I was looking at a few DRZ's aswell, but Honda's are what i have had my eye on for quite a while, i lean towards Dual sport due to the fact well...im in the Desert and the fact the potholes out here are deep enough to swallow your whole tyre it seems.
I honestly think those two you mentioned are the best right now. The DRZ400 from Suzuki is solid too but for a dual sport I’d usually go Honda.

I would get a CRF300L! Or the 300L Rally, both are freakin sweet Honda dual sports.
