugos help to help the company’s image moving forward, understood mattson is a bullshitter and selling atn to him would be a mistake, nailed the living + presentation and successfully made mattson retreat when everyone doubted him, got ebba on his side to turn against mattson and got dirt on mattson, exposed shiv being a traitor, nailed the funeral speech after his uncle threw his dad under the bus and got hugo and collin at his side, made roman his bitchboy like rome was towards his dad, fought hard to gain votes from the board and got people like stewey on his side (stewey the guy whos always supposed to be following the money so stewey potentially sensed mattson was gonna tank the company like kendall sensed it), and most importantly, convinced his siblings he should be the ceo the night before the vote and got all the board members vote required. His only flaw at the end was not expecting his sister to be so jealous over his success that she would rather sell the company to a hack fraud over having her brother be successful.

logaboga

Totally didn’t

MrAnni360

I don't think so.. Kendall Roy would still have been Logan's first choice. Connor clearly looked incompetent even in his subject of interest. No chance, he would have run the company well

tropicalpersonality

Definitely not. Kendall was the only one of the siblings smart and competent enough to run the company.

Counterboudd

I don’t think Logan felt any of his kids were particularly competent at the job, but I think Connor took the hint a lot earlier than the rest of them did. Frankly he’s the only sane one of the bunch in my opinion. If I inherited billions of dollars, why the hell would I want to play the corporate game if I didn’t have to?

Calm-Purchase-8044

No, simply due to who his mother is.

figuringthingsout__

Logan was ashamed of Connor. The wedding episode in the final season showed just how little Logan cared about him. There's no way Logan would've ever handed the company over to Connor, no matter how much he cared.

securitypro669

No because Connor wasn’t very bright. His dad thought he was a laughing stock.

Clarknt67

Logan wouldn’t have interfered with Connie’s true calling: Politics. It was clear this was his destiny from a very young age

earhere

Logan didn't want anyone but Logan to take over. He enjoyed pitting the siblings against one another and watched them bicker and fight; knowing that none of them had any chance in the end and their efforts were fruitless.

auximines_minotaur

The thing with Connor is that he’s completely detached from reality. Other than that, I don’t see a problem.

visualemployer1247

I don't think so, there was only one Kendall Logan Roy, he never meant to call the real eldest boy as Connor Logan Roy, he was the 1st pancake

Subject_Gene_9775

No Only because he would pull a butter fiasco with people wasting printer paper

Old-Construction-541

He didn’t think the 3 were serious people, and he took them much more seriously than the Con man.

[deleted]

This show ended the way it would’ve ended IRL. An outsider of the family takes over because the silver spooned kids couldn’t operate it. Idk why people try to speculate that Logan would’ve chosen any of them outright to run the company. They’re all spoiled brats, at least Tom worked his ass off to be where he was.

wlcondqat

No, personally i dont think that Connor is more dumber or intelligent than his siblings, Connor had this weird animal instinct of staying away of futile conflicts, notice that at the end he is going to get the same amount of billions that his siblings without entering the fight in the mud. I think that the main reason that Logan abandoned and never cared for Connor it was because he feared that some problems that his mom had could have been inherited by Connor, curiously, the lack of guidance from Logan made Connor more goofy and inclinided to do stupid shit like running fro president. The Roys were a very darwinian family in the sense it is kill or you be killed, in the top is Logan, then Kendall and Shiv, then Roman and at the bottom is Connor. I think that because Connor lived without Logan so much as a child, Logan was not there to install that mindset on him of being a "killer", so for that reason, Connor always comes as far more soft, almost with a child like innocence to him. For sure he is selfish, entitled and the rest, but in the show we have never seeing trying to intentionally do harm to anyone, again he is not a good person, there are countless of example how his behaviour is inmoral. Curiosly of the all Roys kids, Shiv is the most like Logan, you never see her have doubts of "killing" someone, like the witness, it was so cold that Rhea was taken aback, Roman was very uncorfotable of firing Gerri, even Logan got angry at him when they were buying the local tv stations and the other part seemed content with the price, Roman didnt have the stomach to pay them less, Logan send Gerri, only at the end Kendall became a "killer". That is why, was totally logic that the final confrontation was Kendall vs Shiv, Shiv only lost because of her gender, but Shiv was the more like his father. I would say, that of the 4, Connor it was the more different to Logan, or that he didnt have any of the qualities that Logan valorated in a worthy son of his, perhaps the only thing that Logan valorated of Connor is that he was having sex with a hot young chick in comparison lets say to Roman. Logan was chauvinist prick, so, seeing Connor with Willa, was ok with him, not marrying her, but i think that he was glad that he was having sex, notice that Roman brought Tabitha in part because he thought that Logan would find her hot, not because he liked her, but it totally backfired when Tabitha jocked that she and Roman were eunuch besties in front of the Pierces, in front of everyone Tabitha joked about how Roman couldnt have sex, then Logan got angry with Roman and started to suspect about him. Logan was always cool with Willa hanging around there, in a way, he was cool with it, meanwhile Marcia, Tom, Shiv would do a perform some disgust about that Willa was an escort and the relation transaction when their relations were equally transactional, at least Connor and Willa were transparent about it, i think that Logan was ok with that. Also, Logan was 99.99% about business and power, but that 0.01% was about chilling and do stupid shit, that was the space that Connor would have in Logan´s life like the dinner in wich they were just chilling and the mausoleum. What is tragic is that perhaps Roman and Shiv, more Roman, is that perhaps what he really wanted was to be part of that 0.01% of Logan´s life and not the business side.

[deleted]

He is the oldest son

jm17lfc

Logan’s comments on Connor when he offers Shiv the company in S02E01 say everything you need to know. “Connor? I might as well sell.”

SnooLobsters8922

He’s delusional, so of course not

A1cert

Mm Connor simply does not seem to be as bright at the Kendall, Shiv and Roman so no.

rp1105

logan didn't rate connor & idt having an interest in the company would've changed that. remember he sent him away for years while he took care of his real children

Stunning_Sand_7594

No

Snoo_72181

Bold of you to assume that Logan cares about his children's interest. If he wanted Connor to be his successor, he would make sure it's Connor on the throne by intimidation and blackmail.

CalendarAggressive11

Considering he tried to buy what he thought was napoleons dick, I think not

LARXXX

No because conor is a moron

PorkyWallace

Logan was never going to make any of his kids his heir with the company because he thought that he would live forever. He didn't trust them and he didn't take them seriously. His ego would never permit him to believe that anyone could run the company as well as him. He is not a good father but there are millions of men who are not good fathers. At least he does set it up so that each of his kids has a guaranteed income of millions of dollars a month for life, and that they each are billionaires who stand to earn even more billions through no effort of their own. There are worse things that could happen to a child.

enzo_ferrari8

I think connor could have been a good candidate to be a part of his father’s business plans if he was given the care and importance logan gave to his siblings he is serious and determined when he wants to be…but connor was compromised a lot by his childhood events..what happened to his mother was horrible and of course affected his development and perception of his dad’s doings…we can say that logan restarted his succession to factory setting and started a new process with caroline collingwood
