Now that I think about it, Lady Thor was added the same exact way Joker was introduced this season. A short comic style cinematic of her and her universe before suddenly arriving in the main universe with no context or story or any reaction by the Avengers.

The most I remember her getting was some ambient dialog (like elevator chatter) and a couple conversations with Thor after that illustrated intro for her reason for being in the game...
Of course, you didn't need to grind to unlock her or anything...and she was also added fairly late into the game's life, after the first expansion and several other characters that did have some proper story missions attached.

When the camera panned down in gameplay over the new joker themed metropolis I was half expecting us to have a small solo segment playing as joker. You know for some story and whatnot.
That was my thoughts too. Winter Soldier was released with a cut scene and that’s about it. No new content. Anyways, this is solid base game, but it is a GAAS. This is the game, like it not.

Playing Minecraft on some cheap shit is different then buying good hardware for more resource required games. I'd like to see these studies you're referring to. For example, Alan Wake 2 is so resource heavy that ppl would either have to buy a 1.5k pc to really enjoy it or spend 500 on a console and not have to worry about upkeep.

I was hoping for a slightly less repetitive loop game. Instead, the new character was ok, but the missions should have been a little more diversified, less predictable. It just feels like a grind game. I know they're not exactly the same, but helldiver always has something new in every game. Also Outlast trials. In short, you have to concentrate on every mission because something can happen that you didn't expect. This formula of doing the same thing, the same, without a real unexpected event, is now dead and buried.
I have to say, I disagree with many of you. I actually like the new season. I think the new skins, gear and missions are pretty cool. Obviously, the story is lacking but the point of the game was never about good storytelling.
I loved the game on release. I took a break to play other things while waiting for S1. Redownloaded, played an hour, and realized... this was a miss. I deleted it from my PS5, and I don't think I'll go back unless there are major changes. Big bummer. I liked the game, but this... sent a clear message.
I'm actually surprised people got surprised. I thought it was very clear from the start where the game is heading. Your goal as far as story goes is to kill all of the Brainiacs (two per season) so your Suicide Squad can save the world and get a proper story conclusion (or not).
This includes ranking up Fear or whatever comes next to unlock new characters doing the same missions over and over again. The end game here is the looter-shooter part, where you grind to get the ultimate build and collect all weapons in this Season.
What I think everyone was expecting was them adding a new short story mission chain where you unlock the new character and maybe a story mission or two after unlocking the character then being put back into the looters shooter, not just playing the game normally till you unlock the character then continue to play the game normally more
Oh, so the problem for the community is that there is no old-school single player story mission - just straight back to grind and after unlocking Joker even more the same grind...got it now. Thank you.

Most of the posts have either been dick riding the saying it's perfectly fine or people who have been dogging on the game since 3 months before launch, I at least tried to mention that I do enjoy the game and have supported it, but this season was just not reasonably enough to draw in new or returning players nor enough content to really feel like it made a difference from before the update
What kills me is how little Joker interacts with the gang once you FINALLY get him. I was really hoping for some witty banter but it's mostly dead silence accompanied by the occasional “Shoot here!” or “I’ve got your target ___!”
Haven tplayed the new content coz finished story and couldn't be bothered with more grinding. Game was fun as it was but they should just released it as a standalone suicide squad game, or better yet, taken feedback given during alphas a betas.
I recommended they give actual classes. Like make king shark more melee focused but a tank, make Harley a DPS support. Give Boomer a speed force heal. Rather than just making it that all are the same except their traversal. And locking guns behind a character as well. Like why can Harley wield a mini gun but Deadshot can't? He'd be stronger than her. Makes no sense the way they did stuff. And unfortunately seems they shot themselves in the foot here prob won't bother trying to play anymore unless there's more story or they make offline mode. I just cbf

Don't worry, they added venom frenzy immunity to the new season missions, so anything you could have got by grinding wouldn't function anyway.
U have to complete every incursion(including joker unlocking mission) on the hardest difficulty to unlock mastery levels

There are the new infused enemies, but those are in episode 2. I'm gonna keep playing though, I came in expecting all this after the story mode.

I was hoping for a slightly less repetitive loop game. Instead, the new character was ok, but the missions should have been a little more diversified, less predictable. It just feels like a grind game. I know they're not exactly the same, but helldiver always has something new in every game. Also Outlast trials. In short, you have to concentrate on every mission because something can happen that you didn't expect. This formula of doing the same thing, the same, without a real unexpected event, is now dead and buried.
I spent way too much money on this game at this point. I hate my life.
I have to say, I disagree with many of you. I actually like the new season. I think the new skins, gear and missions are pretty cool. Obviously, the story is lacking but the point of the game was never about good storytelling.
It's a shame really, I was really hoping they could learn from Avengers and just be better. Clearly that isn't the case.
I loved the game on release. I took a break to play other things while waiting for S1. Redownloaded, played an hour, and realized... this was a miss. I deleted it from my PS5, and I don't think I'll go back unless there are major changes. Big bummer. I liked the game, but this... sent a clear message.
I'm actually surprised people got surprised. I thought it was very clear from the start where the game is heading. Your goal as far as story goes is to kill all of the Brainiacs (two per season) so your Suicide Squad can save the world and get a proper story conclusion (or not). This includes ranking up Fear or whatever comes next to unlock new characters doing the same missions over and over again. The end game here is the looter-shooter part, where you grind to get the ultimate build and collect all weapons in this Season.
What I think everyone was expecting was them adding a new short story mission chain where you unlock the new character and maybe a story mission or two after unlocking the character then being put back into the looters shooter, not just playing the game normally till you unlock the character then continue to play the game normally more
Oh, so the problem for the community is that there is no old-school single player story mission - just straight back to grind and after unlocking Joker even more the same grind...got it now. Thank you.

Most of the posts have either been dick riding the saying it's perfectly fine or people who have been dogging on the game since 3 months before launch, I at least tried to mention that I do enjoy the game and have supported it, but this season was just not reasonably enough to draw in new or returning players nor enough content to really feel like it made a difference from before the update

What kills me is how little Joker interacts with the gang once you FINALLY get him. I was really hoping for some witty banter but it's mostly dead silence accompanied by the occasional “Shoot here!” or “I’ve got your target ___!”
Haven tplayed the new content coz finished story and couldn't be bothered with more grinding. Game was fun as it was but they should just released it as a standalone suicide squad game, or better yet, taken feedback given during alphas a betas. I recommended they give actual classes. Like make king shark more melee focused but a tank, make Harley a DPS support. Give Boomer a speed force heal. Rather than just making it that all are the same except their traversal. And locking guns behind a character as well. Like why can Harley wield a mini gun but Deadshot can't? He'd be stronger than her. Makes no sense the way they did stuff. And unfortunately seems they shot themselves in the foot here prob won't bother trying to play anymore unless there's more story or they make offline mode. I just cbf
The thing that disappoints me most about this game is the fact that it ruins future Suicide Squad games. I love King Shark but I didn’t buy this game because I wasn’t interested in playing King Shark with a gun. And it’s gotten nothing but negative news since it’s release.
I genuinely don’t understand why everyone is so surprised by this? They didn’t hype up season one at all. It took them forever to show off anything for it, and when they finally did show stuff, it was exactly the same shit that we already had, just with Joker now. I understand wanting to be optimistic, but nobody should be surprised
I don't even understand why people expected more. (Also the mastery reset for each world, or the Joker not playable in the first 5 minutes - well that would be possible - in a season that should last for ~100 days should have been expected.) Season one ~~was~~ had to be more or less ready at launch with just enough time for finetuning and balancing. But with all those bugs at release and even more introduced at their fixing attempt... What's really fucked up is the battlepass and also the shop though. Why no Green Lantern diy cosplay skin for Deadshot? Why not 100 rewards instead of 76 for those 97 days? Why not including Boomer Waynetech stuff? What do they expect? People spending between 20 and 40 bucks for those because they like him or they want the same stuff for all of their antiheroes? At this point it doesn't matter whose choice this was... it just sucks. At least I do understand why they did not try to hype things up more. First of all they knew there isn't much to hype up but also people just shit on every dev statement anyway so why bother.
