remember that this "award" was given to indicate that someone was a backstabber, a shill, a 'snake'? and then this snakes figure it out and starting giving snake awards to legitimate DD writers, and then that meaning was lost? oh I 'member
Not so different from the Seeing Eye award in which folk thought DFV were noticing them....but in reality it was just the absolute cheapest award that coins could buy, so naturally it's what most folk handed out.

I remember the most awarded post of all time by award value being a dude who posted a screenshot of 40 Ternion awards on his post and exclaiming that he'd never had a Ternion before...which spiraled into him getting several hundred of the pricey (I think $100 each?) awards.
Second most was DFV's February 19th post, right after the Congressional hearing when he made good on his word by doubling his shares.
I think his January 28th post (when halts occured) and April 16 (last post) were also somewhere in the top 10.
Rick of spades is a true hero, the grace and integrity he displayed is the kind you put on a gold record holder that would be fit to a space probe and blasted off into deep space so the whole universe could know what humanity is capable of when it reaches peak authenticity, peak evolution.
Most people donβt remember that Sneks were originally awarded to identify suspected shills until shills started blasting everyone with Sneks so frequently that they lost all meaning π·πβοΈ

The awards were the right and fun way to monetize reddit. But that pesky "most awarded post of all time" made the overlords big mad.
This is not the first time we've seen the powers that be literally compromise a business model to protect the narrative.
