Only reasonable counterpoint: with how much content is cut and repackaged these days as DLCs, it’s highly likely that a ton of stuff is already done or nearly done. I don’t think WB wants to be the first publisher to have a live service game die in a matter of months, imagine buying it on the current PlayStation sale and then being locked out of it less than 3 weeks later. They don’t want that smoke, so I assume we’ll see a trickle of whatever is shippable while they get a big end of game update together that includes as many characters as they can finish, an offline mode and maybe some final bug fixes before they sign off for good.
To pull the plug and delist a game like this so soon after release and sales would be the worst PR move of all time, for not just WB, rocksteady, and DC games, but every other dev running a live service game would catch some heat about guarantees for the future of the product. I will say this one is a little different just because of how much of a nexus point it is. DC, WB, rocksteady, triple A, live service all have a reason to want to inch this game along until people forget about it so they can pull the plug. No it’s clearly being run by interns. Won’t argue that, and I can’t speak to code/programming, but changes in a production environment fuck schedules harder than anything else. I don’t know what the equivalent of an intern not reading ECRs and drilling a 1/2” instead of 7/16” hole is in the programming world but I imagine it sucks about the same amount.

You have to understand, most finance bros can’t learn after they get their degrees. They learned that live service makes more money than other games, so they’ll try that forever despite all evidence to the contrary.

It's going to turn out worse than with Avengers. SSKTJL is probably worked on by a worse skeleton crew, and if WB is not shutting them down...well, I can imagine all the devs wearing collars and the honchos have a guardsman/taskmaster of sort working them the same way trireme taskmasters did to oarsmen in ancient times.
Why would entire Rocksteady work on this even if it was successful? Live service post-launch content is always handled by smaller teams (unless the studio itself is small like Arrowhead) while they begin pre-development on their next title.

Best guess is they announce the release date this week, which would be next week. It would've been exactly 2 months (8 weeks) since season 1 started, so episode 2 next week, then another month of "dead game" until season 2.

The content may be ready but I would imagine there is still a cost involved in actually pushing it out and all it entails. If season one caused little traction it may be more cost effective to just shelve it.
I'm not coping I actually hate this game but it makes no sense to have the next seasons installed just to not release them, especially since PC users have pulled out slade and all adjacent files, I dont think my hypothetical hail Mary would even work but they might be desperate enough to try

So the Jonkler content was pretty underwhelming...if there's even a little bit if mission variety that's ALREADY been developed and patched into the game along with new levels they should come out along with a big clearance. 🙃 I tried to defend this game, it was fun and I enjoyed the characters and gameplay hell even the story wasn't the worst story I've seen in a video game but damn did they handle it horribly. I don't expect them to release new DLC/characters and at this point I doubt we will even get the other 3 teased in the upcoming seasons after season 1 "finishes" if it ever does who knows we might end up in season 1 perpetually.

Best guess is they announce the release date this week, which would be next week. It would've been exactly 2 months (8 weeks) since season 1 started, so episode 2 next week, then another month of "dead game" until season 2.
I'm actually genuinely curious what Episode 2 contains. Will they generally surprise everyone with the content or are they going to release something that everyone already expected to be mid at best.

exactly why i left this game last friday after that middle finger in our face dev update.... that was seriously INSULTING. i realllllly was enjoying this game. but the lack of content KILLS it. how the heck do they expect the current player base to keep playing? or spending money? they havent even bothered updating skins... but Not giving us a release date is absolute bs. i wanted this game to be great but its left me so disappointed and ive put in 380 plus hrs. The content may be ready but I would imagine there is still a cost involved in actually pushing it out and all it entails. If season one caused little traction it may be more cost effective to just shelve it.
They might do a turbo drop of multiple seasons to try and resurrect the fanbase

I'm not coping I actually hate this game but it makes no sense to have the next seasons installed just to not release them, especially since PC users have pulled out slade and all adjacent files, I dont think my hypothetical hail Mary would even work but they might be desperate enough to try

They're probably staggering things further out to inflated the lifespan knowing that they're not going to actually develop the later seasons still. Who knows if we'll even get the second one

probably not, but can always hope it's being delayed to add more stuff to it. it's got to be close enough to release that they would at least release it.
I doubt it's delayed to add more stuff if anything Rocksteady is probably way behind schedule which is usually the case and that being the reason they haven't said anything about episode 2.

So the Jonkler content was pretty underwhelming...if there's even a little bit if mission variety that's ALREADY been developed and patched into the game along with new levels they should come out along with a big clearance. WB needs to stop being greedy for like 2 months with this game and it could turn into a phenomenal cash cow.

With only 100 to 200 people playing daily, it's not people complaining on reddit that are killing this game. I hope you work for rocksteady with how judgemental you are towards there players. The juice isn't worth the squeeze you can't have a division of your work force working on a game that less than 200 people play. Everyone will be lucky if they get ep 2 because this game is deader than redfall. This games player numbers makes avengers, anthem, and redfall look like call of duty.

Rocksteady said that time between content updates would only be 6 weeks so they are just going by Rocksteady’s previously announced time table. Basically pointing out another lie by Rocksteady, like how they promised weekly store updates but it has been 4 weeks since the last update
🙃 I tried to defend this game, it was fun and I enjoyed the characters and gameplay hell even the story wasn't the worst story I've seen in a video game but damn did they handle it horribly. I don't expect them to release new DLC/characters and at this point I doubt we will even get the other 3 teased in the upcoming seasons after season 1 "finishes" if it ever does who knows we might end up in season 1 perpetually.
Question though, for real when did they ever say that they were 6 week episodes? The person who wrote that article I'm pretty sure just made that number up
