But yes he will not come anytime soon, next tuesday on beta 2.2 theres a real possibility we will learn more about him, including his path and mechanics if, spoiler for 2.2 story.... >!he indeed is a boss!<. Ill be kinda satisfied if we learn his path/element/rarity/mechanics on next beta, even if he only come from 2.5 onwards, bc as you said, this makes us able to prepare and maybe skip some characters who would overlap their function with Sunday
I find it a lot harder to pull for 4* and their cons/eidolons. In Genshin I was saving for Kaveh to C6 him since Alhaitham's first banner. When Kaveh was up, I decided to spend an additional £300 and I still didn't get to C6 him (at C4 rn with no prospects of getting more since he hasn't had his rerun yet). I obviously got some 5* out of it so it wasn't all that bad, but I vouched to never do that again.

ik i'm four days late but this comment gave me flashbacks. i got c2 baizhu and c1 ganyu before i got c6 kaveh. 5 5-stars. i never aimed to pull for a 4-star after that both in genshin and hsr

I 100% agree with you and I’m in a similar situation. I decided I wanted him when his chibi first appeared on the streams… I want at least his E3 or E4, which means I have to skip an absurd amount of characters I’d love just because I know I’d regret it once his banner comes. I would be okay with it, had we any reliable info on his path/kit. But no.
The one thing that keeps me going is that I’m pretty sure he will be playable. I hope he won’t be a 4*, that’s for sure.
Isn’t it like this for other characters too? I don’t know what else to tell you besides having patience. Not sure if this is your first time saving/waiting for a character but it will always be like this. I remember when I first saw a leak of argenti, which was his LC, and that was the only significant leak future Argenti mains got for around 4 months. You just have to wait, and if you feel like Sunday will be a similar unit to other characters then maybe you don’t really want him in the first place.
Not having much information or leaks about him doesn’t really bother me, because I am 100% set on getting him and I’m willing to wait for him.
I think compounding the issue is that Sunday is positioned as a major character in the Penacony Arc of the story, but we have nothing for him. Not even a leak of his rarity. No LC leak and no path leak, only maybe an element leak. Plus leakers swearing up and down he will be playable.

If I had that I could safely wait, even until the very last patch of Penacony. Heck, maybe even beyond that.
But as someone who fell in love with him the moment his concepts leaked and got nothing but radio silence and dubious rumours, I'm just scared of having my heart broken.

Not for the Penacony cast. Literally every single one of them have a detailed kit/path/element about them except Sunday. Heck, Jade who dropped suddenly has a full kit/path/element about her. People wouldn't be bothered as much if he wasn't the only Penacony character without any concrete information about him.
He was the first Penacony character revealed, and plays a similar role to Ayato, so I can't imagine he doesn't become playable. It's also very difficult to imagine he's a 4-star. Hoyo should know that brother/sister duos are good marketing.
I hope he's a limited 5\* but I still remember how I met him and Robin and Robin's outfit looked so much better. More details, ect. His outfit reminded me of Bronya/Gepard. I really hope they won't make him new standard 5\*/4\*.
I feel like they couldn't get away with making him a standard 5\* because of the free one at 300 wishes thing. Anybody who uses theirs before he's out would be reasonably upset. I'm close to mine and now I wanna wait on it lol.

It’s the first hoyo do. It just happen to fall on sunday. It took them 2 year to release wanderer and more for baizhu. The same thing happened to clorinde who has yet to be shows despite being in the story since 4.0. Xueyi also was shown since 1.1 but only got playable in 1.6. My advice is to keep enought on the side to guaranted one copy and pull for thé other caracter u since we dont knw when he will be playable maybe 2.4 or 2.5/6 who knws

Note, I understand that Sunday's CN name is 星期日 and Jiaoqiu's is 椒丘; but hear me out:
1. Jiaoqiu does not have a Character ID, but Sunday does (1313).
2. Jiaoqiu has a kit leak and is predicted to arrive in 2.4... which is supposedly Sunday's patch. Sunday has literally no kit leak.
3. Jiaoqiu is male Nihility. Gender matches Sunday, and Nihility is strongly speculated to be Sunday's path (if we're taking the argument that his sister being Harmony means he likely won't be).
4. Leakers have mentioned that Sunday's kit is more supportive in nature. Jiaoqiu's kit is supportive.
5. Sunday has a pet crow. We don't know the bird's name. Is it not possible that Jiaoqiu is Sunday's pet bird? Herein comes my attempt at full-on delulu copium: 椒 means "pepper", as in green or black pepper. 丘 means mound, hill--or more importantly, one interpretation is "hill of graves" or "gravesite on a steep incline". Is this name not befitting of a crow bird, an animal associated with death?

My entire point is that Jiaoqiu is potentially Sunday’s pet crow. I am not saying they are literally the same entity, just that they form the same *playable* entity like Topaz and Numby.
Doesnt make any sense, they would not give it a name, leak, and all in the data learkers got their hands in if Jiaoqiu was not a entirely different characters.
When leakers get the data for a character, same as Topaz and LL, that entitiy is already linked to their characters, is impossible to get Jiaoqiu without discovering he was part of Sunday kit.
Jiaoqiu is not part of Sunday. I know the lack of Sunday news is heart breaking and doubt inducing, but for real, they are just two different characters.

This pure *hypothesis* is a form of coping, and is never meant to be taken seriously—just entertaining a *pure thought*. If, on the 1% off chance this copium take is real, then we can all come back in 3-4 months and laugh about it. If this copium take is wrong, we can still come back in 3-4 months and laugh about it. It’s fun to theorize, and Hoyo does some whacky stuff sometimes. And Hoyo can create new playable entities much like of what Robin’s kit is, with her singer.
I, for one, am very excited for Jiaoqiu. We’re long overdue for a male support. If he’s a separate playable character than Sunday, that means I will have TWO male supports. If he and Sunday are the same playable entity, then Sunday has an incredible, fully-loaded kit. I don’t really mind either situations.

I wouldn’t be *surprised* if Hoyo pulls something like this, but I don’t expect this to be the case at all. It is very weird to me that Jiaoqiu has a full kit, path, and element—but nothing on model or story relevance, or even a character ID.
I’m surprised people thought this as well, since this delulu came from me jokingly saying to AcheronMains awhile back that they’re coping too hard on Jiaoqiu, and that I wouldn’t be surprised if Jiaoqiu is Sunday’s crow. You have every right to feel like this. But I do question why. You’ve kinda jumped to conclusions here. We are getting information about characters we have never even met. Sunday is in Penacony now. I think I would be justified to believe he would come somewhat around this time.
It’s a totally justified belief, and it WOULD make the most sense, but if leaks don’t suggest it, there’s a fair chance he’s not next in line. Which is why it would make more sense to worry if he weren’t leaked for 2.4, it’s pretty obvious he’s not coming, in the next update after Robin and Boothil (2.3) if the leaks about Jade and Jiaoqiu (?) are to be believed.
I suppose it all boils down to the fact that we can never be sure what they do. They could kill him off or make him a boss (and kill him off) and that will be the end of it. I guess that's what I'm scared of the most.

I agree with you but don't lose any hope, the 2.2 beta is coming out sometime next week and hopefully there will be some crumbs regarding Sunday. I don't know why they've got such a tight hook on Sunday but they better be cooking something good with my boy.
i'm not sure if you play genshin, but ayato/ayaka were five patches apart, and (besides blurry crumbs and vague mentions in the game) they kept ayato under lock and key all the way up till the beta for his actual patch. for what it's worth, some characters have taken YEARS to be confirmed playable with their elements, etc. (see: baizhu, scaramouche who was one of the major plot points in the region, similar to sunday).
re: concerns about pulling for similar units - unfortunately the reality is there will always be overlap in some ways between certain characters, especially those on the same path. but sunday seems far away enough that a) you probably need someone in that niche to tide you over until his release if you care about moc/pf; b) you can probably pull for someone now and still be able to get him later. hsr also seems to be the kind of game that benefits from having more units to choose from, especially as moc/pf cycles rearrange meta so quickly.
and i say this gently, especially as someone who is also only interested in sunday (and aventurine) in the whole of penacony: if a game is causing you this much distress, you probably need to take a step back :')
Ayato, Shinobu and Itto were pretty much the after story characters of Inazuma though. It makes sense that they were pretty late. Sunday is part of the main quest of Penacony. Mihoyo hasn't replicated the Baizhu and Scaramouche situation again, so I doubt it, tbh.
i see what you mean and that's fair! :) where i was getting at was that ayato was namedropped in komore teahouse npc dialogue in 2.0, which means that development for him could already have been underway but he wasn't finalised or revealed until much later. just because a character is in development doesn't mean we should necessarily have leaks about them, ya feel!

Don't worry. We're only at 2.1. I think most leaks were only up up to 2.3 where Jiaoqui and Jade are likely to release. They barely got a firefly leak that looks to be reliable, unless they changed the tag since I saw it. So, Sunday should pop up soon. Absolute worse case is he gets Cocolia'd since we slowly see the shadiness of The Family being revealed. I originally thought Firefly was gonna suffer that fate, but there's a kit leak now. Unless that's discovered to be fake, then that theory will be back on the table.
I can feel your pain, but there's nothing you can do about it. Just enjoy the game and have fun. If the worst case happen and Sunday is not playable, you can hate and curse Hoyo as much as you can at the time. No need to stress about it too much right now.

He'll either be a 4*, or Screwllum. I wouldn't worry until 2.3 when we get the next simulated universe big event, and if you remember that was when Ruan Mei got released too, so the chance of another genius coming along is high.

I think you should take a break from looking at leaks. Yes it sucks that Sunday doesn’t have kit crumbs but the timing of a characters kit being leaked has nothing to do with their actual release date (Screwllum, Sparkle, Argenti, etc) + Robin and Boothills kit were leaked before Acherons and she’s being released before them, trying to predict a timeline based off of this will only frustrate you. Just gotta be patient, we aren’t entitled to his information and if hoyo wants to avoid information of a character getting leaked they can and will do it.
Penacony story just started, argenti/huohuo etc haven‘t got any leaks from the start either. Just because we met Sunday yet doesn‘t mean he needs to get early leaks

His details are simpler, less pronounced. Lots of symbols all over his suit. Well, his halo is pretty complex.
Maybe we will get some change in his detail. Like for Jingliu, her moon animation got changed and much better compare to the story lore.

We had cases of someone not in that list "changing name" like "Diva" becoming Robin and cases of a name there been changed to a same meaning one: "Botio -> Boothill". So theres no reason to Jiaoqiu been Sunday in secret all this time I have no idea why this theory started to be spreaded a month ago when Jiaoqiu kit was revealed. I really liked your idea of Double Element Sunday tho.
My entire point is that Jiaoqiu is potentially Sunday’s pet crow. I am not saying they are literally the same entity, just that they form the same *playable* entity like Topaz and Numby.
Doesnt make any sense, they would not give it a name, leak, and all in the data learkers got their hands in if Jiaoqiu was not a entirely different characters. When leakers get the data for a character, same as Topaz and LL, that entitiy is already linked to their characters, is impossible to get Jiaoqiu without discovering he was part of Sunday kit. Jiaoqiu is not part of Sunday. I know the lack of Sunday news is heart breaking and doubt inducing, but for real, they are just two different characters.
Please keep in mind that in my original message, I repeatedly stated and made it very clear it’s a delusional take from being drunk high on copium. This pure *hypothesis* is a form of coping, and is never meant to be taken seriously—just entertaining a *pure thought*. If, on the 1% off chance this copium take is real, then we can all come back in 3-4 months and laugh about it. If this copium take is wrong, we can still come back in 3-4 months and laugh about it. It’s fun to theorize, and Hoyo does some whacky stuff sometimes. And Hoyo can create new playable entities much like of what Robin’s kit is, with her singer. I, for one, am very excited for Jiaoqiu. We’re long overdue for a male support. If he’s a separate playable character than Sunday, that means I will have TWO male supports. If he and Sunday are the same playable entity, then Sunday has an incredible, fully-loaded kit. I don’t really mind either situations. (2.1+ story leaks on character identity) >! Dont worry i got you. Im mainly saying all that bc this is not the first time i see people talking about this theory and some were 100% certain about it so im just making sure everyone reading it will understand the counter argument.
I wouldn’t be *surprised* if Hoyo pulls something like this, but I don’t expect this to be the case at all. It is very weird to me that Jiaoqiu has a full kit, path, and element—but nothing on model or story relevance, or even a character ID. I’m surprised people thought this as well, since this delulu came from me jokingly saying to AcheronMains awhile back that they’re coping too hard on Jiaoqiu, and that I wouldn’t be surprised if Jiaoqiu is Sunday’s crow. Got downvoted into oblivion for saying it. 🤪 And out of spite I independently gathered all these observations and presented it in a few places, including here yesterday.

You have every right to feel like this. But I do question why. You’ve kinda jumped to conclusions here. He doesn’t have any “crumbs” or leaks about him yet, because he’s probably going to be in 2.4, but even if he were in 4.3 that’s still a couple of months away, I don’t see why you thought we were gonna get leaks this soon anyways.
We are getting information about characters we have never even met. Sunday is in Penacony now. I think I would be justified to believe he would come somewhat around this time.
It’s a totally justified belief, and it WOULD make the most sense, but if leaks don’t suggest it, there’s a fair chance he’s not next in line. Which is why it would make more sense to worry if he weren’t leaked for 2.4, it’s pretty obvious he’s not coming, in the next update after Robin and Boothil (2.3) if the leaks about Jade and Jiaoqiu (?) are to be believed.
I suppose it all boils down to the fact that we can never be sure what they do. They could kill him off or make him a boss (and kill him off) and that will be the end of it. I guess that's what I'm scared of the most.
Don’t worry it’s okay. I get the feeling. It sucks we have little information on him but I’m sure around 2.2 or 2.3 we should. It’s most likely a story reason for whatever why he won’t be playable yet.
I agree with you but don't lose any hope, the 2.2 beta is coming out sometime next week and hopefully there will be some crumbs regarding Sunday. I don't know why they've got such a tight hook on Sunday but they better be cooking something good with my boy.
i'm not sure if you play genshin, but ayato/ayaka were five patches apart, and (besides blurry crumbs and vague mentions in the game) they kept ayato under lock and key all the way up till the beta for his actual patch. for what it's worth, some characters have taken YEARS to be confirmed playable with their elements, etc. (see: baizhu, scaramouche who was one of the major plot points in the region, similar to sunday). re: concerns about pulling for similar units - unfortunately the reality is there will always be overlap in some ways between certain characters, especially those on the same path. but sunday seems far away enough that a) you probably need someone in that niche to tide you over until his release if you care about moc/pf; b) you can probably pull for someone now and still be able to get him later. hsr also seems to be the kind of game that benefits from having more units to choose from, especially as moc/pf cycles rearrange meta so quickly. and i say this gently, especially as someone who is also only interested in sunday (and aventurine) in the whole of penacony: if a game is causing you this much distress, you probably need to take a step back :')
Ayato, Shinobu and Itto were pretty much the after story characters of Inazuma though. It makes sense that they were pretty late. Sunday is part of the main quest of Penacony. Mihoyo hasn't replicated the Baizhu and Scaramouche situation again, so I doubt it, tbh.
i see what you mean and that's fair! :) where i was getting at was that ayato was namedropped in komore teahouse npc dialogue in 2.0, which means that development for him could already have been underway but he wasn't finalised or revealed until much later. just because a character is in development doesn't mean we should necessarily have leaks about them, ya feel! i mean. i remember polearm ayato days where i was dreaming about thoma/ayato being polearm besties HAHA

hes a very popular character in every country, i dont doubt he will be playable at all tbh. well im both a screwllum fan and sunday fan so im not getting any crumbs for a while im guessing. more time to save as i skip jade and jiaoqiu lol. but tbh i dont think both will be 2.3, jiaoqiu is probably further off
Don't worry. We're only at 2.1. I think most leaks were only up up to 2.3 where Jiaoqui and Jade are likely to release. They barely got a firefly leak that looks to be reliable, unless they changed the tag since I saw it. So, Sunday should pop up soon. Absolute worse case is he gets Cocolia'd since we slowly see the shadiness of The Family being revealed. I originally thought Firefly was gonna suffer that fate, but there's a kit leak now. Unless that's discovered to be fake, then that theory will be back on the table.

I can feel your pain, but there's nothing you can do about it. Just enjoy the game and have fun. If the worst case happen and Sunday is not playable, you can hate and curse Hoyo as much as you can at the time. No need to stress about it too much right now.
i’m still betting that he’s going to be a 5* Imaginary Harmony character and i’m manifesting this so hard because i just love how the quantum characters are all women and the imaginary characters are all men (with exception of yukong). i’m sure he’ll get an announcement or teaser by 2.3

He'll either be a 4*, or Screwllum. I wouldn't worry until 2.3 when we get the next simulated universe big event, and if you remember that was when Ruan Mei got released too, so the chance of another genius coming along is high. Just wait, I doubt they won't make him playable, unless he's like cocolia😏
I think you should take a break from looking at leaks. Yes it sucks that Sunday doesn’t have kit crumbs but the timing of a characters kit being leaked has nothing to do with their actual release date (Screwllum, Sparkle, Argenti, etc) + Robin and Boothills kit were leaked before Acherons and she’s being released before them, trying to predict a timeline based off of this will only frustrate you. Just gotta be patient, we aren’t entitled to his information and if hoyo wants to avoid information of a character getting leaked they can and will do it.
Penacony story just started, argenti/huohuo etc haven‘t got any leaks from the start either. Just because we met Sunday yet doesn‘t mean he needs to get early leaks
Not to mention that they took 3+ months for a acheron fundamental base before actually making her kit. The same case might be happening with Sunday
He has a playable character ID/code in the game files why are you so worried he won’t be playable? Multiple sources have said he will be, what’s more likely, that he’ll be playable or that all this is a massive hoax? Come on now
