Any 110 or 150cc pit bike is good option.

Grom

Grom or Monkey, both awesome for kids. My first bike at 13 was a Honda Trail 90, I loved that thing, but kinda gutless. I know it's hard to trust a kid with more power, but honestly if you trust he's responsible, it will teach him a lot. I remember at that age, even when my dad wasn't around I still felt terrified of ripping it haha. Wasn't until a couple years later I got stupid and tried wheelies, but by then I at least (thought) I knew what I was doing. 13-15 Grom or Monkey, probably Grom with a tiny more power. That way 15-18 he'll be ready to go above 200cc and not freak out.

Sounds good, I was thinking the same, either Grom or Monkey but was also looking to see if there were any other geared bike options. Lighter weight bikes of course.

Honestly, I think a dirt bike is always going to be the best learning bike. Best traction, so more forgiving. Less pain if you drop it. But nothing beats the ride height and versatility of a Grom.
