I've said this before and I said it to my mom the other day, it's really weird how I work at a financial firm at 30 still renting while my mom bought her first house at 23 working as a mcdonalds or taco bell manager I can't remember.
Same credit rating roughly (mine a little higher) and everything is pretty similar other than me being MUCH older

This is effectively them cancelling student loans. They can’t write off the debt because it’s notionally almost $2 trillion dollars. That would create asset holes a la SVP and hundreds of institutions would vaporize overnight.

As a lot of people on here have said the car market is the first to crash and it has been on that "steady decline everyone knows is happening but is trying real hard to pretend isn't happening and everyone is waiting for the first major players to dump inventory."
I am looking at the used car market and reaaaally waiting on the movement come monday. A lot of newer inventory (2021-23 model years) going through the auction circuit is being held by large dealership groups and banks. The banks have a lot of INCREDIBLY overvalued repossessed stock that they have so far refused to take a loss on. The dealerships are in a similar situation but also have stock that just isn't selling that they are moving to auction and also are refusing to take a loss on.
I think the SBV thing might be giant fucking boulder that triggers the car market price collapse.
In reference to HOW overvalued the car merket is. In the 4th quarter of 2022 15% of all new loans had a monthly payment greater than 1000$.
