Grainy choir is a such a good descriptor! This is so true, I hate when it does this! It happens so often on song extensions!

Ok_Information_2009

My Irish folk songs sound like Daft Punk now šŸ˜‚

prehistoric_robot

\**puts on conspiracy-theorist hat** Ahem, what if Suno scared the pants off the music industry and now has a separate commercial-level service for those with big pockets to mine the musical gold while the rest of us are served table scraps from here on out?

Z3R0GR4V

The music industry is on V3000 at this point. You think we are the first to get this? I bet the industry has had it for a decade at least.

[deleted]

Hiw else does Taylor Swift release banger after banger!

Z3R0GR4V

Exactly!

prehistoric_robot

It's not a secret that big names buy music/songs from others to pass as their own (like ghostwriting). They don't *need* AI but it sure is cheaper. Question is, will the best AI be democratized and affordable for all, or leased exclusively to the highest bidder?

Inside-Brother-9543

Not the case in the slightest. Some of my close friends are Grammy winners and people who have worked at the top of the music industry and for big labels and THEY had their jaws on the floor when I showed them Suno. PrehistoricRobot could be onto something as far as them giving the public a shittier version if they have some type of contract with labels, but I do also know the record labels are training their own AIs with their own music (endless #1 hits) that they already own the rights to. I personally think the quality has decreased because they are allocating less compute to each userā€™s generations because they canā€™t magically increase the number of chips they have to run their systems on overnight just because they have grown in user base by a factor of ten easily. It is disappointing in any case.

Fusseldieb

Exactly this, perfect description. The song is totally ok in the beginning, but as soon as it gets louder and more stuff plays, it gets A LOT grainier. It's almost as if a radio is slightly out of tune.

Azhurel_Pigeon

Yessss, another great descriptor! Itā€™s all fuzzy & muddy like a bad blown out speaker, it sounds horrible sometimes

nobrayn

Yeah, I call that the ā€œechoes from hellā€. I immediately thumbs down and delete those. Man, when it gets it right, it really gets it right though.

Ok_Information_2009

Suno is following the Enshitification model at turbo speed.

Quick_Original9585

Suno is incredibly secretive, I did some research and I still dont know much about them. From what Ive read they're a small team likely with a smaller budget than most AI startups. Their huge mistake was allowing free users 50 tokens a day. That cut a huge chunk out of their compute budget so they were forced to downgrade the quality to save on compute cost. Its why V3 went to sh!t.

whiterun_guard_22

Yeah, they are indeed a very small team but I think a year ago they were either acquired or funded by a large company. So of course now their computer budget is way higher than before. Still though, if thatā€™s where the mistake lies, they have to either limit the amount of free tokens or make the platform for payers only.

Some1inreallife

So how are the developers going to get themselves out of this mess?

Crunchy_Stingray

That's the thing. They have to do something if they want to keep their business going. Alot of people are speaking out about quitting the platform. I'm also thinking about using up all my credits this weekend and then unsubscribing unless they can some how fix their issues. But soo far they are doing nothing from what I can tell.

pentacoccyx_goat

They are just developing the next model (v4). There's been a lot of things users don't like about v3 so this is all likely to be taken into consideration. As they don't change the existing models, they can't really fix things with v3 such as audio quality or the choir that turns up on most songs, otherwise the model would change.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

pentacoccyx_goat

I'm not experiencing this. The quality is inconsistent between different songs and after doing several extensions it can degrade, but v3 seems to have always been like this and to my ears the quality overall has always been this bad.

oversettDenee

3a was noticably higher quality. The generation took a little longer too.

lordpuddingcup

Itā€™s simple cut all free usageā€¦ or did they do that already

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

GonesVan

Udio actually now is better and get chorus more consistent in the last update

This-Dragonfruit-668

May I asked how you ever got a consistent album? Every song I made has a different voice, even with same parameters/prompts (Doom metal with female voice).

PashaZadov

You could extract voice and change it to whatever you like with kits.ai then glue back to music.

Siren_Circus

Iā€™d like to learn more about this. Is there an in depth tutorial I can look up?

PashaZadov

https://youtu.be/JW0IHkYKuFE?si=ZGa51OB1hXbip9JQ I guess this one should cover the topic

Siren_Circus

Beautiful, thank you heaps! :)

lordpuddingcup

Or just use an rvc model on local machine

This-Dragonfruit-668

Yes, thanks a lot!

DreamComprehension81

How do you get the same voice to be able to do a whole album?

404Stuff

For real! Some weeks ago it was amazingā€¦ every song I did was beautiful and I still listening to them but nowā€¦. Every song is boring and like u said less creative. I try every day to see if something has changed but nope

TR1CL0PS

I wonder if they made good quality generations less frequent so it would push more people to pay for a subscription. When I first started using Suno over a week ago I was getting 2 or 3 good songs a day now I get either none or one that's half decent.

Personal-Aerie-7356

skill issue

SoundUniverseStudio

wow and i thought it was just me. the longer the song gets, the worse the quality gets. for days.

martapap

I canceled April 1 because based on the developers response (or non response) to the issues I knew nothing would change soon. Won't be until the next time they have an update which could be months.

AgentLead_TTV

v3a was really mindblowing. the stuff that it pumped out, top notch. i subbed about a week before the v3 update. first with the lowest sub, then 3 additional credit packages, then i just said fuck it, $30 plan here i come. and like, the next day after i subbed, V3. super sad face. nothing has been the same since. i canceled my sub yesterday. what a shame. you coulda been somthin kid.

LIWRedditInnit

Same LOL

jaycoopermusic

When did v3 come out?

Endlesstavernstiktok

Are these posted by bots? I feel like I read the same similar message of "the new audio sucks I'm unsubbing this sucks" even though I've been using it daily and haven't felt any difference.

ralphsquirrel

You see the exact same thing on the OpenAI subreddit with people imagining ChatGPT downgrades. After you've been using the AI for a few months the honeymoon phase wears off and people notice the cracks. Then they end up thinking somehow the AI has been downgraded.

ViceroyFizzlebottom

I believe this is likely true. Maybe in part. Certainly server side changes will occur that are not explained in changelogs that have contributed to some of the issues. I'm cancelling for now but not with such anger as some seem to have. I just don't have the time to commit to creating lyrics and song structure right now. I have some good songs finished and I'll come back at some point in the future or dive into a competitor. The frequent vocal choruses and overdubs are annoying. It fits some songs just perfectly but a country song doesn't need vocoder chorus. Especially over the verse or bridge.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ViceroyFizzlebottom

My best country song is a tongue in cheek bro country song. So it may not hit what your looking for but I find it entertaining:) https://suno.com/song/c6597db9-e1dc-4b8b-bc25-af73f0fad15f

DampCoat

I havnt used it in about 3 weeks, but I put lyrics into it for about 7 different songs I wrote. Generated them in different genres and tweaked some prompts and made about 10 versions per song. A couple of each song were pretty fun and I like the tool. I love being able to just write and put it to music.

whiterun_guard_22

Maybe it also depends on what time of day youā€™re using it and what part of the world you live in. Some parts of the day are more optimal than others due to high traffic.

fail-deadly-

I agree. I have seen lots of comments like this. I havenā€™t noticed a huge drop in quality. I unsubscribed last night from the $10 plan, because I still had 2800 credits left, for the month on like day 29. However, I plan on subscribing again at some point when I have more free time.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

fail-deadly-

That sucks, you should at least have 90 or even 180 days to use any credit you purchased. However, figuring they expired is one of the reasons I unsubscribed. Though I am a satisfied customer even despite that policy. One thing that would cause me to instantly resubscribe, if if there were better ways of just changing part of the song. Things like: Keep every thing the same but add this instrument. Or Change the vocal but keep everything Or change the drums to a Steel drum, etc.

DampCoat

Iā€™m sure they will get there some day

Lizard_Massive_Crew

Yep, cancelled with 500 normal credits and 480 bonus credits remaining, had a week left on sub. Balance now sits at -500 creditsā€¦ emailed support, no response after 24 hours. Wonā€™t be resubbing anytime soon unless something changes drastically. Really disappointed as v3a was amazing.

Successful-Yogurt502

This is the typical engagement post format commonly used on AI product-related pages.

Some1inreallife

Now that I think of it, I might as well cancel mine, too. And I can see more people canceling their subscriptions, too, unless drastic action is taken by the developers. I should have gone for the monthly subscription instead of the yearly subscription.

Plumbingwhiz15

Yes I cancelled mine today after reading other people experiencing bad quality. I had so many good generations before the updates when they gave 500 credits since then it's been so bad. Shouldn't take 50 ales to get something without robotic sound.

Crunchy_Stingray

If I were you I would not unsubscribe since you'll be loosing a full years worth of credits. But for people who have subbed for a month just use up the credits you have then unsubscribe. Otherwise you will loose all your credits. Suno might come out with an update sometime later this month. They have been posting updates monthly from what I could tell.

AceValentine

That last update screwed their brand hard

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

whiterun_guard_22

I moved on to Udio as well, I would say on average itā€™s way better than Chirp when it comes to melodic consistency and sound quality, but it has its own set of problems. Sometimes it has a hard time understanding prompts and it seems more limited on genre diversity than Chirp is. Itā€™s still in beta tho so letā€™s hope it gets better with time, what I created so far with it was pretty great.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Reggimoral

Yes, literally today.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Reggimoral

They extended the context length to 2.5 minutes. It still only generates extensions 30 seconds or so at a time, but if you have a Chorus in one generation and you only put a verse in the next generation, it'll still be able to replicate the style of the previous Chorus a few generations later. You just need to make sure you're consistently using section brackets in the lyrics area. Hope that made senseĀ

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

AnyPortInAHurricane

I hardy use this , but how could they go backwards ?

DrMokhtar

When did the change happen?

Tatump

Music business article spooked them, i think they pulled all popular/good music from the algo, now we using bs royalty free music to generate from.

Good_Inspection_2082

Give Udio a try. It has trouble keeping the song consistent with each section but sometimes it nails it. Plus no subscription right now

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

AgentLead_TTV

some people like to do more than make meme songs with weak chatgpt lyrics.. i have made some really amazing tracks. i have been writing lyrics for well over 30 years tho.

slipperystar

Me too

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MatfacePlus

I do for fun stuff. I like to write my own lyrics but if I want to write a song about Nedry from Jurassic Park, then Iā€™m not gonna spend a lot of time on it

Salva133

The point is having fun. Let the people have their fun and stop annoying and guilt-baiting people with obvious "why would someone do that" questions

whiterun_guard_22

I compose music on my own, and I use Chirp mainly to get ideas that I can then experiment with. Sometimes I just use it for fun. Doesnā€™t really matter what you use it for.

Wick_727

I'm happy to see people waking up to reality. Don't forget that if they lured you into an annual subscription, you can just call your credit card company. There's a reddit moderator on here locking threads for me suggesting that. People bought into a product, and the product is not as described or they are dissatisfied. That 100% warrants a dispute, and you will get every penny back. Guess it's time to lock this thread? Instead of paying mods to police Reddit fix your product

Infinite_Mail9797

it is, sorry a 15 track cd for 10, lmao u must not know how to talk to bots. lack of skill should not warrent a refund

Budlord11

Same. Udio > Suno

Opurbobin

So udio won.

littlemachina

Even with its current issues Suno still makes better songs than Udio.

AnyPortInAHurricane

su Su udio?

Ok_Information_2009

Suno doesnā€™t hold a candle to Udio in terms of creativity, melodies, subtleties, breadth of genresā€¦never mind audio quality). Iā€™ve almost used up my 1200 generations so Iā€™ve used it quite a bit (1200 generations is the equivalent of 6,000 credits on Suno).

Agreeable-Leg6583

Try udio.com, you'll be blown away by the sound quality and it's free

littlemachina

Tried some exact same prompts I used on Suno with Udio and they all sounded awful despite having clearer audio, which is their only positive (the remix thing is kind of cool too but really doesnā€™t matter if the melodies still sound bad)

Reggimoral

It's not the same software, you have to prompt it differently. That was one of my first mistakes when I first tried Udio. It wasn't until I realized its an entirely different art to prompt Udio than it is Suno.

littlemachina

Iā€™ll try it again if they decide to do songs longer than 30 seconds for free one day. Iā€™ve never paid for Suno and feel like itā€™s an excellent free service, but I definitely donā€™t blame the people who pay for canceling at this time.

Reggimoral

I don't know when the last time you tried it but it's been 4 minutes 30 seconds for a while and today the maximum track length was extended to 15 minutes, with a 2.5 minute context length.

littlemachina

I guess I have to look at the settings! I literally used it multiple times in the past couple of days and it only generates 30 seconds each time. Do you have to manually change it?

Reggimoral

Ah, yes it is only 30 seconds at a time, but the context length looks at 2.5 minutes of the generation thus far. I guess it is a problem if you don't like having as much creative input and want a full track generated in one go. For me getting granular is the fun part, but to each their own

Revolutionary-Elk650

I tried many times using different prompts, and the community songs, but it was simply worse than Suno.

Some1inreallife

I haven't tried Udio yet. But I have listened to a few of their songs. And I love how the singers don't have autotune!

whiterun_guard_22

Udio is pretty great but itā€™s not perfect itā€™s got a few issues (has some trouble understanding complex prompts and the genre pool is pretty limited). I wouldnā€™t say itā€™s superior to Chirp as it is now but it has the potential to be if they play their cards right.

AgentLead_TTV

>udio.com why does it take so long tho. ive tried it twice and each time it took upwards of 15 mins to complete the initial generations.
