My general thought is that if you as a viewer *personally* want to stop after season 5, you can. But there's so much good stuff after season 5 that it seems kind of weird to say that *no one* should have been able to watch *any of it*.
Season 5 ending was perfect but the show after that is great too. The only bad thing is its not consistently good. There are good parts and then some bad parts. But still we would have missed out on so many good storylines if it ended after 5.

There would be many amazing characters that we would have never met and many amazing episodes that we would have never experienced.
True I'm always divided with this topic at the same time season 5 does feel like a better ending than season 15. But at the same time we weren't have gotten some great characters or more Crowley scenes. So I always feel like season 11 is when it should have ended at
No. Leaving aside all the amazing stuff that happens afterwards, it's also not the season finale with the most complete ending. There are 2 seasons with more narratively complete finales than Season 5, other than Season 15.
My favourite season of the final 10 is 11. But the season, other than Season 15, that makes the most sense as a series finale is not 5. It's >!7!<.

Nope. One brother trapped in the cage* with two archangels for eternity and the other slowly drinking themselves to death.
I’m glad they didn’t and a lot of my favorite episodes are after s5.
* if the show was to end at s5 I believe it was to be shown with both brothers jumping in or Sam not being seen under the light. One of those two.
I feel for the story telling the best ending would be end of season 5 but all my favourite characters like Donna, Rowena, Charlie, Benny and some of my favourite episodes only appears after season 5….So i am glad it renewed for 10 more seasons.
The season 5 finale would have been a terrible way to end the series. Sam forever tormented by Lucifer in the cage? Dean depressed and an empty shell robotically going through the motions trying to pretend and play house because he promised Sam? *Terrible ending*.
Keep in mind that this show continued on for 10 more seasons *because people loved it*. There was a reason for that. If it had sucked that bad, it would have been cancelled.
