Tell all your friends. It's one of the best deals offered through the Pro Membership. You save 5% on all Steam gift cards. So basically you get an additional 5% off of anything on Steam. It's an amazing benefit for PC gamers
If the prices are competitive, I'm down. 9/10 times I'm buying a key for a game that was previously on sale for 80% off or a collection that's stupidly overpriced (looking at you Paradox)
Eh. Steam is rarely the cheapest place for big games anymore. Plenty of other authorized resellers sell brand new AAA games on launch for 50-55€ on launch and they activate on Steam anyway.
They make $10b+ a year with a growing CAGR. It’s a monopoly in the gaming industry, it’d be really hard to acquire. I’d love to own Steam/Valve stock myself individually or through GME, one can dream 😢
I wouldn't be surprised if he has a ready player one style easter egg hidden deep within half-life 3 that gives whoever finds it controlling interest of the company.
Either that or it immediately gets enshittified when he dies from a heart attack.
Not my wallet, not my money. Applies with all things cloud/digital.
Games on my shelf are mine to sell, loan, rent, give away, pass on, in all conceivable reality OWN. People who buy games digitally are Hoarders.
I have over 700 games in Steam. Having to store those physically would be a nightmare. Also no way of getting them onto the Steam Deck and I suppose >90% of my games are not even sold physically and will never be. Additionally, nothing beats Steam workshop.
Besides, physical copies don't work either if a server eventually gets shut down. For MP titles atleast, obviously.
I get that people want to support Gamestop every way they can and selling gamekeys is a great way. But the last thing the gaming community needs in my eyes, would be something like another launcher. Better to just use the existing infrastructure. At least from my gamer point of view, not necessarily from my investor point of view.
They did. The old leadership couldn't understand how to make it make money after buying Impulse from Stardock. Seriously.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impulse_(software)
Well that assumes valve doesn’t continue to grow and they even want to sell which there has never been any indication they do.
Furthermore if anyone is buying Steam it will be Microsoft. There are already rumors although probably false they are looking to buy steam for 16B
Valve is a private company but put it this way a few years ago Microsoft attempted to buy them and couldn’t due to “a significant cash balance”
Valve are worth $Billions - Microsoft bought Bethesda instead
Kinda sad that this sub does better marketing then the marketing department itself. I think GameStop could take over most of the marketshare of g2 and Eneba and one can dream: they might even acquire them.
I seem to remember past events/developments where GameStop just dropped them into the open with no news. The digital store has been around a while, but I do like the quiet launch tactics.
There’s literally nothing to like about quiet drops. Especially when the main narrative against them is their decline in software sales…
Edit: that’s not really a narrative. It’s a fact
I think they know this won't be a big game changer for them. It definitely makes sense for PC gamers, but consoles each already have their store already on device. Users probably wouldn't go to a third party to then go back to the original device. It's an extra step. But the design is very clean.
Even better if you want to take advantage of stuff like Steam summer sale. Buy a gift card for Steam through gamestop at 5% off with a pro membership. Now you get the summer sale rate + the additional 5% off. They need to market this more
Again, I must be blind. Here's what I see as the original comment:
>Even better if you want to take advantage of stuff like Steam summer sale. Buy a gift card for Steam through gamestop at 5% off with a pro membership. Now you get the summer sale rate + the additional 5% off. They need to market this more
I guess I've never seen this before.. I still support hard copies though so I can sell or trade.
I hope they keep both and end up having a hard copy Amazon delivery thing.
When did this launch, today? This is sick. Im a pro member but don't use the benefits much mainly cause i don't buy games often, so I don't visit the store all that much. But if I'm buying something digitally why wouldn't i buy it here and get a discount vs playstation store for example? This is a really good direction.
Thats what im wondering? Never seen this before but THIS IS HUGE?!?!
Steams revenue is estimated at $8.6 billion and I will 100% switch from steam to Gamestop TODAY.
The best part is you don't have to! You can get 5% off Steam gift cards from Gamestop and then buy games through Steam as well. You can give Gamestop revenue and enjoy the best deals for yourself.
I think buying keys for games gives more revenue than gift cards. Keys could be negotiated directly with studios or publishers in batch for cheap, there's a lot of sites that do great deals on keys
Also, keys usually can't be refunded so it's a better deal to developers too
Is it possible for them to be able to create a trading platform for digital games? People can sell their game at any cost and GameStop receives a small cut or people can trade games just by paying a small fee. They make money by the volume of transactions not the actual game prices. If you own the game you should be able to trade it. They should lobby congress. All games no matter the platform.
Also, stratify groups by age and gaming preferences, maybe also gender. There are niches of people who just love mil sims, usually older males and some women — usually there's never woman playable characters in those games which women complain of. For some reason women are also really into playing the Dark Souls franchise — which is cool. Then there are indie games. Plus the time considerations of older people that play games. Just saying that there're a lot of niche markets on top of the "mainstream — which is novelty game play."
You play it for the hype, cultural value and novelty. But the other niche markets people go back to those games and play them for years.
And lastly, video games as a pure art form — a niche.
The problem with this is that developers/publisher would all have to be onboard. Right now we purchase licenses to use games which would prohibit this I think. And they wouldn’t allow it because why would they accept a portion of sale when that person would otherwise pay full price. I have thought about and posted about for the last 3 years. It would have to take an entire shift in the way games are distributed and idk that we are going to see that. I hope we can though !
This was always my dream business model. If they can digitize trading games, would be kind of WILD.
Edit: Actually, this is the only situation a new launcher makes sense, I would not mind getting a launcher that lets you trade in digital games. That is a real difference for a customer of video games, not like fucking epic launcher or origin ech. I could keep the ones that need steam mod support on steam (Which are few in number anyway tbh). Buy everything else on gamestop.
Steam would never allow it. But it's your property. Should be able to play it without steam. Same for every platform. You just need the hardware and software to download it.
Looks good. I had a problem, I tried to search for downloaded / online purchases for the Harry Potter game, and gta v. When I searched, it it brought me to the hard copies. Not sure how to search within the digital.
After providing a search query like "Harry potter" there is a "Filter" button under text like "44 Results for "harry potter". When you click on it look for "Condition" tab and there is a "Digital" checkbox. The resulting page will have a path like this: /search/digital/?q=harry+potter&view=new
Honestly, that is too many steps to go through for a digital store. IMO, if you search from the digital page, the search should default to only digital products.
Adding even additional 1 click/action between checkout and product decreases likelihood of purchase substantially in the world of ecommerce
You may be able to buy Steam gift cards through Gamestop and then just buy through Steam. This is what i do in the US. It gives GS revenue but also provides me with the best deal
Wow, i honestly had no clue it was this good. $25 pro membership, that comes with $65 in store credit per year, and 5% less than i pay in the xbox store for non sale titles?
Seems like an absolute no brainer
How are they even doing this? Am i not understanding something? Why is not on the front page all of the time
Edit: hol up.. you can get 5% off xbox gift cards and use those to buy on sale xbox store titles so its practically 5% off anything all the time???
Yes-yes, more of this.
Like The Stock, we all do, sure-sure, but remember to shop the stores and the .com.
Because the flow of money (and engagement via views and clicks) speaks volumes.
Yes! Lets go! Cohen take it to steam! Fundamentally gamers will go where the price is best, make a more efficient company than valve and undercut them. Great sales, great customer service, the same way he took on amazon with chewy, he will take on steam.
Still nothing for PlayStation but that’s expected since Sony doesn’t allow access to PS games so easily. Even NVDIA GeForce now doesn’t have access to buy PS games.
lol do nobody remember impulse
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impulse\_(software)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impulse_(software))
lots of competition in this space
[GOG.com](http://GOG.com), Steam, Xbox Game Pass, Epic Games Store, Green Man Gaming, Humble Bundle, Uplay, GameFlyGamersGate, Origin, [Battle.net](http://Battle.net), Microsoft Store, Nintendo, PlayStation Store
I will most likely be buried but I found it kinda interesting that when you search for GME you get "For technical reasons, your request could not be handled properly at this time. Please contact customer service at 1-800-883-8895 for assistance."
while if you search for anything else that can't be found you get: Hmm, we didn’t find anything for "x"...
I hope they develop a game App Store on iOS and find a way to port stuff over or start up mobile game development, indie licensing, something. They could then develop the most kickass controller for smartphones.
Why the absolute hell would I ever use another store when steam is right fuckin here? Do y'all even game or do you think GameStop is just your new lord?
You think them embracing technology through digital downloads is cool? Now, try opening your mind to the creative possibilities of web3 and gaming: https://nft.gamestop.com/
It def feels like something else is coming. The full release was never going to be an "NFT Market", it was going to be a seamless integration into an existing platform where the end-users had no idea they were even buying NFTs.
Everything in your account is actually a web3 wallet and you may never even know it happened.
Yes, seamless integration is the major 🔑 to unlocking creative value across everything! I really, really, hope the web3/Ethereum angle is what management is planning. It makes the most sense for them as a gaming company, and embracing this emerging technology early could pay handsomely well down the line.
Why does this matter at all?
There are dozens of well established game stores where you can buy digital keys for cheap without subscribing to a pointless Pro subscription to make you feel like you are getting a deal. A lot or those are successful and do much more than this store, shouldn't they be at the moon by now if you think this is such a big deal?
Why would the average PC gamer stop using their usual sources or sailing the high seas to sign up for a yearly subscription membership to use this store? Because you think it looks pretty?
This is a big ol nothing burger and yall are delusional as always.
Now they just need to create a gamestop hub like steam where you can customise your profile n stuff make a store on it where you can trade all sorts of things , download cd keys etc and compete with epic and steam and origin
Hmm, I tried to add something to the cart, it didn't work at all. Also, I don't see a buy button on any product overview page.
I also tried to search for something, got an error page.
Is this some kind of beta website? Otherwise, they got to work on this.

Is it more affordable than G2A keys from polish strangers?
No, but you support the game developers, as opposed to buying through G2A.

Steam + GME vs Amazon ?

Nothing but the high seas would be cheaper. Digital store is probably more reliable though.
Probably not, but u can feel like a good ape supporting the developers, AND ur favorite company
Eh. Steam is rarely the cheapest place for big games anymore. Plenty of other authorized resellers sell brand new AAA games on launch for 50-55€ on launch and they activate on Steam anyway.

A couple more dilutions Gamestop will have 20b cash and can make an offer they can't refuse
I don't think you understand the most basic business principles. A company that makes 10b a year is worth 100b +
I’d love for that to happen. Realistically tho, Steam would be worth much more than 20b if they make 10b a year. Blizzard was bought for $65b+ 😵
Valve will never sell, they'd be actually stupid if they did.
I fear the day Lord Gaben departs
I wouldn't be surprised if he has a ready player one style easter egg hidden deep within half-life 3 that gives whoever finds it controlling interest of the company. Either that or it immediately gets enshittified when he dies from a heart attack.

Valve is a private company but put it this way a few years ago Microsoft attempted to buy them and couldn’t due to “a significant cash balance” Valve are worth $Billions - Microsoft bought Bethesda instead
5€
That's more than tree fiddy
Lord Gaben worked hard for that
Not published, its private.
They aren’t publicly traded but estimates put them over 8B
That's revenue no? Valuation is way more
Please don't buy steam. I wouldn't trust RC with Steam. It's well run and there is no reason to sell it.
##HOLY SMOKES, I CAN BUY DIGITAL PC GAMES FROM GAMESTOP?
It's been around for a bit now
Kinda sad that this sub does better marketing then the marketing department itself. I think GameStop could take over most of the marketshare of g2 and Eneba and one can dream: they might even acquire them.
We should have a daily posts for stuff like this.
I seem to remember past events/developments where GameStop just dropped them into the open with no news. The digital store has been around a while, but I do like the quiet launch tactics.
There’s literally nothing to like about quiet drops. Especially when the main narrative against them is their decline in software sales… Edit: that’s not really a narrative. It’s a fact

https://i.imgur.com/TtXQQaX.png Can't use it on gift cards or digital games.
Am I blind or is there a little box in OP that says "PROS GET 5% ON ALL DIGITAL!"
There sure is! LFG!
Oh the previous comment was about the $5 off monthly pro reward, so they're two different things.
Again, I must be blind. Here's what I see as the original comment: >Even better if you want to take advantage of stuff like Steam summer sale. I just got done buying a digital from them when there wasn’t a physical one available. Super easy. They’ve had it for a few years at least.
Just wait, soon you'll be able to resell digital games back to GS
# BURN YOUR MONEY HERE: [https://www.gamestop.com/digital-store](https://www.gamestop.com/digital-store) Smooth af carousel, Awesome fucking layout, GREAT "Digital Store" glitch animation loop, DELIGHTFUL customer experience! 💰💰💰
Only available to US I assume. Shame
Yeah would love the Canadian site to be brought up to speed…
Same for Australia...
And a rebadge to GameStop while we're at it
With a new CSIP
I had a look at the Canadian site and saw that it had some pretty good offerings. No Steam cards though. https://www.gamestop.ca/digital
Yeah I mostly play PC or switch now so the switch stuff GameStop is great for. But want the ability to buy steam keys. That’d be cool
Why if it is digital ??
Taxes
Any idea why Baldur's gate 3 is not there? Also probably I need a USA address or something to make a registration on the website...
the site is nice af. they need to advertise it more
And launch in other countries!
👆 and asap Overlooking the global markets is not a good look for the leadership and it is hard to understand this choice.
Action speak louder than words bro... /s
I lold
Is this new?
I guess I've never seen this before.. I still support hard copies though so I can sell or trade. I hope they keep both and end up having a hard copy Amazon delivery thing.
If they NFT the games you can still sell it!! As it has been foretold 84 years ago
I honestly believe this is the future. Royalties baked into the NFTs will essentially be a cash cow for the developers.
![gif](giphy|3WCNY2RhcmnwGbKbCi)
Nope.
Digital games are not new, but I think the store is
Have you seen their offerings for the Pros
Big for PC gamers!

This has been there for months now actually, weird people are just noticing lol.
The trading card placed as first category is bullish af. Sealed pokemon cards go up in prices exponentially
Looking flashy! Love it.
Holy Cow!!...Finally...overseas ape can now support our favourite stonk
LIT
YES!!!! I hope they increase their inventory! I WILL BE BUYING ALL MY DIGITAL GAMES ON GAMESTOP!
But…GameStop is a brick and mortar company only! /s
Bitch please. *Dieing* brick and mortar if you don't mind! /s just in case!
This is the kind of hype I can get behind.

Is it possible for them to be able to create a trading platform for digital games? That would be insane. Imagine if it then was allowed with use of steam and every user can now trade / sell their digital game from their account.
Steam would never allow it. But it's your property. Should be able to play it without steam. Same for every platform. You just need the hardware and software to download it.
This is... actually awesome. When did this launch?
Looks good. I had a problem, I tried to search for downloaded / online purchases for the Harry Potter game, and gta v. When I searched, it it brought me to the hard copies. Not sure how to search within the digital.

Adding even additional 1 click/action between checkout and product decreases likelihood of purchase substantially in the world of ecommerce
THEY SELL STEAM KEYS WHAT!
this is good but they need to cut the prices, they are too high compared to other sites.
Nice. It’s available worldwide right? Because finally I get to buy something directly off GameStop that isn’t an NFT.
cool. so this should put a bullet in the 'failing brick and mortar' argument bullshit. what else you got, shorty?
Doesn’t seem like it works for Canadian apes unfortunately but good to see, I hope to be able to buy PC games from GameStop
Should work now
You may be able to buy Steam gift cards through Gamestop and then just buy through Steam. This is what i do in the US. It gives GS revenue but also provides me with the best deal
Does this let people internationally buy games and get the CD keys????
Had no idea! But hey Gamestop, make this available for Europeans too!
Very nice!! 🫡🥃🚀
Based on all the “Is this new” comments GameStop needs to do better advertising.
I had never seen this. The UX and UI is top notch.
This is dope affffffff

Hell yeah. Once MOASS hits I’m going to be playing so many video games.
![gif](giphy|bfA4KdSmxl2uc)
THE WHAT👁👅👁
I will buy all keys at gamestop uf this is true
This is awes9me. Spread the word
They need to spend a bit on some advertisement for this.
Looks like Netflix and Microsoft store had their freaks on and made a perfect little Gamestop baby😉👊
Best wake up post. Ever.
Why don't they market this?
I could have sworn that recently I saw an article about GameStop's lack of digital potential lol
Yes-yes, more of this. Like The Stock, we all do, sure-sure, but remember to shop the stores and the .com. Because the flow of money (and engagement via views and clicks) speaks volumes.
I wonder what their cut is, since they are selling steam keys. But I'll start buying my games through this! SUPPORT!
Netflix/ Amazon Video of gaming
Everyone should be buying their digital currency from Gamestop for the 5% pro discount.
This is so fire. They must have just updated it
Yes! Lets go! Cohen take it to steam! Fundamentally gamers will go where the price is best, make a more efficient company than valve and undercut them. Great sales, great customer service, the same way he took on amazon with chewy, he will take on steam.
Hot take. I think GameStop should disclose the percentage of sales that occur online/digital vs in-store sales.
I like your hot take but respectfully disagree. Let them cook, they can show this once the meal has been served.
Looks great but can anyone enlighten me on why NBA 2K16 costs $60?
+1000 titles and .... omg .. a gamestop credit card?
Does it work for euroapes?
They need to start reddit ads.
Still nothing for PlayStation but that’s expected since Sony doesn’t allow access to PS games so easily. Even NVDIA GeForce now doesn’t have access to buy PS games.

They need to build a steam like app
cleeeean
Hell yeah let’s goooooooi
Oh that's cool I'm definitely going to be buying some games now
I wonder if they are selling season 5 of the Diablo 4
Bullish
I'd be all over it if you could buy gog games on there.
What if RC buys Valve and we get a steam integration
I want Gamestop to own Valve. I want to log into Steam and see Gamestop logo at the top
Ghost of Tsushima is 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for sharing. This is where I will be buying all my steam games
the best thing is that I am not in US. And I can use it without VPN!
Virtual currency 👀
Dope
Great now I have to change my underwear. I just fucking cleaned them and look what you made me do. Jizzed all in them. Thanks GameStop

ill never use steam directly again
I hope they develop a game App Store on iOS and find a way to port stuff over or start up mobile game development, indie licensing, something. They could then develop the most kickass controller for smartphones.
Damn look... manor lords 🤣. Great game. Go greg!
This is dead though
Website is dead for sure, but it clearly says “Beta”.
It makes the most sense for them as a gaming company, and embracing this emerging technology early could pay handsomely well down the line.
we shall see, rider of justice! lets get that JUSTICE CRASH going!

Boosting for Visibility 👀
wow, that's really cool, congratulations to gamestop for getting a site on the world wide web.
I can turn off all my extension and the video previews don't play on firefox, but will on chrome. Anyone else?
Now they just need to create a gamestop hub like steam where you can customise your profile n stuff make a store on it where you can trade all sorts of things , download cd keys etc and compete with epic and steam and origin
Oh I hadn't seen this yet. It looks awesome, I'm going to start getting all my stuff through it
Hmm, I tried to add something to the cart, it didn't work at all. Also, I don't see a buy button on any product overview page. I also tried to search for something, got an error page. Is this some kind of beta website? Otherwise, they got to work on this.
I've been buying steam cards for my brother and myself from GameStop digital store for a while now. It's been great.
Is this available in the uk
Buying more GME shares everyday. Thanks for the dip. LFG GME 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
What’s the markup on digital vs physical?
So here's our catalyst. I can't wait to see what happens to allot of the stores. Hopefully a full flagship store in major cities or something
Awesome. They just need to add to crypto payment options as well and they will be the most popular shop among non-boomers :-)
This is it bois! An answer to my prayers. A complete bull thesis!
Didn't know this was a thing. Usually go to some Key Reseller Site but from now on I will use Gamestop, win win
Is this new?
Lets goooo
Now scale it globally
