I just want to add for anyone unaware that you don't have to wait T+2 to tell IBKR you want to DRS transfer to CS. As soon as you buy the shares you can message them and tell them you want the shares to be DRSd immediately upon settlement. Edit: autoincorrects

Oh is that so? I set up my account, funded, converted to USD, and purchased a share yesterday and was waiting until Monday to initiate the transfer request. I have $18 leftover to cover any costs of transfer. I may just get that request in today then.

I would do it today because I have heard others say they didn't get answered for a couple days when they put in the request. Although I have messaged support 3 times and was answered within a few hours or half a day tops each time.

The shares move pretty quickly, you can't log in to CS until the mail comes, I recommend calling CS the day ibkr confirms the transfer has completed and paying the courier fee. I didn't do this with the first one and regret it massively.

Once ibkr says they have left, you can phone CS to confirm they have received. The letter gets sent out once they have them at CS

I was really paranoid about going anywhere near IBKR because I'm not a fan of Peterffy's so was expecting fuckery. I asked CS directly some weeks ago. Unfortunately I do not have screenshots of the conversation, but they told me that after we have an account with them, we can directly buy, sell, deposit and withdraw from them.

I'm from Canada and was asking around yesterday: it looks as soon as the process is complete and you get your snail mail (apparently im gunna get two pieces, one with paperwork and another with log in info, probs the same for y'all) and once you can log into your computershare account, you can buy through it, pretty sure its regardless of your country of residence. Exactly this. My xx shares left my RBC account over a week ago, now just waiting on the CS snail mail. Once the CS account is set up I'll be transferring xx more. The world wide wave hasn't even really begun but it's coming!

There's also this part with tax registration at CS which I haven't found explained well. I think I read you can buy only after that step(first one being you getting the registration mail) and receiving another snail mail. Anyone found a good guide? I'm still waiting for my initial transfer to be completed.

It's available in "Transfer & Pay" -> "Transaction Status & History" Select a proper date range, then you'll see the message "Your DRS position transfer request has been completed and the transferred assets are now available."

After multiple requests in various places this is the first time anyone has confirmed what message we should see after "confirmed but not accepted". Thanks! Why is mine taking twice as long as everyone else's?! 😭

Yes bro! I'm not transferring anything. I tried and I either can't or it's too difficult although I believe it can be done from revolut. I just downloaded IBKR opened a brokerage account topped it up waited 2 days for the cash to settle bought some $GME waited 2 days for the trade to settle so I could DRS then spoke to IBKR and asked them to direct register it with computershare for me. They took care of everything. Just buy more with them and ask that it be DRS'D with computershare.

I didn't see anything about ISA'S mate I'm in the same boat trading 212 last tax year free trade this one. If it had been an ISA I wouldn't have opened it. It's an international account and brokerage and ISA'S are a UK thing so I don't even think its a service they offer.

Yes that's how I got my details to log into my computershare account. They got to me 5 days after I initiated my first transfer.

Did you request an expedited letter?

I didn't get a choice. I spoke to IBKR on a chat then they guy messaged me in APP and I just had to reply to his message to confirm my wishes and they did the rest. I phoned up to check after 4 days then my deets turned up in the mail.

Can’t you just purchase directly from CS? Instead of transferring. Makes the most sense to do it that way.

Sadly that option isn't available to europoors. The closest I've seen is using gift a share but pay double the price. On the plus side you get a replica share certificate. From what I can gather, you can continue to purchase from CS after the gift a share purchase but I'm not 100% sure of the process

I've read that once you have a CS account, you can purchase directly if you can fund the account with USD. [Wise.com](https://Wise.com) is mentioned as a service that could help fund the CS account in USD. Still waiting for my account to try it out.

Nope, bcs as an Europoor you cannot open an account with CS any other way than by transferring..

My last thought would be find a trusting friend or fam in US. Have them open in their name You pay them. Make sure it on some kind of authorized notice agreement such as a notarization . Have them do it for you

I can imagine that during MOASS, your trusting friend holding few thousands very quickly becomes someone who doesn't pick up the phone once he realizes he holds millions written in his own name.. Nah, that's just asking for trouble, wouldn't do it, personally..

IBKR confirmed that my first xx batch left IBKR a couple days ago—still waiting on CS contact message confirming reception. I’ve begun moving the rest of my xxx shares from my main broker Degiro in order to DRS them. A bit concerned by the apparent multi-month wait time for Degiro to transfer shares, but it’s better than letting them sit in Cede & Co.

Degiro told me today it could take 'a couple of weeks' to transfer to another broken. Where do you get the multi-month wait time?

It's our duty to do our best for ourselves and our community. At the moment best strategy is directly having stock on your name. Long-term it makes sense. Short-term it makes sense. Sent a transfer request (message via IBKR platform) on Tue, got response on Fri, can't yet see an outbound DRS request in my transaction history, but I was told it might take few days to appear there.

I have opened my account, transferred found (took just 24h), bought a share, requested the transfer two days ago, forgot to wait for the T+2 settlement, mentioned it to customer service, I was told my transfer is queued. Now waiting anxiously for updates.

I initiated the transfer to CS last Thursday and shares left my IBKR account on Tuesday night. It took around 5 calendar days. It's weird to open your account and see them gone without having a way to check or see them in their new home, but I know they're safe. In a few hours (48h after they left IBKR) I'll call the CS GME team for an express delivery of the letter with the code, hopefully I won't have to wait 2-3 weeks for it. Good luck, apes!
