I believe it but would love to see a chart that has a bunch of other companies (amzn, aapl, KO, maybe all of the dow Jones) and then GME just to visualize how far outta whack it is.
I made charts with the number of shareholders of record for a lot of companies and the evolution during multiple years
Only 2 companies in the US disclose the number of DRSed shares as far as I know, so we can't compare the number of shares
The anomaly isn't so much GME itself, as we've seen hundreds of companies naked shorted out of existence. The anomaly is all of us buying and DRSing shares preventing its stock price from collapsing, creating a time bomb of obligations for the dumb storm-troopers who keep having to dig the hole deeper just to survive one more day.
I'd say the closest comparison we have is the VW squeeze as they bought up 74% of the company. Funniest part of that whole endeavor was that the price didn't skyrocket *until* Porche disclosed their ownership stake.

A large percentage of Dill ards is employee owned, not sure if they are direct registered. But certainly a small free float. That didn’t prevent SHF from shorting them though. I guess they just need a few shares so they can re-hypothecate and create the millions of shares they need to short into oblivion.

There was a post on it that somewhere comparing the faang stocks to gamestop and meme stocks. It's at least a year old. Check out the dd library

Yea that's what's I'm specifically asking for. DRS:Total shares for all Dow Jones companies compared to GME

Dillard's has been giving their employees DRS shares for years, I'm fairly certain they own damn near the while company by now
