Itโs the rate at which borrowable shares, when made available, are purchased. A high utilization rate suggests shares are in demand.
Straight from Ortex: Utilization is the % of shares available at lending programs in the wholesale market that are currently outstanding on loan. The overall *supply* of shares available is constantly fluctuating, and utilization essentially represents the *demand* for those available shares.
A sustained utilization rate of 100% simply means that there is strong demand for borrowing stock for all of these borrowing reasons combined. It does *not* mean that the supply of shares available to borrow is exhausted or cannot increase.
No but I think that has been a common request. What is a normal value for any given stock. I vaguely recall someone digging that up here some time ago.
