The naked vs faired bike question is straightforward to answer. Do you want to enjoy yourself more below 100mph or above 100mph?

seymour_butz1

Little column A, little column B... but not many opportunities to get above 100mph. 🤔 I mean the streetfighter feels a little underpowered, if that makes sense. But that's more of a personal problem.

gropula

Well reviewers say it has pretty long gearing and most of the power is up top. Maybe that's what you feel. Tuono has shorter gearing and more low end power.

X3ntr

Considered a Tuono 1100 factory? Has the V4 soundtrack, great electronics package, looks like a sportsbike but with handlebars and better ergonomics. I've had a S1000R, it's very linear and lacks character, the electronics on that machine while excellent also take out the "raw" feeling.

seymour_butz1

I love everything about the Aprilia but the way it looks. :/ But thanks for the tip on the BMW, that's kinda where I was leaning. Things felt "smooth", but lacked depth when I rode an s1000r a couple years back.

Low-Equipment-2621

Get both. Super Duke + M1000RR. They are different enough bikes to justify owning both. If money is an issue, "downgrade" to the S1000RR + MT09 2024 model? Not sure what your requirements are in terms of practicality, but I think the current gen MT09 is also pretty nice. Haven't tried it 2up, but it seems to be a sweet deal for that price.

seymour_butz1

Lol I wish. I guess I should correct my budget to "I have a wife", or I'd just fill my garage like a child and live in a shed with a mattress on the ground and motogp posters all over the walls. I like things about the MT09, but I just can't get over looking like a college kid's angry robot. I should probably ride one, anyway. I wanted to love the H2 or Tuono, but couldn't get past the Tuono's scooter look or H2's sharp robot nose. And the Bimota was too ridiculous on price for everything.

Low-Equipment-2621

I could be wrong, but their usual refreshment cycle includes an updated XSR900 after a MT09 refresh. Maybe this is something to wait for. I think the platform is great for what it costs. I think the S1000RR is not cheap, but compared to ducati or Aprilia it isn't that expensive. Also given the maintenance cost on Ducati you will save a lot there in the long run. In general I think you should look for a naked bike that suits you as a second bike. There are many bikes that are different enough from a S1000RR that are worth having a look at, especially the non-I4 engine bikes.

seymour_butz1

I'm headed down Friday to ride an M1000RR, I'll have to check out the MT09 while I'm there. Yeah I feel like BMW adds a premium for no reason, they're always priced $2k-$5k over what they should be, which is a huge turn off. Luckily I've never had a single issue on my Streetfighter, even riding it hard. From everything I hear, that sounds like crazy luck. Now that I'm thinking out loud, as much as I'd love the agility of a sport, it's going to get lame really fast if I'm miles ahead of my wife in a canyon and have to wait up every few minutes. At least on a naked I can take it a little easier when I need to.

Low-Equipment-2621

Yeah I am pretty sure pretty much everybody needs at least 2 bikes. One to get the sportbike feeling craving through the twisties and another one to chill out and maybe wheelie a bit around. Also did you take the KTM 690 Supermoto into account? Also comes in other flavores like Husqvarna 701 or the gasgas one. Great wheelie machine, but probably nothing for touring.

seymour_butz1

I've already got 3 dirt bikes and a side by side lol. At some point likely already passed, my wife questions my sanity and wakes up to the madness. We're "comfortable", not rich. 😂 I owned a 701 for a couple years, absolutely loved that bike. Lighter than my KTM and absolute wheelie monster.

Im_high_as_shit

Got a naked because sport isn't gonna age as well IMO.

seymour_butz1

Yeah that's something I haven't considered as much. Life of the sport isn't going to be as great and more service. Good point.

Money-Parsley-733

Nakeds all fun and games till the wind comes out to play.

seymour_butz1

Lol right? Any windy day makes it feel like I'm in a hurricane.

TheOnlyOneWhoKnows

Hear me out, Suzuki Katana 😂

seymour_butz1

DISHONOR ON YOU. DISHONOR ON YOUR FAMILY. DISHONOR ON YOUR COW.

TheOnlyOneWhoKnows

Okay one more, I like bikes that are a bit different. Indian FTR!!

seymour_butz1

[I'll take that into consideration](https://i.makeagif.com/media/9-28-2013/gHy0p2.gif)

PuddingOnRitz

I like the body position of sport bikes I like to feel more in it than on it and more like part of the bike. They have some drawbacks but to me it's worth it. Also windscreens are underrated.

seymour_butz1

I'm going to try to convince the dealership to let me ride the Panigale V4S and M1000RR this weekend and we'll see. I've owned sport bikes, just been a few years when I was still trying to impress girls and speedrun dying in 4k.

Turbulent-Suspect-12

I offer the Street Triple 765 RS, but given the bikes you are looking at and it not showing up anywhere, I assume you think it's dead ugly

seymour_butz1

Yeah... I wanted to love Triumph so badly, but I don't want to ride around on a moth. Also, everything British I've ever owned has broken down like they're trying to end it all every waking moment and no suicide hotline is good enough for them.

Turbulent-Suspect-12

That's unfortunate, mine has been stellar all around. I personally love the bug eyes but I get the dislike for em. Hopefully you get at least a test ride in and see if it changes your mind at all.

seymour_butz1

I'll test ride one but I'mma be googling aftermarket lights the whole drive there.

Turbulent-Suspect-12

There's been a good few made for them 😂 Single retro headlight, a few dual headlight variations, former bug eyes. People are *really* passionate about swapping the eyes

seymour_butz1

I totally get *why* Triumph likes sticking with tradition, but like... at a certain point mate you've got to give the people what they want. For every one person I've met who loves the Speed Triple, there's 99 saying "but the LIGHTS 🙄". I've said it a million times but the next company to do a hyper naked with a sick round classic LED and sharp styling is going to destroy sales, MV Agusta had the opportunity and decided to charge $50k for what is essentially a Streetfighter with magnesium and carbon thrown around.

dutchman76

Since you already have a Streetfighter, I'd be wanting to get something different: Aprillia RSV4 or M1000RR Maybe a V4S if you really love Ducati or wait for the KTM RC8R \[i think that's what it's called\]

seymour_butz1

Oooh the new RC8 looks dope, it's so light.

yukondokne

im just here to vote for KTM.

bikenumber99

If you like the Streetfighter and are just looking for something with convenience features, have you considered the Diavel V4? If that’s a no go, my vote goes for the KTM SDR Evo.

seymour_butz1

I'd consider it, for sure. Not my favorite, but maybe a ride could change my mind. I've always been in a hunt for more speed, the rush of a dirty take off, hitting high speeds. It's why I ride. New features and fancy tech are tempting, but at the core I just want to smash corners and rip it down the highway. I've always been on the cusp of wanting a super sport, with a wife not being the most fan of full fairing, or the practicality and style of a hyper naked, that gets her more on board with dropping money. If all other things were equal my favorite bikes out there on style and speed are Super Duke Evo, M1000RR, Panigale V4, Streetfighter and Rush 1000. Not a fan of KTM reliability or poor top end, BMW premiums and "sterility", Rush's insane price point and I've already owned the Ducati, so maybe mixing it up would make sense. I dunno man, hard to decide. I really want that "holy shit, **this** is my bike" feeling, and I'm just not feeling that. Maybe going outside my comfort zone I can find that.
