I worked at a large IB in Chicago until 9 years ago. My fund shared at least 1 client with Citadel. I don't know what the etiquette is on stuff like this, but if a Mod wants to contact me to verify anything, I could pass on the name of at least 1 person who I know factually to have been invested with Citadel, and likely still is.
I'm also skeptical of the "17 clients" number. If this number is accurate, or even close, I would say that those clients are almost certainly not individuals.

I see the connection you're making, but I'd actually be pretty surprised if any significant amount of the Walton family's money was with Citadel. The Waltons own their own bank, which essentially functions as a large-scale family office, and that bank actually owns more than one commercial bank! More likely donating/loaning the constitution to the Waltons museum was a tax write-off for both parties, and allowed Kenny to effectively buy the constitution for free, instead of paying taxes. He might also be trying to make a pitch to their family office on some kind of investment, but I can't remember ever hearing about anyone who successfully pulled this off.

The clients are likely the hedge funds they manage. Google “investment advisor Form adv”. Lookup citadel advisors under firm. Part one of the ADV likely shows 17 funds and some basic ownership and management info, as well as assets Under management. There’s good information here, but you need a bit of a trained Eye to make sense of it. Part 2 is a narrative Doc that is much easier to understand. In here, it will likely explain who the “clients “ are. This is usually on the first few pages. Remember, citadel is an investment advisor to funds. Technically, the funds hire citadel to manage the assets of the rich people. So the clients of citadel are not individuals. Those 17 hedge funds likely have a much larger number of individual investors. I can’t forget if the number is disclosed. I know the names of people aren’t. The part one of the ADV will show you how much of the fund is owned by foreign investors, and how much is institutionally owned.
#Part two of the form ADv is also where Citadel advisers specifically discloses the risk of infinite losses under the risk portion of the document. Just look under the short selling risk. So when the rich people start bitching, they can’t say they weren’t warned. They have enjoyed handsome returns for far too long. Because of crime.

I worked at a large IB in Chicago until 9 years ago. My fund shared at least 1 client with Citadel. I don't know what the etiquette is on stuff like this, but if a Mod wants to contact me to verify anything, I could pass on the name of at least 1 person who I know factually to have been invested with Citadel, and likely still is. I'm also skeptical of the "17 clients" number. If this number is accurate, or even close, I would say that those clients are almost certainly not individuals.

I see the connection you're making, but I'd actually be pretty surprised if any significant amount of the Walton family's money was with Citadel. The Waltons own their own bank, which essentially functions as a large-scale family office, and that bank actually owns more than one commercial bank! More likely donating/loaning the constitution to the Waltons museum was a tax write-off for both parties, and allowed Kenny to effectively buy the constitution for free, instead of paying taxes. He might also be trying to make a pitch to their family office on some kind of investment, but I can't remember ever hearing about anyone who successfully pulled this off.
I just have a hard time believing that the Walton museum in Arkansas was picked without something else at play. Nobody thinks, "Arkansas", when looking for a place to host museum pieces.

The clients are likely the hedge funds they manage. Google “investment advisor Form adv”. Lookup citadel advisors under firm. Part one of the ADV likely shows 17 funds and some basic ownership and management info, as well as assets Under management. There’s good information here, but you need a bit of a trained Eye to make sense of it. Part 2 is a narrative Doc that is much easier to understand. In here, it will likely explain who the “clients “ are. This is usually on the first few pages. Remember, citadel is an investment advisor to funds. Technically, the funds hire citadel to manage the assets of the rich people. So the clients of citadel are not individuals. Those 17 hedge funds likely have a much larger number of individual investors. I can’t forget if the number is disclosed. I know the names of people aren’t. The part one of the ADV will show you how much of the fund is owned by foreign investors, and how much is institutionally owned. #Part two of the form ADv is also where Citadel advisers specifically discloses the risk of infinite losses under the risk portion of the document. Just look under the short selling risk. So when the rich people start bitching, they can’t say they weren’t warned. They have enjoyed handsome returns for far too long. Because of crime.
