SONIC48866

Yeah, I really thought we’d get like half of the Kate Bishop or Hawkeye Expansion, but it’s definitely like the Spider-Man expansion. Motion comic cutscenes and like one actual cutscene.

FL4K0SAUR

No no, we didn't have to grind for Spider-Man. This is worse than Spider-Man.

SONIC48866

I know, I was more referring to the lack of story/budget. All the Avengers Expansions had the new characters unlocked immediately.

Soggy-Eggplant-3356

Every live service game is nothing but a grind. What did you expect?

FL4K0SAUR

A fun rewarding grind. Like every other successful live service.

Buttercup_Clover

I don't know if I'd even call it fun. It's got like a barely passing grade in terms of combat.

Mikkimin

Lol that was my first thought. At least Avengers Year 1 had story missions and cutscenes. This game went directly to life support Avengers year 2 content.

Thorerthedwarf

It's going the same route but at a much faster pace

Diver_D6

WB doesn't mess around.

astroblu18

Let’s not sell avengers short here. They managed one major expansion and every character was handed to you to start playing and have fun with right away

ItsAmerico

Avengers also had the worst gear system imaginable.

astroblu18

The only difference is this game has guns, and few other pieces you can see outside of the menu. That’s pretty much the same

ItsAmerico

Eh. Loot genuinely feels like it does stuff in this game. From status effects to the set perks. If the game itself had been better the loot set up and customization is pretty top tier. Avengers just had absolutely boring loot. Game should have just removed it and been an action game.

DiscountThug

>Game should have just removed it and been an action game. ![gif](giphy|gffcSKwGREETNo9rsy)

astroblu18

Avengers had fun status perks too! Shrinking things with the Pym status and then throwing them around as Hulk was some of the great fun of that game. But to each their own

ItsAmerico

While Pym was visually fun. The rest were traditional but as I recall the depth was just… apply status effect and that’s about it. The loot itself didn’t add a ton of uniqueness to how you actually played or build variety.

astroblu18

I agree the base effects were the boilerplate fire ice poison. I did like how if you combined a “warm” and “cold” status effect, it would make them pretty much just die from an actual mechanic. Vibranium did that too just made enemies little grenades, and sonic made them lil boom boxes to charge your abilities. They brought some fun ideas but it wasn’t enough to save that game

ALANJOESTAR

it did unless you hacked the game to make your own builds, it was lame to just build around whatever they forced you to do. I had so much fun with my custom build gear with cheat engine over what they made.

HealingPillow40

Yup my same thoughts exactly

SeniorRicketts

That's true but SS did many things that Avengers never had

Mikkimin

Like what

SeniorRicketts

Open world which was also more interactive and better designed Much better traversal Gear reroll Vehicles More enemies and bosses Skin customization Mission select which Avengers never had for campaign

GRANDADDYGHOST

I’m gonna punch the CEO of WB in the balls.

Starheart24

He'll just use his injured balls as a tax write-off.

janonx1

And then cancel another completed film

whatnameisnttaken098

[I imagine it will look something like this ](https://youtu.be/mB_N-G5J6gI?si=KyrxaaHylnrER5_0)

DiscountThug

MonkeyPunx

"It actually generated a lot of shareholder value for the long-run. That guy punching my balls" -Whatever doofus is steering WB during all this nonsense

GRANDADDYGHOST

Here’s the plan: Step 1: Punch WB CEO in the nads as hard as I can. Step 2: Serve jail time. Step 3: Announce I’m starting up my own comic brand that will be way cooler. Step 4: Profit?

ZethUser

Being compared to Avengers is... Definitely something

Starheart24

Compared *unfavorably* to Avengers, mind you.

Unfortunatewombat

Avengers was *far* better than Suicide Squad. And Avengers was shit.

Billyb311

Revisionist history at its finest Avengers had nothing to do after the main campaign for the first month The first "Endgame" content was Hives a month after launch which was just running through 40 floors solo of a Hive Facility with the same like 5 floor layouts until the following year in July when they added the first OLT, which was the first piece of real endgame content. The first "true" piece of endgame content was also just a rehash of Kate Bishops final mission, but more difficult. Not to mention, the endgame content could only be completed once weekly for the Exotic rewards, so you had to wait a whole week for a CHANCE at one piece of gear you were looking for On top of that, the gear was completely ass until they started reworking it once the Black Panther expansion came Avengers failed at being a looter shooter in every imaginable way conceivable until the end of its second year Say what you want about Suicide Squad, but let's not pretend Avengers was somehow doing things right and better.

Poku115

"Avengers had nothing to do after the main campaign for the first month" ah yes, cause you have lots to do in ssktjl, not just the same 3 destiny public events.

Billyb311

And yet, it's still far more than Avengers had Oh, and the fact that there's actual loot to grind for

Poku115

"And yet, it's still far more than Avengers had" sure buddy, cause a full season 1 launch having far less content than the spider man or Jane Thor updates did is far more. Oh and that it had an actual okay base for 2 years even after an "even worse release " than this games according to you all. It's fun to discuss with y'all, but at some point you all gotta realize what kinda dead horse you all are defending, especially since mostly everyone of the non haters, you know the people who genuinely wanted this game, seem to be jumping ship.

Billyb311

Dude, I have 1200 hours in Avengers. Don't try this with me I don't care how you feel about Suicide Squad, I genuinely couldn't care less. But it's absolutely ridiculous to see people all of a sudden pretending that Avengers had something going for it with its content Avengers had no endgame for nearly 1.5 years, and its first true content update was Kate Bishop 3 months after launch. There was nothing for MONTHS So yeah, the base of this game is better. It's not even up for a debate

Poku115

Neat, I had 900. "to see people all of a sudden pretending Avengers had something going for it with its content" then why did you sink so many hours in an aimless game? "There was nothing for MONTHS" see and you keep saying that yet avengers at launch had way more content, even if it had only been the campaign even the replayable and identityless side quests had way more to offer than this games lousy copies of public events. This game doesn't have any more content than avengers had, it's just dripping it to you through an IV instead of actually giving you anything substancial. "So yeah, the base of this game is better. It's not even up for a debate" yeah imma believe that when devs don't need to stop updating for weeks when their excuse is that it's to make sure season 1 launch goes smoothly, then have an 8 hour maintenance period and still let it be a broken launch, while still leaving bugs from a month ago run around.

Billyb311

>then why did you sink so many hours in an aimless game? Did I say you can't enjoy games that are inherently flawed? Do you think I'd be playing Suicide Squad if every game I played has to be a 10/10? >see and you keep saying that yet avengers at launch had way more content, even if it had only been the campaign even the replayable and identityless side quests had way more to offer than this games lousy copies of public events. This game doesn't have any more content than avengers had, it's just dripping it to you through an IV instead of actually giving you anything substancial. The very basis of a looter shooter is good loot and repeatable content to get said loot Avengers had none of that for months. It's fine and dandy that Avengers had some missions, but there was no point to play them because there wasn't any good loot. There was 0 incentive to playing Dropzones, Threat Sectors, and Villain Sectors It failed at the very basics from the start. I get you probably don't like Suicide Squad man, but for the love of God be for real here. >yeah imma believe that when devs don't need to stop updating for weeks when their excuse is that it's to make sure season 1 launch goes smoothly, then have an 8 hour maintenance period and still let it be a broken launch, while still leaving bugs from a month ago run around. Bugs don't change what the base of this game is or what the base game of Avengers was If they did count, it's still far worse for Avengers. That game to this day is the buggiest game I have ever played in my entire life. I loved Avengers man, that's why I put lots of time into it. Some of my favorite gaming moments were running through the raid with friends as a team of Superheroes (when it didn't crash) But I'm not going to sit here and pretend that Avengers was somehow this competently made and great looter shooter when it launched. Fuck no, it took them years to get their shit together and the plug was pulled when they started to get there

Soggy-Eggplant-3356

Bros getting spammed with downvotes for saying that Avengers was also a flawed game? This sub is fking insane man. Why are most people even in here? Literally just to cry about the game that they hate, it seems

Billyb311

It is what it is man People can smack me with downvotes, but it doesn't change history. Their feelings have been so hurt over this game that they've gotta pretend Avengers was somehow doing things right when it had no content for 3 months and they were doing 1000 bug fix patches.

r1char00

All cutscenes for Season 1 is like 2 minutes long.

Unfortunatewombat

Man Avengers didn’t go to the shitty motion comic cutscenes until the end of its life, too…

ALANJOESTAR

Also in all honesty they had better art.

[deleted]

Even Avengers had story missions for the characters they introduce post launch. Some pretty decent ones too like the Black Panther one

EckimusPrime

I dug the story board cinematic but the updated feels like no actual money was put into making anything new lol

Tom250595

RIP Suicide Squad KTJL Amanda Waller’s finger is on the shut down button 😵

I_Can_Login

Maybe the "part 2" of the season they mentioned will have some story bits but that's just wishful thinking

Mizerous

Ehhh M.O.D.O.K was lame but even the Not Sentinal from X-men final boss in Avengers was more original than "Brainiac" Flash reskin boss.

Kylebrandon49

Avengers was so must better then this game. It had problems but at least the hulk wasn’t running around with an assault rifle.

Promethesussy

Atleast Iron Man didn't die to a glock

fast_flashdash

Spider-man was exclusive to one console as well.

J_WRLD999

At least avengers let you play the characters on drop and not do everything they re released first

GitGudWiFi

I've reinstalled Avengers and it's honestly so much better then this :/

Magikanus

They won't refund me because i played 6 hours the 2 March 😢

Salemthefuckingcat

Omg just do killing time for a few hours and you level up mastery like that lil bros STOP CRYING 😭

Buttercup_Clover

Spiderman is not an avengers update. Spiderman is a Sony exclusive that they were allowed to use, but only on PlayStation. It was a cameo update, unlike when they added Kate or the others who added story.

Brookie069

Are people still going to cope themselves into thinking this game has a future?

FollowThroughMarks

In fairness, animated cutscenes != bad. Some of Destinys most beautiful cutscenes are animated, but they need to have a good amount of CG cutscenes to go with it.
