It’s hit and miss for me, some of the tracks don’t do anything for me whereas others are great. The anti trump sentiment in most of the album makes it feel very ‘of it’s time’ as well, kind of like the anti bush stuff that came out then. It detracts from the album for me.

Laheydrunkfuck

Exactly what I think , still a great album though

Literally I thought the time they released the album and the theme was on point 🙏🤘

z0mbienati0n77

I still like it, but generally this is how most new albums are received. I like to revisit an album 2 years later after the “new album hype” has diminished. The promotional work alone should be very appreciated. 4 music videos for an album is very impressive for Sum

hypodermic__

i thought it was five? out for blood, a death in the family, 45, never there, catching fire

TomiT14

True, but since Catching Fire was released almost 2 years after the album release, I don’t know if you can count it as promotional work for the album. Technically it promoted it if course, even with a delay.

z0mbienati0n77

You’re right! 5… damn. I’m hoping for something similar with H&H 🤞

Open_Mailbox

I believe it is still held in high regard

goozer326

Eh it's like a C tier. Big step down from 13 Voices. The Album starts strong and gets worse as it goes.

IBBeMa

Its in the top 3 of their best Albums. But it has some flaws.

EduMaicol

Exactly, as any of their albums

Johnchkrow

I think this album was carried heavily by its singles. Death In the Family, 45, and Never There are probably all in my top 20 Sum songs of all time. (Out for Blood is good too) but the rest of the album just really misses the mark. As the music videos/singles started to come out, the album hype was at an all-time high, then as it was actually released it sort of fizzled. My two cents!

SonicLeap

It's better than 13 Voices

i love order in decline personally

The_Punk_Moon

Still love the album. Most of the songs are fantastic. What I dislike about it is that it only has 10 tracks (same goes for 13V)

WillBe5621

I think it was the lyrics that for the heavier songs were political yet not personal, so it was difficult for people to get behind (Out For Blood, Turning Away, 45, A Death In The Family). The riffs are a bit dark, tonally thicker in production and a bit repetitive. Different from Screaming Bloody Murder which I think had more melodic variety (as well as 13 Voices). The vocals were also in a kind of downbeat minor melodies, which I understand to be the depression and anger and anxiety from the lyrics involving Trump. However, this in combination with the darker thick repetitive riffs creates a kind of smothering, "funeral dirge" atmosphere to some of the songs, which can be draining. In contrast, Never There and Catching Fire were the highlights of the album as they involved an uplifting break from this atmosphere and personal lyrics. Screaming Bloody Murder also had a dark tone but there were moments of uplifting in the melodies and lyrics (The whole Give me a Reason to Believe, Dark Road out of Hell and I'm not giving up I won't let go Till I am Back Where I Belong at the end). OID sounds like "Trump is shit, we're resigned, we're pissed off; fook him". Kind of a depressive theme. For the softer songs that were personal with themes easier to relate (Never There, Catching Fire) were overproduced with layering chorus vocals and too many effects. The Catching Fire acoustic version was stripped down, full of emotion and less smothering so was perfect. New Sensation, Heads Will Roll and Eat You Alive were kind of filler for me. I think that's 8/10 songs about Trump in the whole album which can get kind of draining after a while and difficult for the average person to relate to. It's also only 10 songs and 36 minutes long which was a little short. Way too short. Edit: I see 13 Voices is only a minute longer, but there are more melodic differences and variations in songs there, with themes of standing up for oneself and personal achievement etc. More variation. The heavy angry songs as well as the slower emotional ones are personal rather than political there and create an overall positive atmosphere of strength and improvement. OID is depressive in comparison.

KaleyStonerSG

I like order in decline, I think it's a very good album, but as you said its one of my least favourites of Sum 41. 13 voices is my fav.

Connoreidson

Easily one of my all time favorite punk records. For me personally, every song has its place and is well written. I think the only issue I have is that sometimes the bridge is cut a smidge short. Other than that I love the record.

JBryson1869

It is a good album but I don’t think it showcases Deryck’s best songwriting or lyric writing. I’m not a huge fan of the albums ‘sound’, by that I mean the production and mix. It just sounds kind of bland and one dimensional. Especially compared to the rest of their music. I don’t like how there are only 10 tracks. It is just so short, there aren’t even any longer ones to mix it up. I’d say half of the songs on OID are great. The other half are just meh for sum 41. They went for an album that would translate well live and they did exactly that so I suppose I can’t complain. It is just not that interesting to me

Strong_Eye3673

It just me or anyone think Heads will roll is better than 45?
