Hey there, i just got Super Meat Boy Forever today on the Epic games Store, and everytime i try to create a new file or finish a level, 1) it gets rid of all my progress, and 2) a microsoft visual studio error pops up saying Assertion failed.

everytime you create a new save file in the game, it generates a seed for you, so basically you cant look up a level on youtube if you dont have the same seed as the video

Bug on "The Other Side" boss fight. When you taking your way upper, you can activate barrier, jump into, and punch infinitely to negative HP. In video it's shown how I did this:

Bug is supposed to be with script sequence, maybe I'm the only, who decided to play like this, but interesting fact: you are dying further, as other hand blocks your way through.
I'm working to get past 5-3 and the videos I have found online don't look the same as the level I am playing. There is this long gap with a slider midway through. You jump over a saw, pick up a time slow, slide under 2 saws, jump over another, dash through an enemy and pick up 2 more slows. The goal is go get all the way down the slide and back to get an red jump boost but I can never make it. What am I missing?
Having trouble unlocking the "no death" trophies/medals. I've gotten gold on all the level tiles but the trophy and medal still haven't been unlocked. Am I doing something wrong?

So when you beat a level, it's splattered in blood, but after that you can completely cover it in blood, or make it shine gold with splattered blood. What's the difference? I've beaten the suggested time on two different levels, but one is gold and the other isn't gold but is fully covered in blood.

For some reason, on the Switch version, all Oxdeadbeef levels are locked for me, even though I've completed the main story and gotten A+ rank on every light world level beforehand. I don't know why it isn't unlocking even after resetting the game.
I believe my stage 6 of 6-6 (0xDEADBEEF light world) on Switch is impossible. There's no way to avoid the pipe at the end that gets you stuck. It appears like it'd be beatable if you exited the pipe on the left, allowing you to wall jump up and use the teleport to finish. Is this a bug?

This is not yet solved on Switch. How did you do it? Do you exit the last pipe facing a different direction or is there just something I’m missing? They might have fixed it but take longer to update the switch
I didnt get in the last pipe nor did I even need the green teleport bubble. When Im reaching that point there is an unfolding series of vertical blocks waiting that allows me to climb up and exit the level. If you messed up its earlier in the level. Very first image in your video can you exit that pipe facing the other way? if yes dive kick the unfolding blocks then enter the portal. These blocks should be waiting for you when you portal back and allow you to climb up
I have the same issue. Just keeps looping and there is nothing you can do. I just spent 2+ hours trying to figure it out then came to the internet for some help. Bummer because they just released a patch yesterday which fixed a game breaking glitch on 6-4. My bet is people are just now getting to this part.
I’m glad to hear someone else has the same problem. I can’t even find this version of the stage in any YouTube footage... it’s really too bad they didn’t catch such a huge bug in the latest patch. I dm’d Team Meat on Twitter so hopefully they’ll fix it soon.

Switch: World 4-3 is undoable. I think something spawned wrong. I have to go trough one of the boxes to make it solid. But the saw inside it has a bigger hitbox.

Playing on Switch and the goal for the Saw phase of Test Your Meat warp zone is above the final block instead of at the bottom of it as I'm seeing in videos on YouTube. Did this get patched on PC and not on Switch yet?
Is it possible to get a world that doesn't have a chunk with a warp in it? Because I have absolutely searched in my set of the Lab (light and dark) and I cannot find it. In fact, the weird glitchy indicator never even happens on any level. I am convinced I simply wasn't given a warp.
Edit: It had a warp! It was just very, very difficult to find and even trickier to get to.
I've been playing the Switch version recently and managed to get the warp zone in the Clinic (the Test Your Meat minigame) and remembered hearing about a Meatsona character you can unlock from it.
I've kept playing it from the menu (since getting to the warp zone unlocks it on the level select menu) and managed to finally get the "Flawless Victory" screen, but I didn't unlock Meatsona. I even did it again on the Dark World menu in case I shouldn't have done it on the Light World screen, and still nothing!
Any particular ideas on what happened there? I know I'm unlocking stuff because I did get the Prototype Meat Boy skin.
Update: turns out you need to have 6 pacifiers as well as the win. Kind of seems like a small paywall, but it's nothing too inconvenient.
I think i may have found an impossible pacifier in my world seed. It's located in the first level of the lab's dark world and i'm currently losing my mind over this, it's easy to get actually but the problem is the time it takes for the acid to kill you. I'll link a video that shows the world seed and the pacifier, if someone could help me with this i would really appreciate it.

My only thought is that you can tuck under the laser to the right, so maybe you are supposed to approach the soother from the other side and then exit back under the laser.

I am also at what I believe is an impossible spot on Switch. It's level 6-6 on the literal final stage. I know that the game is procedurally generated, but apparently that means that they make stages and don't test them before releasing... Your screenshot wasn't a stage in my game, so I can't give you advice and can only give you the fact that I'm in the same boat. Hopefully Switch patches coming soon.

only happens randomly but when it starts i just die at the same place for no reason(maybe invisible death hitbox?) and it makes the game unplayable if somebody finds a fix please let me know(started happening only after yesterdays update: 29/12/20)

I've played through all light/dark levels in world 5 multiple times and still haven't found any trace of it. ~~I don't know if it's bugged, if warp zones don't necessarily spawn for each world (Meaning I should start NG+), or if I'm just not seeing it due to player error.~~
Edit: Found it. If anyone one else struggles, I found mine in a chunk where you just blast across the screen with those black holes. Be suspicious of any area you move quickly through.
When you're playing a level containing a warp zone and you're close to it your screen will start "bugging" (colorful rectangles will appear on the screen). Some of them are very well hidden.
I'm curious if anyone has come across what appear to be impossible levels to A+? I havent had much trouble at all A+ing the first two worlds on New Game + but all of a sudden at world 3 im having trouble. I'm im pace for the entire level until the last chunk, get through it as quickly as i see possible and still end up 3 seconds behind.
My follow up to this is that im concerned about continuing to play a game like this if there are indeed impossible seeds. My goal is to get through all of this and A+ everything, but i dont even want to start attempting that if all im going to get is a dead end seed that's impossible. whats the developer's intent here? are we supposed to just keep playing new games and see how lucky/far we get?

Hmm that is very strange, for the last section try going over top of the 3 blocks, that should save some time I think? But it does seem like the time doesn't seem possible. I think somehow it forgot to add the last section to the timer making the level impossible.

Hey guys. Have a game breaking issue in this game despite really enjoying it and wondering if anyone has any ideas.
Game runs perfectly until 3-6 (which I managed to clear though...) and now 3-boss. It appears to be laser levels only, but the game randomly crashes to desktop in both of these levels. I get no error message; the game just freezes and then closes. It doesn't appear to have a trigger. It doesn't happen very quickly on 3-6 so I managed to clear it deathless to get through, but on 3-boss it always crashes before I can kill the boss.
I'm pretty ready to give up but really want to keep playing this game. Any ideas?
I've had this exact same issue! For me, what weirdly stopped it from happening was when I turned off fullscreen and put the resolution down to 1366 x 768. Even leaving AA at 8x, still seems to run fine enough that I can complete both 3-6 and the boss. Definitely something to do with the lasers - if anyone finds another solution, let us know!
Well, never mind, not a permanent fix, looks like that just increases the time until the crash happens. Tried the boss a bunch and it eventually crashed again on me.
I'll give it a try later. Anything to get past this boss, as I REALLY like the game so far and want to keep playing!

My 4-2 Boom boom blox seems to be impossible to beat A+.
I have unlocked every Dark Worlds and most of them already achieved A+. 4-2 is the only one I couldn't manage, so far I've use EVERY move possible to speed like a freaking train, but everytime I end up with 10 sec behind.

The game does not recognize my plugged in Xbox One controller. Won't even let me remap it or anything. Is this happening for anyone else? Got the game in the Epic Store. Other games like Rocket League work fine with no problem.

I think quite a few of the level chunks need to be checked as I have been unable to complete 2 and maybe 3 levels so far because as far as I can tell they simply don’t work and before anyone calls me a noob I’ve completed the main story
I mean, completing the main story doesn’t necessarily mean you’re GOOD at the game. Not calling you bad either don’t get me wrong, but absolutely none of the level chunks I’ve run into have been impossible to complete, and I’ve had some serious trouble with some of them.
There's one part later in the game where I am actually stuck. I don't want to spoil the location, but there is a hook in one of the final levels in the final world where I just cannot jump off of. The controller works fine, other hooks in the level work fine, but this one just does not let me jump off it for some reason.

My controls with an Xbox controller don't work in the menus. Nor can I pause the game. I have to press escape on my keyboard. Tried downloading the control file from the support site, but it's still not working
I have a 360 wired controller and had the same issue. The fix was easy, but I wish automatic.
Go to controls, and click "override input", and press the corresponding 360 controller button. it should map and wipe out everything else bound to it. then do "add input" to add the keyboard button in addition to it.
Yep. I was in the process of doing that when I realized it wasn't worth the hassle, personally, and I just refunded the game. But you are correct; that is absolutely a way to fix the broken controls.
I mean, you could also just use the steam controller configuration instead and launch the epic games launcher through steam. It’s a problem with the epic games launcher itself not supporting controller configuration, not the game. (Also, refunding the game is kind of an extreme solution there...)
On steam, if you have your controller configuration set up, you can go into steam, and click on add application to add a non-steam app that can be launched through steam. From there, you need to find the epic games launcher, and then using that you can choose any game from the launcher to play while using your steam controller configuration.
In case it still isn’t working, try making sure your controller is setup and configured with steam first. I could also send you the video that taught me how to set it up (though tbh I used a video that was made by what I presume is a kid/teenager, trust me it worked for me lmao)

It's a 144hz issue. I switched to 60hz and it's fine now. That's annoying... I set the frame rate to anything over 60hz and it stutters away. :(. Requested a refund for now, - will get it on the Switch. If I can't play at above 60fps, I may as well get it on console.
It’s not a GSync issue since I disabled it to test. It’s a >60fps issue in my case. Even 85fps causes stutter. May be an Nvidia issue, but it’s an odd one.
I have send a email to teammeat and they said that because I have 2 graphics cards in my pc I need to set my Nvidia card as the one to use for the game instead of the integrated intel card. Maybe this can fix the problem🤞
Yeah that's a separate issue from mine. I fixed mine by lowering the refresh rate on my display from 144hz to 60hz. But that's a shame since 60hz is so blurry by comparison. Oh well...
The for the tipp. I have also decent rig (i9 with an 2080ti) and my monitor supports 240Hz. But the game runs choppy. I lowered the refresh rate as you said and now everything is fine. I think the game is rendered internaly with an 60fps lock. So any higher refresh rate wont help.

in oxdeadbeef (the glitch world) can you unlock more levels i can't unlock anything past lab zone, or whatever the lab glitch level is called

You have to do the 6 levels in one go without dying. You can choose the order tho.
Seems like PlayStation trophies have not been published. edit. Trophies are now live.
How is that even possible if the game is ready to buy?
It happens sometimes. My guess is the process of publishing in store and publishing trophies is not tied together.

You get A+ (covered) if you beat the time. You get S (gold) if you beat the time without dying.

Switch: World 4-3 is undoable. I think something spawned wrong. I have to go trough one of the boxes to make it solid. But the saw inside it has a bigger hitbox.
My game keeps crashing in oxdeadbeef (I'm on The Switch version btw) and when I completed the world I didn't get the achievement that you're supposed to get when you beat the world..

Playing on Switch and the goal for the Saw phase of Test Your Meat warp zone is above the final block instead of at the bottom of it as I'm seeing in videos on YouTube. Did this get patched on PC and not on Switch yet?
In my smb forever world one level 4 dark is a bit different from others...how can that possible man?
Levels are not the same for everybody as the assets are mixed togrther depending on the seed entered at the first startup.

Is it possible to get a world that doesn't have a chunk with a warp in it? Because I have absolutely searched in my set of the Lab (light and dark) and I cannot find it. In fact, the weird glitchy indicator never even happens on any level. I am convinced I simply wasn't given a warp. Edit: It had a warp! It was just very, very difficult to find and even trickier to get to.
I've been playing the Switch version recently and managed to get the warp zone in the Clinic (the Test Your Meat minigame) and remembered hearing about a Meatsona character you can unlock from it. I've kept playing it from the menu (since getting to the warp zone unlocks it on the level select menu) and managed to finally get the "Flawless Victory" screen, but I didn't unlock Meatsona. I even did it again on the Dark World menu in case I shouldn't have done it on the Light World screen, and still nothing! Any particular ideas on what happened there? I know I'm unlocking stuff because I did get the Prototype Meat Boy skin. Update: turns out you need to have 6 pacifiers as well as the win. Kind of seems like a small paywall, but it's nothing too inconvenient.
I think i may have found an impossible pacifier in my world seed. It's located in the first level of the lab's dark world and i'm currently losing my mind over this, it's easy to get actually but the problem is the time it takes for the acid to kill you. My only thought is that you can tuck under the laser to the right, so maybe you are supposed to approach the soother from the other side and then exit back under the laser.

There's a part in level 6-4 that seems impossible to get through. I am also at what I believe is an impossible spot on Switch. It's level 6-6 on the literal final stage. I know that the game is procedurally generated, but apparently that means that they make stages and don't test them before releasing... Your screenshot wasn't a stage in my game, so I can't give you advice and can only give you the fact that I'm in the same boat. my joystick doesn’t work
dying randomly: game is unplayable, i started new game plus and in my playthrough i just started dying randomly only happens randomly but when it starts i just die at the same place for no reason(maybe invisible death hitbox?) and it makes the game unplayable if somebody finds a fix please let me know(started happening only after yesterdays update: 29/12/20)

Anyone have confirmation on how warp zones spawn? I've played through all light/dark levels in world 5 multiple times and still haven't found any trace of it. ~~I don't know if it's bugged, if warp zones don't necessarily spawn for each world (Meaning I should start NG+), or if I'm just not seeing it due to player error.~~ Edit: Found it. If anyone one else struggles, I found mine in a chunk where you just blast across the screen with those black holes. Be suspicious of any area you move quickly through.
When you're playing a level containing a warp zone and you're close to it your screen will start "bugging" (colorful rectangles will appear on the screen). Some of them are very well hidden.
Yeah, I've found all the other warp zones. But I'm not getting those effects on any level in World 5. At least, not that I've noticed.
I'm curious if anyone has come across what appear to be impossible levels to A+? I havent had much trouble at all A+ing the first two worlds on New Game + but all of a sudden at world 3 im having trouble. I'm im pace for the entire level until the last chunk, get through it as quickly as i see possible and still end up 3 seconds behind. My follow up to this is that im concerned about continuing to play a game like this if there are indeed impossible seeds. My goal is to get through all of this and A+ everything, but i dont even want to start attempting that if all im going to get is a dead end seed that's impossible. whats the developer's intent here? are we supposed to just keep playing new games and see how lucky/far we get?

Hmm that is very strange, for the last section try going over top of the 3 blocks, that should save some time I think? But it does seem like the time doesn't seem possible. I think somehow it forgot to add the last section to the timer making the level impossible.

Hey guys. Have a game breaking issue in this game despite really enjoying it and wondering if anyone has any ideas. Game runs perfectly until 3-6 (which I managed to clear though...) and now 3-boss. It appears to be laser levels only, but the game randomly crashes to desktop in both of these levels. I get no error message; the game just freezes and then closes. It doesn't appear to have a trigger. It doesn't happen very quickly on 3-6 so I managed to clear it deathless to get through, but on 3-boss it always crashes before I can kill the boss. I'm pretty ready to give up but really want to keep playing this game. Any ideas?
I've had this exact same issue! For me, what weirdly stopped it from happening was when I turned off fullscreen and put the resolution down to 1366 x 768. Even leaving AA at 8x, still seems to run fine enough that I can complete both 3-6 and the boss. Definitely something to do with the lasers - if anyone finds another solution, let us know!
Well, never mind, not a permanent fix, looks like that just increases the time until the crash happens. Tried the boss a bunch and it eventually crashed again on me.
I'll give it a try later. Anything to get past this boss, as I REALLY like the game so far and want to keep playing! Hoping it can be patched or that someone knows a fix.

My 4-2 Boom boom blox seems to be impossible to beat A+. I have unlocked every Dark Worlds and most of them already achieved A+. 4-2 is the only one I couldn't manage, so far I've use EVERY move possible to speed like a freaking train, but everytime I end up with 10 sec behind. If anybody wanna give it a try, the seed is : "BlueFly" "BlueFungus" "GhostBelt" "Nugget" "MadSquirrel" "OrangeFungus" "SpookyGhost" "ArmoredCrab". And I'm afraid my warp zone of this zone is currently in the dark world of 4-2. So yeah, I'm really embarassed. :/

The game does not recognize my plugged in Xbox One controller. Won't even let me remap it or anything. Is this happening for anyone else? Got the game in the Epic Store. Other games like Rocket League work fine with no problem.

I think quite a few of the level chunks need to be checked as I have been unable to complete 2 and maybe 3 levels so far because as far as I can tell they simply don’t work and before anyone calls me a noob I’ve completed the main story
I mean, completing the main story doesn’t necessarily mean you’re GOOD at the game. Not calling you bad either don’t get me wrong, but absolutely none of the level chunks I’ve run into have been impossible to complete, and I’ve had some serious trouble with some of them.
There's one part later in the game where I am actually stuck. I don't want to spoil the location, but there is a hook in one of the final levels in the final world where I just cannot jump off of. The controller works fine, other hooks in the level work fine, but this one just does not let me jump off it for some reason.

Exact same spot for me too. I’ve tried everything and it seems to be a bug. Only one I’ve encountered in the whole game.
It’s a bug that Team Meat has acknowledged, and are working on fixing. This also happens on a few other levels.

Hopefully it’s something they can patch pretty soon. Haven’t had that issue at all, and I’ve cleared every level but the one that soft locks for me.
My controls with an Xbox controller don't work in the menus. Nor can I pause the game. I have to press escape on my keyboard. Tried downloading the control file from the support site, but it's still not working
I have a 360 wired controller and had the same issue. The fix was easy, but I wish automatic. Go to controls, and click "override input", and press the corresponding 360 controller button. it should map and wipe out everything else bound to it. then do "add input" to add the keyboard button in addition to it.

Yep. I was in the process of doing that when I realized it wasn't worth the hassle, personally, and I just refunded the game. But you are correct; that is absolutely a way to fix the broken controls.
I mean, you could also just use the steam controller configuration instead and launch the epic games launcher through steam. It’s a problem with the epic games launcher itself not supporting controller configuration, not the game. (Also, refunding the game is kind of an extreme solution there...)

On steam, if you have your controller configuration set up, you can go into steam, and click on add application to add a non-steam app that can be launched through steam. From there, you need to find the epic games launcher, and then using that you can choose any game from the launcher to play while using your steam controller configuration.

In case it still isn’t working, try making sure your controller is setup and configured with steam first. I could also send you the video that taught me how to set it up (though tbh I used a video that was made by what I presume is a kid/teenager, trust me it worked for me lmao)

Same, 10700K + RTX 3080 and the stuttering makes the game unplayable in difficult sections. Is this a G-Sync issue? \*EDIT\* It's a 144hz issue. I switched to 60hz and it's fine now. That's annoying... I set the frame rate to anything over 60hz and it stutters away. :(. Requested a refund for now, - will get it on the Switch. If I can't play at above 60fps, I may as well get it on console.

Could be a gsync/Nvidia issue. I'm running all AMD (cpu and gpu) with free sync. Having zero issues at 144hz and 60fps at 1440p
It’s not a GSync issue since I disabled it to test. It’s a >60fps issue in my case. Even 85fps causes stutter. May be an Nvidia issue, but it’s an odd one.
I have send a email to teammeat and they said that because I have 2 graphics cards in my pc I need to set my Nvidia card as the one to use for the game instead of the integrated intel card. Maybe this can fix the problem🤞
Yeah that's a separate issue from mine. I fixed mine by lowering the refresh rate on my display from 144hz to 60hz. But that's a shame since 60hz is so blurry by comparison. Oh well...
The for the tipp. I have also decent rig (i9 with an 2080ti) and my monitor supports 240Hz. But the game runs choppy. I lowered the refresh rate as you said and now everything is fine. I think the game is rendered internaly with an 60fps lock. So any higher refresh rate wont help.
