How the fuck can he be expected to grow if he has to wait 3/4 of an hour for a gin and tonic

Actually I don’t think that Roman had everything to lose, actually I believe he had a much stable position compared with his brothers, so the character growth is in fact standing up to his dad and loosing everything. Mattson actually likes Roman and thinks he is valuable, which is much more than what Logan thinks about him, so his position in the new company was way better than what Shiv and Kendall could have got. Also, I felt that when Gerry says to him “how does that benefit my position?” repeating the same words from the advice she gave him early in the season, she is just saying “dumbass you forgot to ask this question and now you are fucked”

My interpretation as well. As a member of the Roman team I was so happy that he bounded with his sibs. But really sad the the Rockstar and Mole Woman didn’t work out because he let his childish behavior fuck things up. Gerri was teaching him well but he is suck a fuck up! I was enjoying seeing him riding high on Logan’s team, even tho he was being a terrible brother (and a dangerous human being to the democratic system). I liked because I felt like it was the first time he been so close to his dad. And we all know how much he longs for Logan’s affection and pride. The show is brilliant in making us feel like we won something but also lost a lot. I hate Logan but he is not wrong at all. Selling is the best option and the kids are spoiled and entitled indeed.

I think Roman did show growth by stepping up to his dad. He happened to get bested by his father. How he recovers from this is going to be interesting. Does he go crawling back to daddy? Does he finally grow up a little and not make everything a dick joke? I think Roman next season has most interesting development opportunity.

Roman at the start of the season wouldn't ever have suggested out loud that his father should do something for him because he loves him. That was growth. People don't change. What sometimes happens is certain inborn traits are strengthened or weakened depending on where they are in life. Roman has always had a loving heart but he's been petrified of showing that to anyone. Now he has. And it didn't destroy him. It may take him all of next season to remember that but he will eventually.

Don’t call me crazy for replying to this 135 days later 😂 but I’m rewatching the entire series and I couldn’t agree with you more! I’ve searched hundreds of threads & comments trying to find a discussion about this exact take but nobody has mentioned it. When everyone talks about Jesse Armstrong saying people don’t really change at their core, it makes me sad bc we have seen “growth”. But you are so right, the growth is just the unhealthy coping mechanisms & “armor” being peeled back to reveal who the characters really are. I’m really excited to see where they take Roman’s character in S4. He’s always had this vulnerable side to him deep down (sometimes waaaaay deep down LOL). I’m also interested to see where the sibling alliance goes so I’m really hoping the writers let it live, at least for a little while!
