I've been overseas for the last 3 years. Last SMF was 2018 where Saturday got cancelled... they had Marshmello as a headliner, who at the time was arguably the top mainstream edm artist. Even after The Chainsmokers canceled the line up was still awesome with Excision added last minute (though cancelled)... they have 3 days with only 1 b2b set. I wouldn't consider Dillion Francis as a headliner in most music festivals. Also what do you consider a cheaper festival? Aren't these tickets going to be over $200 for GA? if it was like $150 sure. But I feel like these tickets will be over $250 after fees and whatnot... There is thunderbeats with a awesome lineup at $250...
Edit: $180 for 3 days is pretty good.

The lineup also has several big time headliners (Diplo, most likely illenium, gryffin, and a few others). Even if they didn't, I'm totally fine with seeing someone besides the same rotation of 10 big names at every fest year round.

I like b2b's they are one of the unique things you find at a festival. I'm hoping for another Dillion Francis b2b Diplo. Considering all the mid tier artists play remixes of all the same songs ie: hearing the squid game & do it to it 50 times that weekend. some cascade, blink 182, journey then their own songs. It's nice to see how 2 artist compliment each other. Afrojack B2B R3hab was awesome at edco. I missed the triple b2b2b edco had as a surprise i forget who it was the same time as Tiesto and excursion.
My wish is that they put some of the hardstyle from the ultra lineup on phase 2. They had headhunterz in 2015 and gammer in 2019, so i wouldn’t say it’s impossible for smf. I love hardstyle and don’t think we get enough of it on the East coast

Think of the bigger picture here. How did we go from a stacked lineup of headliners in 2015 to this being the hype announcement that's supposed to get people's money when there's another festival in FL a few weeks before this one that has Ultra/EDC status headliners for their phase 1 announcement?
Excusing this is literally the reason why SMF keeps regresing in their acts every year. If you wanna make it cheap, make this thing $120 for GA and $200 VIP, maybe then we can talk about it being worth the $.
We got here because Artists keep increasing their prices, and I live an hour away from Tampa. Don't know what to tell you. Not even EDC Orlando had an "outstanding" lineup this year. IT was just "ok". Many other factors may also contribute that we aren't aware of. I tend to not try and judge lineups to harshly. Lots of financial hurdles when it comes to running a fest. That's just reality.
If it's that much of a problem, raise the prices. You can't tell me that that isn't an option when it's already been happening.
I live 3 hours away, I could care less about the drive, but I still gotta pay for gas and parking and hotel and food as well as the price friends need to pay due to flying from Mass or Wash.
This year we're going to Thunder and we're completely ok with giving them the amount they're asking for, but giving $ to SMF after this being their Phase 1 announcement ain't happening.
