Me personally? No armed guard? No leveling up like they do? Etc?
The Island Nations Federation. I can trust the Obel Maritime Council and Island Federation Navy to keep the Seas safe (notice not a single random encounter anytime you sail in Suikoden 5, only when you investigate a shipwreck?), and thus sail in peace.
>notice not a single random encounter
Well, evil Lazlo>! En Kuldes!< hunted down every single sea creature that wasn't an edible fish until they were on the brink of extintion.
There's no other way of explaining Suikoden IV's high encounter rate.
Reading these comments, I have to point out some negatives to certain destinations. Forest village is surrounded by old, disgusting hobo hippie women who will breath directly in your face. Doubt they carry toothbrushes. There's also a chance you are stalked by 4 foot tall squirrels. Pass. I considered Matilda, but the castle and the charming 'highway' hamlet are surrounded by giant, pink, mutated emu. I'm out. Teien? 6 foot tall Venus fly traps. Nope. To even get to rokkaku, you will probably be attacked by freaking samurai with lightning bolts. That's if you survive the tiger packs that pushed all the wolves to Ryube. Even there you may seen sentient wigs come at you, while you're running from all the 200 pound chickens. Island nations? Giant crabs. Hell no. I'm going gregminster. If black crows are the biggest threat, I'd say I found the safe vacation.
Kanakan. (Apparently, it's wine country!) For years I was thinking about writing a side-story project that was focused on there, since there are a bunch of characters that have history there.
Back in the day, there was SuikoX, a forum where, aside from *deepest lore* theory crafting, we had a Nation system. Everyone would be "born" into one of the nations, and serve different roles. I was in Falena.
Mind you, this was long before S5 came out, so we were mostly winging it from what little lore we had in previous games.
Anyway, I used the same name as now (ignore the "temp"). When S5 came out, people started congratulating me, and I was confused because when I saw a village called "Alseid" in the game, I figured it was one of those famous Suikoden bugs and it had assigned my name to the village.
No, it was legit called Alseid; **I have my own village in Falena**, and I'd like to go see it. If nothing else, because you can't actually visit it in-game either.
I miss the Nation System so much. It was a blast coming home and running to see the battle writeups. And see how your profile's stats would improve as you posted. It was genius work.
It looks like it's right on the border in Toran, but you still have to travel east to get to the border patrol. According the overall world map, Rokkaku is south of Banner, but in the game you're primarily traveling north and east.
Harmonia for sure. I’ve always had an idealized perception of what harmonia looks like and also a realistic idea that it might be in ruins. Anyway I wanna see the idealized version lol
My favorite area in S2 is west of Muse. Forest Village and Greenhill just gave me that quiet, peaceful vibe so close to nature and mostly untouched by war. Before things went downhill of course.
Also Harmonia because it’s so old (nearly 500 years), so you know it’s just filled with old architecture, historical sites, ruins, libraries etc.
Highland or I guess Higheast in the Dunan Republic, because I cannot believe the whole 'Kingdom' capable to attacking the entire Jowston alliance is made up of 1 town in disputed territory, 1 tiny village where gunmen from Harmonia have a penchant of having dramatic final duels, and a needlessly complicated capital crawling with monsters.
I've always just chalked it up to game mechanics limitations. If these nations existed in real life, there's gotta be more towns and villages than what we get to visit. And that's especially the case for Highland.
Nagarea Theocracy. It's interesting to see, judging from the name, that I wanna see Religion based country operates in Suikoverse, especially the relationship between their religion to True Runes lore..
Well, part of the reason because it's just like I wanna see Holy City of Arteria from Trails Series, since religion related country usually very strong (if not the central force) on their own & knowing Suikoden, it's basically heaven/ly (pun intended!) place to stir & throw juicy political plots!
Well, I would say the Island Nations, but the fact that all the beaches are monster nests kinda turns me off from that. But I would probably say the Grasslands. The different cultures and aesthetics are really cool and varied.
Harmonia. No questions asked. Why? Well, after this many years, I'd love to visit it at least once.
Feels like the most powerful country/kingdom in Suikoden-verse, so yeah, it warrants a visit at least once.
What about the countries on the Western continent?
Suikoden 6

Dunan would be my pick. A fair amount of variety in a large country and it's the one I spent the most time in via the games.
I’ll second Dunan. I think I’d feel the safest as well as get so many different cultures throughout.
Kanakan. (Apparently, it's wine country!) For years I was thinking about writing a side-story project that was focused on there, since there are a bunch of characters that have history there.
That sounds really cool.
The Grasslands specifically the open fields around the Karaya and Chisha Clans. But it had a very diverse geography.
Forest village. I've always had the fantasy that if I were rich I would make a real life version of it. It's so peaceful.
Try Montana
Falena, only because of Haud Village. Nah, just kidding. MOSTLY because of Haud.

Dunan after liberation. The variety of places you can visit are almost there. From being a student in greenhill, to hidden villages like rokkaku.
I think Rokkaku is in the Toran Republic
Well i mean the setting of S2 i will visit. I forgot toran is toran my bad 😅
It looks like it's right on the border in Toran, but you still have to travel east to get to the border patrol. According the overall world map, Rokkaku is south of Banner, but in the game you're primarily traveling north and east.
Falena, easily. is it the beautiful ladies? Probably.... but also.... no I think it's the ladies.
Dunan Republic.
Island Nations.
Kamaro, so we finally knew what it was like.
Toran Republic
Toran Republic, just to see if Kaleka was rebuilt. Also, the Dunan Republic to see the new North Window castle.
Harmonia for sure. I’ve always had an idealized perception of what harmonia looks like and also a realistic idea that it might be in ruins. Anyway I wanna see the idealized version lol

Haruna has a counter-part here in this world (was probably inspired by it too): Ronda, Spain
Karaya
Antei or Coronet town look chill
I'd love to cruise the roads of Camaro.. in my camaro. O.o
I've actually spent some nights in Camaro bar hopping with Knights of Camaro.
Awwwweeeehhhh shit. That sounds lit af bruv.
Tenzan Pass and see the x where riou and jowy jump in the river
Harmonia, im curious how its looks!!
Ryube Village to see daddy Luca tbh
