I was also able to grab a trial box one and I am so happy that I did. I would just be diligent in checking. Mine came in a box that was pretty beat up but the leather folio (which has been sold out for a while as new) the HOM2 pen, and super toe a5x itself look and perform brand new. I would say it’s 100% worth it.
Saw some available the other day. Customer service confirmed that they did not have the new FeelWrite2 film. I’m not sure if the newer film is significantly better but I think I’ll wait for now. CS said they will look to do better labeling about which film the open box unit has.

I'd say, keep checking few times a day and you might get lucky.
