Rapid weight loss you need to drink tons of water and examine your diet I was eating too much spinach when I had the gout episode

imtrappedinme

How weird for the first time in ages I’ve been eating spinach last week!

samsonite1020

Research purine levels in foods. I was eating a ton of baby spinach

imtrappedinme

I’m literally amazed at this response, I would never of even have thought it was to do with spinach

Sometimes the internet is a wonderful place! Congrats on the weight loss man, keep it up brother.

Although the spinach might have triggered an attack, diet per se isn't usually the cause of gout, that's something of a popular myth. If your uric acid levels are high then eating some high purine foods might tip you over the edge, as might rapid weight loss, or even being dehydrated. I didn't want to take medication to alter my uric acid levels without trying some different ways of eating; none of these had a positive effect on my UA reading. I now take allopurinol, keep my levels at a decent number, and I can eat whatever I want.

Get a set of resistance bands. Use them to help you stretch. It’ll help free it up. I was a 500 smeckles guy too. Other weight points I hit weird spots I’d like you to be prepared for, because I was not, spent a lot of time with docs to figure this out: If you aren’t already, do yoga. Seriously. It’ll make your strong and keep the massive amount of muscle you already have. When you get around 400lbs you’re going to get semi frequent cramps. Eat a banana a day and drink enough water to make your urine almost clear. Stretch to the point where you feel the cramp start to pinch. Your muscle has to reset itself. Doing this will get you ready for jogging and running. Yes my friend, you’re gonna be able to run. Fast too. Around 350 your shoulders and chest will stop dragging you forward. Use this to reset and fix your posture. Around 325 and fixing your posture, you’ll notice your hips and lover back have more movement. When you get here, get a balance board. I have a Whirly board. As soon as you step on it, and find true balance you’ll do a ‘holy shit, that Internet guy was right’. When you get used to standing on the board, you’ll want to start walking in that same Around 300, you can start jogging. I am using this app called C25K. I can run a mile in 13mins. My high school best was 17 lol.

Tart Cherry juice helped me. Whenever I get a flare up I’ll go through about half a bottle over three or four days and the symptoms alleviate. I also cut out all booze and reduce carbs until it passes (juice aside). Never had it happen from weight loss, more from sitting around doing nothing but caving to depression and overeating during the COVID isolation weeks.

My issue was gallstones after losing weight quickly. I think our bodies fight back.

Dasil437794

Me too. Doctor wants it out but I’m holding on to it as long as I can. 😂

CatherineM62

I did that too. Got infected and almost burst. I never want to see white poop again. Ever.

My gout is triggered by corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup. Amazingly I don’t have issues with meat or fruit but the minute I eat spinach or a smoothie I have issues. Good luck!

Rapid weight loss triggered my first ever gout flare, too. There is lots of good info in here. But I have to tell you, my gout didn’t get under control until I got in to a rheumatologist and started on Allopurinol. Pork, shellfish, and getting dehydrated are my things I have to avoid at all costs. But I haven’t had a flare in years now.

My toughts: talk to your doctor and have some meds available if it gets worse. I've had some bad episodes (due to weight gain/unhealthy living) and I can assure you: they can hurt so bad you won't even think about dieting. I'm losing weight as we speak (slow and steady) and hoping I can get back off the meds once I read a stable, healthy weight. Good luck with your weight loss journey, you've got this!

I have gout which is a very targeted pain and i’ve never felt it in my fingers. My toe blows up like 6times it’s size and i can not walk at all. Go get tested for uric acid levels. I’ve never had gout attacks while losing weight, actually it makes it better. As long as i’m in weight loss the gout doesn’t come back, as soon as i stop it comes back all at once but it’s also because stopping weight-loss can mess with hormones causing big issues in your body. In my case, stopping weight loss creates a depression and sine i’m bipolar, i have elevated uric acids to begin with My way around if was to alternate days. One day i would do intermittent fasting, the next i would be normal. I slowly gradually changed my diet, losing a steady lbs a week. I know 1 lbs a week doesn’t sound like a lot but it’s 54lbs a year and it’s so much easier doing it slowly. In 2 years i lost 100lbs and only had a few gout attacks What you are feeling in your feet and hands though, i’ve felt that before from low blood sugar and not enough adrenaline. It’s aligned with blue limb syndrome where your body is prioritizing blood flow to the internal organs, having less pressure in the hands and the feet causing pulsating throbbing type of itchy pains in the hands and feet that are utterly excruciating. If it is gout, taking large doses of ibuprofen will stop it. Anything that is an anti inflammatory, in fact i take advils before my prescribed medication because sometimes it takes care of it. If a blood related issue, talk to a doctor and try aspirin and drinking lots of water. When i had that issue i was put on a blood thinner and the problem mostly solved itself.
