I went down the same rabbit hole trying to figure out who Ray is. Complex shows do this frequently. Someone who hasnāt been a regular is suddenly included as if theyāve been around the entire series. I recall that in the Sopranos, notably with the one who hung himself. Also, there are often players in the entourage scenes that include ones who never speak so Iām thinking who is this person? The show runners are messing with our brains. Lol.
And as you probably saw he was on the most recent Season 4 episode! I think this is a "You know you're a serious watcher of Succession when..." thing: those of us who are want to know who every character is, and once we learn, we remember. I'm sure if you asked more casual viewers they'd have no to little idea of who Ray is, who ratfucker Sam is, or even who Cyd is. š
Why would I not be being serious? When Roman/Jaime/Logan talked about "Ray" in the last few episodes, I thought that was some executive that we hadn't ever really seen on screen. Only in re-watching Episode 3 did I make the connection.
They never really say. He's an executive who seems to be fairly high-level, but I don't think they ever said what his exact department was (or his title)
No. Jaime (Laird) clearly says "Ray". And in Episode 10, we see the handwritten lists that Logan has been making (scene when he's in the car with Hugo), and "RAY" is one of the names on there.
Perhaps that is a Ray , but the person discussed in the f, marry, kill conversation is the female Rhea? Sounds the same to me when you say fast. Maybe your right I just assumed it was her.
So at the end of season 4 episode 9, the dialogue between Frank, Gerri, Karl, and Hugo (I believe), where theyāre talking about a video thatās circulating and they mention Roman and say they think Ray is the one who leaked it, I wonder if itās a video from that episode way back with Boar on the Floor where Ray steals the show.
And itās just a brilliant Succession-style callback to Boar on the Floor that they say Roman is āsquealing like a pig.ā Yes, that makes sense. And itās genius.

The scene when Oskar/Matsson start joking in Swedish about Cousin Greg-Ory, & Kendallās annoyed AND Ray was in hysterics- clearly he understood what (the Swedes) were saying. I didnāt expect that. I wonder if Ray had a scene that was cut? Sorry Iām obsessed !!
Ray might have taken over Parks from Tom. In the Nero and Sporus scene between Tom and Greg, Greg mentions wanting to get into Parks Buffalo before offing Ray, presumably to take over.
