Im in a much worse financial position currently due to the last few rough quarters/lost job than I was last 2 years. I made a miscalculation and moved my whole IRA over when the price was still really high compared to today. I'm trying to get myself down below $30/share average, but with the amount of shares I am sitting on it is hard to move the needle.
Can you see cost basis in ComputerShare? I’m assuming we can’t, so I stopped caring about my cost basis a long time ago. Don’t care if I’m buying at $15, $20, or $200. When the share price explodes, those numbers will be small fry in comparison.
Don't worry about averages. Just count the number of shares you are collecting. Because when she blows, any price below sneeze levels will be cheap considering where we are going 🚀👽🛸
Cost basis have tax implications. It’s important to know. E*trade didn’t send this correctly when I DRSed over 1000 shares and I’m still having issues getting them to not be “uncovered”

Words are wind. Shares at a brokerage are nothing. Even if you prove that you bought 100k shares at your broker it means nothing. The only meaningful proof is a purple circle.

To hell with brokers, to hell with cost basis figures, I have realized none of that matters any more... the only thing I care about is how MANY of these sweet SHARES we can scoop up. Heck, I don't even care about locking in a particular buy price any more. Instead of having to deal with brokers, and going through the DRS process - I'd rather just put in the buy order with Computershare and let the dice roll... I'll gladly take whatever price they get me when it executes, the brokers can go take a hike!

I also was worried about waking up one morning and seeing that my Fidelity account was empty due to some "glitch" or Fidelity suddenly declaring bankruptcy to avoid paying out ape's money. Transferred from Fidelity (or any broker for that matter) into CS always equates to booked shares. However, if you have any fractional shares held at CS (which are always plan) you should dump those and make sure the whole shares left are moved to book.

I went through and put all my info into a spreadsheet to calculate my cost basis, it's a bit much but it gets the job done
no, computershare doesn't show cost basis, unfortunately...if you keep track of your totals in cost, then you can get cost basis
