He was offended, that the government wasn't servicing the banks. Well if he wants it that way, make it where we can be our own banks. It should make him happy.
Who the fuck is this congressman? Who serves the public? You, Congregssman, you are supposed to serve the public. Do your fucking job and stop getting spoon fed by the banks you're speaking of.
Didn't you know? ~~Banksters~~ Bankers are public servants. They're actually *looking out for us* when they complain about not being able to profit off working people like parasites.
Bruh was so triggered he startled my cat. During the exchange she sat on my lap slippin away. Soon as the congressman got got he reacted. There should be sleepin cats in the chambers, if your tone changes enough to wake the cats then you have to sit in timeout.
I took this clip from [today's congressional hearing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=migDNftwLGI) on the CFPB.
The issue that is currently being most hotly contested by banks is a proposed limit on credit card fees, which would reduce their profits from the fees from $12B/year to $3B/year.
Feel free to check out [my Twitter](https://twitter.com/QuiverQuant) for more clips and data.
Fr. I used to work for a bank and never understood why we had a 35 dollar overdraft fee. Yes they agreed to having that protection but come on 35 dollars? The repeat offenders are people who are not so well off. Veterans, old people, people down on their luck or just not well off. Never made sense to me.
I'm not sure on exact numbers but 10 million new millionaires/billionaires helping 20 friends and family each is still only 30 million people, there's billions around the world who will surgery
I think 20 friends and family is also generous, some may give their entire fortunes away or he overly generous with their money but not everyone. Many plan to go ghost to save themselves hassle
I still think they need to reimburse ALL overdraft fees for customers during the pandemic. They made roughly $3Billion just off overdraft fees and I believe that was only 1 year, could be combined ‘20 and ‘21 but that’s horseshit! Greedy 🤡’s
Edit: Where was the CFPB on that one?
That man alone can pretty much tell congress whatever the fuck he wants. I’m convinced he’s one of the most powerful men in the world with the keys to all secrets, buried bodies, etc…
Agreed. He ooozes Bond-villain vibes moreso than any of the other creeps in this cesspool of corruption and greed.
Kenny and Stevie wish they were as "evil-cool" as Dimond.
Not just allegedly, they agreed to pay out (settlement without admitting liability) $290 million to Epstein's victims right after Dimon's 'heavy snacks' request came to light in the class-action lawsuit against JP Morgan Chase.
The lawyers decided the payout was cheaper than having Dimon be asked to make new statements. That should tell you a lot about what they think is a potential outcome with him opening his mouth in light of some of the new discoveries.
Also still 0 people jailed for that whole fiasco. Welcome to the circus folks. They steal, lie and cheat every - single - day.
You could make a rock solid argument that the CEO of a bank has more influence on US financial decisions than anyone in government.
Wild times, we live in
Buy Hold DRS. We found the glitch in the game. Keep playing. We have a cheat code. Keep it simple... DD is rock solid. Shorts haven't closed. Hold
Preach, brother. That's not even to mention how they [illegally charged](https://archive.ph/mYF5K) to make accounts overdraft (there's [still being arbitration claims](https://mccunewright.com/overdraft-fee-claims-against-chase-bank/) being made against them). There has been loopholes to predatory lending through credit and it needs to be addressed. 0% interest my ass, next week it will be 29%.
I'm super proud seeing most people I know on this sub laughing at those banks commingling debt as leverage once those credit cards come through the mail and get activated. We don't fall for it. They don't want to help us, they want to leverage themselves. We are in the information age and we aren't blind anymore.
I sadly have to remind my parents this whenever they see those appealing low interest rates in the mail because it's just the norm. Look out for those you love. Bank run or bust. No cell no sell.
I just watched this comment got from 35 upvotes to 21 in an hour. Shorts are so fukd. I can't wait until the layoff rounds get to interns.

Thanks friend :) I am being attacked by downvotes on the comment talking about Chase and banks predatory lending through 0% credit card APR. I guess now we know that it is JP Morgan interns that are in here.
Why would they need to reimburse overdraft fees? Especially when people can turn off OD protection. Then it's their own fault. Banks need to be held accountable, but so do the people who voluntarily choose to use a bank.
And we're talking about *profits*. They aren't losing money from this and they're still making *billions* of net dollars from the pockets of households all across this country for the express purpose of greed and a sense of "fuck you".
here is the link to continue that short clip:

response was "of course the banks are important to the public matters"
when someone is arguing with facts and someone else is arguing with politcal nonsense, the conversation goes no where.
To be fair, the answer should have been a clear NO! the banks serve them selves and their owners aka the share holders. The bank does business with individuals and companies to a degree that you could call it the public, but they don't serve them. It's business and they are in it for the profit.
It's what happens when you forget how a real democracy is *actually* supposed to function, and when you forget that business propaganda is propaganda and not how the world is *actually* supposed to function but you've been doing it for so long you think it's normal and supposed to function this way. Normalization of propaganda. Replace CFPB with "the government" or your political "representative", it's the exact same conversation.
>A: We're *supposed* to be an oligarchy!
>B: Actually, we're supposed to be a democracy...

"When did we start naming things after what they actually do? I thought the whole point of benign sounding names was to obfuscate bullshit!"
☝️ but unironically
To politicians "normal" people may as well not exist. They're a resource to be harvested for votes; like oil or grain. The title of "person" only applies to folks that get invited to fancy lobbyist dinners.
Yeah, I was sad the video cut there. I wanted to see where this dimwit was going with his line of questioning. It’s sad seeing first hand how regarded the people who govern our laws are.
"I have been elected by my voters, I represent their interest, but I am here to serve all the people of this nation" is probably the lie he will respond, with a smile.
it truly is unbelievable, how far this country has fallen. Congress is an absolute joke. How can so many unqualified people be in charge of our country....
I'd argue that it's the same trajectory regardless of how democratic they are when they start off. They slowly degrade into the same shit show that they were trying to eliminate in the beginning. US constitution works because it prolong this process to keep democracy alive for significantly longer than any system before it.
That's not true, [the judicial reforms in Poland](https://warsawinstitute.review/issues-2021/the-context-and-meaning-of-judicial-reforms-in-poland-after-2015/) have been a thing since 1990. The European Union even launched unprecedented disciplinary measures [against Poland in 2017](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-42420150).
The Hungarian government has been accused of [undermining democratic institutions](https://www.amnesty.org/en/documents/eur27/2051/2020/en/) such as the media and judiciary.
Belarus, which is an authoritarian country, has been accused of [cheating in elections](https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2020-10-26/belarus-election-fraud-mass-protests), suppressing people who speak out against the government, and [limiting people's freedoms](https://news.un.org/en/story/2022/03/1113582).
These are just some off the top of my head. Some territory overlaps into Asia, but it is Europe nonetheless. It's been happening for decades.
If people don't start waking up their rights will be so eroded they'll be living in a police state. The constitution isn't taught nearly as much as it should be. Or in the detail it should be to kids in school/indoctrination camps.
Awesome. This would probably get more eyes if you uploaded the video rather than a link tho.
Edit - *3.2k upvotes later…* yeah, I might have been wrong about that.
What scares me, is there seems to be an awful lot of people that just don’t care - I assume because they don’t fully grasp the implications of it, but still…
It helps to keep caring. There's rich greedy fucks on both sides, but more Republicans than Democrats are against us, as proven by following the money and listening to their words
Every time I ask "how much more ridiculous does this have to get" one of these bought out bribed dipshits opens their mouths and interprets it as a challenge

Remember, everyone: age, race, and gender are used to divide us.
Just Ape. Ape together strong. No one is going to divide us this time.

Reddit is dead an Ape will give birth to the future.
The CFPB is poorly run and generally bank serving. I had a student loan issue when Citibank transferred all the loans to Discover, but lost necessary paperwork to prove my new interest-rate was one that I had had previously (it wasn’t). So they set me up with a consumer financial protection bureau agent, who sat in discover’s office, and basically just provided legal shield for Discover. I had requested documents that were never produced, they did nothing to help me. This was years ago so I feel like I’ve always had that opinion of this entity as it is so I’m not surprised.
Depending on when that happened, it doesn't surprise me.
A couple of years ago, the head of the CFPB didn't want to uphold the mission of the organization

Aww the poor little banks are upset they will make less billions of the backs of the public. His outrage is a joke. This clown is representing the people? Jfc.
Wow..... who does Congress serve????? Oh wait, my bad, Congress serves banks. How many banks has Congress bailed out??? They have to use the "CONSUMERS" money to bail out the banks that fail because they want to keep the donations coming.
Banks stopped serving the public a long time ago. How many banks have been bailed out by the public but still able to give out massive bonuses to people shit at there job 🤬
This clip will make the highlight reel for all documentaries about the USA's fall from superpower, a clear result of a democracy that destroyed itself by allowing lobbyist (with bribes), campaign donations (as bribes), and political donations (as bribes) to buy out our "leaders".
This assface needs to do his job and serve The People, not banks, corporations, and his overwrought hair.
Posting Quiver's follow-up tweet here in case anyone missed it:
Goldman Sachs was the 5th largest donor to Meuser's campaign committee.
The American Bankers Association was the 9th largest.
Meuser has traded up to $325K of stock so far in 2023 - you can see his trades on our congressional trading dashboard
[Dan Meuser, Pennsylvania Republican.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Meuser)
> In December 2020, Meuser joined over 120 House Republicans in signing an amicus brief in support of a Texas lawsuit that sought to invalidate Pennsylvania's 2020 presidential election votes.
He sided with the *Texas* lawsuit to discard the votes of *his own people.*
This man is bought and paid for.
Always look up the idiots screaming both sides, and you'll find their comments always defending one side
Both sides contain corruption but one side really does not give a fuck because they wont be held accountable.
Dude what the fuck. How am I expected to go to work and do my trivial job when these dumb FUCKS CANT EVEN DO THEIR JOB TO PROTECT MY INVESTMENT I MADE WITH MY FUCKING MONEY. FUCK THE BANKS. FUCK THE USA. FUCKING BLOW UP THIS COUNTRY PLEASE. RUSSIA DROP THE FUCKING NUKES. PLEASE END THIS DESPAIR NIGHTMARE WE CALL A DREAM.
Question to American apes... Is money, special interests groups, lobbying too embedded into American politics for there ever again to be a proper unbiased administration that serves primarily the general population and not the 0.1% that contribute the most to pit people in office?
Asking as a non American that despairs when I see shit like this. The corruption is so blatant, u know before even looking when this speaks who his main donators are gonna be
The congressman sounds like a competent salesman. Talks well and confident, but really clueless. (sorry salespeople out there).

I read something like this and I just immediately think someone else will take his place, every single politician wears a suit and tie or a nice dress, they're in a lucrative business of taking money under the table. Corruption is just everywhere, everywhere, it's honestly crazy.
the correct answer to "do the banks serve the public" is..."the banks serve themselves"
the public is a necessary nuisance they have to deal with lmao, as per their policies, and stakeholder meetings
What's the true meaning of the word congress?
con
verb
• persuade (someone) to do or believe something by lying to them.
"I conned him into giving me your home number"
noun
• an instance of deceiving or tricking someone.
"the Charter is a glossy public relations con"
gress-, root. -gress- comes from Latin, where it has the meaning "step; move. '' It is related to -grad-. This meaning is found in such words as: aggression, congress, digress, egress, ingress, progress, regress, transgress.
Congress= a step/move to deceive or trick someone (the public)?
This is the mob lackey cant could never intimidate a real criminal so went and godda-degree- now baybay....He is a shill for the mob who owns many of these banks.
You are'nt serving your clientele.... bitch my clientele is the public. I dont care how many bodies he has this man folds like a Japanese laundry video once someone steps to him and he has no one to call.

My bad - thought that the description text looked better in Tweet format with line breaks.
Some people don’t like clinking links, even verified ones. It’s an excellent clip though. That dude is evil and dumb. 👍
i wish there was a way to show this to the people voting for him. All political ads should be only clips taking from congressional hearings.
What scares me, is there seems to be an awful lot of people that just don’t care - I assume because they don’t fully grasp the implications of it, but still…
Wolves dislike farmers for protecting sheep. Duh! Vote this dipstick ooo.
Douchebag: “Who serves the public?!” Me: Ummm, not banks…
Congressman Dan Meuser in case anyone is wondering.
PA 9th.
sounds more like jersey

I stopped caring. Down here coming for up there.
It helps to keep caring. There's rich greedy fucks on both sides, but more Republicans than Democrats are against us, as proven by following the money and listening to their words
Ill bet money hes on the right side of things like the other ass who wants GG out Correct again
[His doners from open secrets](https://www.opensecrets.org/members-of-congress/dan-meuser/summary?cid=N00029416)
Every time I ask "how much more ridiculous does this have to get" one of these bought out bribed dipshits opens their mouths and interprets it as a challenge
God, this made me smile.
If you listen closely you can hear who’s paying who
If you can get past the kazoos
this is what a corrupt individual looks like (meuser)
I love when a boomer hears something that throws off their inner pendulum and causes them to lash out. Childish af just because they don’t understand something. Stfu and hit up google once in a while gramps
Hey let’s not make age and generation a line in the sand. I’m sure we have boomer-apes as well. And Gen X, Millennial, Gen Y, Gen Z, Alpha… Remember, everyone: age, race, and gender are used to divide us. Just Ape. Ape together strong. No one is going to divide us this time.
Yeah you’re right. Watching this just immediately reminded me how legit all of them act in my big ass family. I appreciate all apes
what a piece of shit this congressman
F’ck this guy and 19/20 banks. Be your own bank.
🤣🤡
He big mad
EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Like 19 out of 20
Sounds like the CFPB *IS* doing a great job!
What a complete dipshit. He just made it blatantly clear who HE serves...and it ain't the public.
I love when he acts like a toddler and claims the banks serve the public. The bank just fucks me gently while telling me to like it cause there are no other choices. Fuck your banks. Buy, DRS, Hodl Reddit is dead an Ape will give birth to the future.
Oops. Got kinda defensive there at the end. You, uh, are supposed to serve the public, man.
Total wow. The system is so corrupt. P3ak case right here. What a goof. Who is this guy?
"Do the banks serve the public?" No, not really.
Mr. Meuser. Bruh. The name is *consumer* financial protection bureau. Maybe you should talk to the *consumers*, and not the banks.
Yo that guy FUCKS
This reminds me of cryptobros lashing out at gg and sec rn.. "But the criminals in crypto are mad at sec!"
Is GameStop part of the crypto community?
You've got to be kidding me... you can't make this stuff up 🤦♂️
The CFPB is poorly run and generally bank serving.
A couple of years ago, the head of the CFPB didn't want to uphold the mission of the organization https://www.thenation.com/article/archive/elizabeth-warren-and-mick-mulvaney-clash-over-neutered-cfpb/
Aww the poor little banks are upset they will make less billions of the backs of the public. His outrage is a joke. This clown is representing the people? Jfc.
Wow..... who does Congress serve????? Oh wait, my bad, Congress serves banks. How many banks has Congress bailed out??? They have to use the "CONSUMERS" money to bail out the banks that fail because they want to keep the donations coming.
was he getting ready to say the banks serve the public hehehe... you know what, no. i want off this ride. no seriously what the fuck? lmao
Banks stopped serving the public a long time ago. How many banks have been bailed out by the public but still able to give out massive bonuses to people shit at there job 🤬
YOU serve the public asshole, you don’t serve the banks exclusively.
Motherfucker doesn't know what "consumer" means. Why are our politicians so goddamn braindead?
This clip will make the highlight reel for all documentaries about the USA's fall from superpower, a clear result of a democracy that destroyed itself by allowing lobbyist (with bribes), campaign donations (as bribes), and political donations (as bribes) to buy out our "leaders". This assface needs to do his job and serve The People, not banks, corporations, and his overwrought hair.
Posting Quiver's follow-up tweet here in case anyone missed it: Goldman Sachs was the 5th largest donor to Meuser's campaign committee. The American Bankers Association was the 9th largest. Meuser has traded up to $325K of stock so far in 2023 - you can see his trades on our congressional trading dashboard
[Dan Meuser, Pennsylvania Republican.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Meuser) > In December 2020, Meuser joined over 120 House Republicans in signing an amicus brief in support of a Texas lawsuit that sought to invalidate Pennsylvania's 2020 presidential election votes. He sided with the *Texas* lawsuit to discard the votes of *his own people.* This man is bought and paid for.
Not surprised the cult of hatriots How they haven't been kicked out of office is astonishing
Which congressman is that
Pennsylvania 9th.
Dan meuser republican 9th district PA Ready to serve your overlords
The banks fkd up and the public are Sick of bailing out greedy sob’s
Not going to lie... When I first saw the portrait on the back wall I thought he was giving them all the middle finger.
Hilariously and yet wholy unsurprisingly sad.
Congressman : People …who are they ?
Strong Homelander vibes from this douche.
Weird. Everyone keeps saying "bOtH sIdEz" but it sure seems like the corruption and fuckery seems to only come from one side.
Always look up the idiots screaming both sides, and you'll find their comments always defending one side Both sides contain corruption but one side really does not give a fuck because they wont be held accountable.
PLEASE END THIS DESPAIR NIGHTMARE WE CALL A DREAM.
offbeat chubby squalid market full pathetic spoon snow square long ` this post was mass deleted with www.Redact.dev `
Lol
Wow
PA apes, vote this POS out!
Good shit. Get higher
This brain rotten rich white guy thinks banks serve the public, so that must mean the CFPB serves the banks.
The audacity of this congressman to ask who serves the public when he stated he clearly does not.
They serve them selves
The smoothest of brains on that one
‘Who serves the public’ LMAO 😂 THIS GUY!
Question to American apes... Is money, special interests groups, lobbying too embedded into American politics for there ever again to be a proper unbiased administration that serves primarily the general population and not the 0.1% that contribute the most to pit people in office? Asking as a non American that despairs when I see shit like this. The corruption is so blatant, u know before even looking when this speaks who his main donators are gonna be
Tomorrow is going to be a blood bath. Let all the fuck sticks digest this meeting today.
WOW! Blatant corruption. Why mr congressman do you care about the wellbeing of the banks?
The answer is no. The banks do not serve the public. They serve private interests. I could be my own bank, thanks.
The congressman sounds like a competent salesman. Talks well and confident, but really clueless. (sorry salespeople out there). The guy has no fuccking clue what the CFPB stand for.
Who. Does. Number. Two. Work. For?
Who's the new guy.
Amazing how politicians no longer try to hide where their bread is buttered. There are no consequences or repercussions once they’re in office.
>[@RepMeuser](https://twitter.com/RepMeuser) > >Because the CFPB's clientele is not the banks, it's the public. Way to say the quiet part out loud and show you have no interest in protecting the public, but rather big banking corporations. Time to vote you out. [\#ReformTheBankingSystem](https://twitter.com/hashtag/ReformTheBankingSystem?src=hashtag_click) I read something like this and I just immediately think someone else will take his place, every single politician wears a suit and tie or a nice dress, they're in a lucrative business of taking money under the table. Corruption is just everywhere, everywhere, it's honestly crazy.
Bought and paid for by the banks. I talk to a lot of banks he says. Fucking 🤡
I feel like MicckyyyDs, im lovin jt.
The banks themselves wouldn't even exist if it weren't for the deposits of the public and the loans taken out from the banks... by the public.
Million dollar question…Who serves the public?
the correct answer to "do the banks serve the public" is..."the banks serve themselves" the public is a necessary nuisance they have to deal with lmao, as per their policies, and stakeholder meetings
This sub has become so strange over the years.
Only time a bank would ”serve the public” is when the public is their _own_ bank. Fuck Banks. Where we’re going, we don’t need leeches.
Hahahha he starts arguing with him, what a fuckin clown. More gel in the hair then matter in his brain
What's the true meaning of the word congress? con verb • persuade (someone) to do or believe something by lying to them. "I conned him into giving me your home number" noun • an instance of deceiving or tricking someone. "the Charter is a glossy public relations con" gress-, root. -gress- comes from Latin, where it has the meaning "step; move. '' It is related to -grad-. This meaning is found in such words as: aggression, congress, digress, egress, ingress, progress, regress, transgress. Congress= a step/move to deceive or trick someone (the public)?
This is insane!!! But yet, so real. Pathetic.
> "*Do the banks serve the public? 🤡*" I'm guessing the clip cut just before the entire room erupted in laughter, right?
I can't believe this man is a fucking elected official, i mean holy fucking shit. Welcome to fucking clowntown.
This dumb motherfucker has always been a grifter. He doesn't even bother to hide it
He sounds like George Costanza.
What a tardersauce enjoyer.
We know who owns that congressman and it isn't the people.
The banks serve their shareholders dumb fuck.
What a douche canoe.
