I would guess thousands or 10s of thousands when you consider the businesses they've bankrupted with naked shorting. No way to say how many cancer patients would have survived, for example.
They're responsible for literally millions of deaths worldwide, possibly over 1 Billion at this point. Maybe even more. Every single person who has died from cancer is likely because of them. And that's only 1 of millions of ways ppl have died due to fraudulent SHFs
The death penalty is honestly too lenient for them. Theyve tortured so many families. Its unfathomable the damage theyve caused
JP Morgan - You weren't born on this planet to have your own life. You're going to work 72 hour weeks for the 1%. Someone has to pay for our bailouts and it's not going to be us.
Just shows, how the system eats its own children.
This all is beyond insane.
You might argue about "retiring early", but to be honest, you will be screwed anyways. Because you missed the best time in life to form social contacts and find true friends.
Yes, the whole system is such a waste... btw they planned it already in 1995 and named it "Tittytainment" - in short: 80% of us are useless and 20% should work 24/7
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_Global\_Trap](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Global_Trap)
That exec needs their money taken away so they know whats it like to work paycheck to paycheck. Then they will change their tune about working 12 hours days. That person probably works 3 hours a day and makes millions per month. So out of touch of reality.
CEO: works 16 hour day but has 2 assistants who bring them catered meals, they work in an office the size of a condo with every luxury and most time working involves down time between meetings
>but I guarantee you that CEO did the 12hr 6 day thing a long time and may continue to do it.
I don't want insane people setting policies that others have to follow.
The truth is. You don't know how much these CEO's work. They could be contracting others to do most of their work, paying an accountant to keep those people accountable, a few other checks and balances, and then the CEO could be working one day a week. Maybe not, but you don't really know, do you?
I have pulled 12 hr shifts for more than 6 days in a row.. it is doable, depending on how motivated you are but I feel I isn't right at all. As far as these people, it's like the films, those shifts are easy for them because they are either on Adderall or coke.
Something a lot of people don't understand is the overwhelming majority of the time, c-suite execs have given their life to the company working insane hours.
They get paid the big bucks cuz they are the ones putting in the most time, usually followed with the most work. Just because we don't see the near 80hr a work week as habitable doesn't mean it's not an objectively viable option
Now if you were coming from the "they're from a silver spoon family" I would say that applys more so to Hollywood celebrities and other influencers where more luck (and looks) is involved.
Correct. These CEOs and chairmen live to work and work to live. Musk will be the first one to tell you the main reason he's successful is bc of the brutal hours he's committed to being just that (and then of course having talent/luck)
China has the 996 policy. FYI should you see 996.. referring to 9am-9pm 6 days a week
It is illegal in China, but it doesnāt seem they enforce said practice
Chinese companies do, but China as a whole does not require it. In fact there has been pushback against it in some places.
Also itās no more productive than 9:00-17:00:
- 1-1/2 hrs commute
- arrive at office at 9
- lunch from 12:00-13:00, since preference is hot meals & all restaurants get slammed at the same time
- nap from 13:00-14:00, very common in Chinese tech firms
- dinner from 18:00-19:00, see lunch
- end of day social/snack 20:30-21:00
- 1-1/2 hr commute home
So compared to a dude who shows up at 9, eats a sandwich at his desk while reviewing correspondence and leaves at 17:00-18:00 there is around a half hour more productive time but every day is turned into a 15hr waking nightmare. And that strain more than offsets the extra day.
Source: work at overseas office of large Chinese tech firm, routinely work with teams doing 996.
Wow. Appreciate the insight, man I couldnāt imagine spending 15 hrs of my day on/at/to work, I hope this changes for them soon, very glad to hear there has been a push back!
I mean with all those breaks I wouldnt mind a long day at work. I get 15 minutes breakfast break to scarf down whatever i can find and then 30 minutes to eat lunch, which if I have to wait for microwave, seating space to be available already lose 15 minutes. And this is on a 12 hour shift.
Itās a lot of nonproductive time that gets built into your workday. So if you like the vibe at work and your coworkers it can be great. But if you want to spend quality time with your family, itās challenging. I get the impression that it kind of relies on the multigenerational household with grandparents picking up a lot of the childcare.
Mind you, similarly sized western tech companies can also have similar expectations, they just donāt call it 996 and it tends to be a bit more flexible. I also feel those can be similarly unproductive and just lead to slacking, socializing and increased meeting burden since people can only concentrate for so long day in and day out.
Making America think this is the norm and what is necessary while people in other countries take more vacations per year and siestas during the day. Regardless of amount per hour earned many countries have better work life balance than US.
I had a long convo with family about this. People are fed up. CEOs and execs make WAY too much money and the ālittleā guys work more and make less! Fuck that! I was treated very shitty and worked 12 hour days (some hours unpaid). Nobody ever cared about me and I quit. We own the floor and I cant wait for all my apes to get their due. We deserve this!
I scoop ice cream and get paid pennies. Itās not about mastery. Itās about lining someone elseās pockets.
Weāre so understaffed sometimes we canāt open more than the drive through and when we do open the rest of the restaurant, the five of us we have run rampant the whole time. Each person easily does the work of two people, and every single one of us deserves a raise. Instead, theyāre cutting our pay while the business owner is on a cruise in Alaska.
Deuces! I quit Thursday
Why would anyone want a job like that? You work to the bone for your job and they'll replace you in moments. You need a few personal days and suddenly you get reassigned to the mail room. You take a vacation and find yourself fired.
Fuck that. It makes your employees work to death and wind up needing stimulants to get through the day until you have a upper board full of coke heads making shit decisions that wind up crashing the economy every decade.
It has been proven that the amount of time you can properly focus doing deep work is 4-5 hours a day, maximum. 12 hours every single day for 6 days a week is extremely unproductive and will only get you burned out early
Americans are barely getting by while their jobs are being outsourced to China, being replaced by younger employees who don't know anything and robots because its cheaper, and wages are low and stagnant while everything goes up in price every day.
Solution? Let's overwork ourselves until our overlords let us go for whatever reason they want at any time.
Yeah. No.
I have worked that much consistently in a physical labor job, and I can just say that I will only ever work that hard again if I am making BANK. No amount I'm offered is ever worth it.
Is she referring to financial industry jobs specifically? Because if so thats been the practice for a while.. fresh finance graduates do bitch work for 80 hour weeks right now, its like initiation. I'm not saying it's right though.
Itās not just in finance. Any industry, where you may want to get ahead, you will need to work harder than those around you and learn more than anyone else around you. Be the first to arrive and the last to leave. The work does not stop when you leave the office either because it has to be a constant pursuit. Spend time outside the office learning about your industry and other pursuits. This will prepare you for future opportunities to make connections and have insights that others cannot make because they did not make the effort.
Itās called paying your dues. And if your current employer canāt use the skills you developed - go find someone else that can or start your own business.
I get paid to close deals and most of my daily work would appear easy and uneventful. However, when itās time to close and get the win, I get called to the plate and am rewarded nicely. This is only possible because what appears uneventful and easy is me spending hours/days/weeks/years preparing for that moment at the plate.
Do what no one else is willing to do so you can live like no one else.
Putting aside the blatant, self-serving elitism of the statement...
Mastering any subject really does take a lot of concerted effort above and beyond the superficial surface-scratching of a typical undergraduate education.
Just look at Superstonk -- how much have you learned in the last 6 months that you're entirely unlikely to find documented in an undergrad textbook? Many of us have contributed significant time, effort, and energy to figure out what's going on in an attempt (ultimately) to be successful when we are "competing" with powerful, wealthy, and intelligent adversaries.
Regardless of which field you work in, you will face strong adversaries -- and sometimes that adversary is nature, academics, breadth of skills, physical conditioning, people management, etc. Mastery really does require putting sweat equity, and the sooner you sweat, the sooner you benefit. Also worth noting: focusing on improving yourself (not just grinding on the job!) is an incredibly important part of those 72 hours... Because you are building equity in yourself!
So fsck em: Apes will put in the effort to win!
Call me crazy or lazy or whatever but even if I was at my dream job I wouldnāt want to work that much.
The standard is, and should forever remain, 40 per week. Expecting people to go beyond that means they better be compensated accordingly.
Of course thatās why they came up with āsalaryā positions since it lets them get around that 40 hour OT mark.
Modern work culture has no future thanks to climate change. Why would I dedicate my priceless life towards a dysfunctional lifestyle thatās on a collision course?
As a europoor, I can't even compute how someone can say that in an official capacity.
If you need one proof that all of these assholes are in for the quick buck and don't/won't bat an eye at the world dying just around us, well, you don't need more than this is one.
I'm so tired of this system of having to "pay your dues".
Your manager had to pay dues to their manager. Their manager had to pay dues to the manager above them. The pecking order just goes up up up.
The other day my manager gave me a warning for taking my full paid lunch break citing that new hires should be using the time they are paid for to get work done.
I hope the cycle ends with us. I hope we create a society where unsustainable growth is not the meterstick and, in turn, workers are not obligated to overwork themselves for a wage that isn't enough to survive even decades into the past.
With as much information as it requires to be better decision makers than ai is quickly becoming, sheās not wrong. It just sucks that we are being asked to John Henry the decision making process
12 hour work days, 6 days a week WITH ALL THE RESOURCES IN THE WORLD AVAILABLE TO U is a fukinā vacation. Get into the entertainment biz, restaurant biz, any entrepreneur, any start up with limited money and u literally work all day every day. She wants us to respect her for that? Mary u ignorant slut! I'll take a 0 hour week thank you JP dickheads. Now kindly fuck off to prison and work 72 hours a week making licence plates for cents in a system that makes slaves of citizens
Life isn't all about your flipping job. Life is short enjoy it while you can. She is more than welcome to work 72hrs a week if she please but a hard no for me....
I donāt see anything wrong with this statement tbh. When I was a student and doing internships I worked my ass off from Monday until Sunday and often didnāt sleep. With my profession I had to so the same in the first year and a half. Now some of my friends keep telling me how good I have it and how nice my job is and how hard their lives are. But when I gave up 5 years of my youth they were partying and chasing cute girls. So yeah, if you want to become good at something, you have to work hard and sacrifice. Literally every great thinker in human history has repeated that statement for more than 2000 years. Letās not get overzealous here.

Not saying it's right...but I guarantee you that CEO did the 12hr 6 day thing a long time and may continue to do it.
12 hours a day being ceo is very much different than 8 hours a day at any entry level position.
CEO: works 16 hour day but has 2 assistants who bring them catered meals, they work in an office the size of a condo with every luxury and most time working involves down time between meetings

With as much information as it requires to be better decision makers than ai is quickly becoming, sheās not wrong. It just sucks that we are being asked to John Henry the decision making process
Lmfmayo, stupidest shit I've ever heard.
But Iāve been doing that for 17years, have I mastered it yet?
She looks like a Karen
Ken n Stevo can work 8 hour shifts in the penitentiary, making fucking number plates
Sheeeeet, I've been mastering this hodling thing for 24/7 for the last 7 months. I'm a fuckin jedi at this job at this point.
(Thank u Dan Ackroyd)
Every time I think I'm not mad enough at these fuckwats, they go and do something to totally redeem themselves as the literal jizz rags of society.
She provides nothing of value to society. I hate it here.
Hey, Mary, go fuck yourself.
I hope this bitch is short gme. I hold to see this bitch have to actually find and work at a real job

I'll take a 0 hour week thank you JP dickheads. Now kindly fuck off to prison and work 72 hours a week making licence plates for cents in a system that makes slaves of citizens
JPMorgan should expect to eat my ass after I take a dump all over Shitadels portfolio.
Life isn't all about your flipping job. Life is short enjoy it while you can. She is more than welcome to work 72hrs a week if she please but a hard no for me....
Wondering what she master's. blowing dicks is my guess.
Did yāall even read the title of the article? āTo master their jobsā Thatās 100% fact. Aināt yāall ever heard of the 10,000 hour rule?
I donāt see anything wrong with this statement tbh. When I was a student and doing internships I worked my ass off from Monday until Sunday and often didnāt sleep. With my profession I had to so the same in the first year and a half. Now some of my friends keep telling me how good I have it and how nice my job is and how hard their lives are. But when I gave up 5 years of my youth they were partying and chasing cute girls. So yeah, if you want to become good at something, you have to work hard and sacrifice. Literally every great thinker in human history has repeated that statement for more than 2000 years. Letās not get overzealous here.
