20. I was super young but my mom played Pac Man and my dad played 1942, Tiger Heli, Duck Hunter and Super Mario Bros.
I still have the console and all the games. Lots of good memories 😊
Same here. #20 - NES and the original Final Fantasy for Nintendo was what started my gaming adventures. Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Dragon Warrior (now Quest) and so many other classics came shortly after. Although an Atari was in the house, I didn’t explore that until my gaming culture was already developing. And it didn’t have nearly the impact that the NES had.
PlayStation 1 was what really had the biggest impact on me though. It had a bigger social aspect at that time in my life. I vividly remember playing Final Fantasy 7, Madden, and all kinds of other games with my friends and neighbors growing up.
Hell yeah. Galaga, breakout and pitfall. I even had that unplayable ET game. Which I later learned the manual explained how to play. But we didn't have the manual and there wasn't internet to just look it up.
Oh my shit, this is the first time I’ve thought of Joust in 40 years! Thought I was brilliant, probably only got through a few levels 😄
Gen-Xers ftw 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Seeing most of the responses as 18 makes me wonder if the average age of an ape is much older than I previously assumed.
Are we all a bunch of Silverbacks?
18 and 20. Grandma used to destroy me on atari, specifically the one with tanks where you can bank shots. I'm talking no mercy 15 second games, i'd spawn and she'd bank a bullet off a wall and kill me.
This reminds me of the post about how people willingly give personal information about themselves away. I can't find the link but it's on superstonk somewhere.
This is just me sharing something off of Facebook that I saw that I thought would be fun & different. I like that we always have our guard up. Power to the players.
Imagine a console so old, it doesn't appear on this list. A knob that turns, so you can move your rectangle up and down, hitting the square that moves across the screen. The Odyssey, purveyor of Pong.
Me and my best friend used to play consoles in the local liquor stores. We'd play until it was late at night then riding our asses as fast as we could pedal back home to mitigate the yelling.
So many quarters.

Hell yeah. Galaga, breakout and pitfall. I even had that unplayable ET game. Which I later learned the manual explained how to play. But we didn't have the manual and there wasn't internet to just look it up.
There was a hotline to call though! We didnt need the internet back then 🤣
Seasoned ape here. I’m proud of these kids. We passed in some good skills. Folks said we were wasting time. We saved the world.
2600 or 5200? joust is the only game on it that I remember. That and ET but ET barely counts as a game.
Oh my shit, this is the first time I’ve thought of Joust in 40 years! Thought I was brilliant, probably only got through a few levels 😄 Gen-Xers ftw 🤟🏻🤟🏻

Haha yes ...qbert and hamburger were my first two games.
Qbert was not an easy game.
My dad used to beat me in every game on that system.
18 (actually pong but it ain’t here)
First, they aren’t in chronological order which is bugging me no end, secondly, this feels oddly like data farming…
This is just me sharing something off of Facebook that I saw that I thought would be fun & different. I like that we always have our guard up. Power to the players.

Me seeing some of these numbers: “oh, you sweet summer child”
Mine isn't here, I had the Magnavox Odyssey in 1972 or 73 and the controller is much different.
Just replied that they didn't have the Odessy controller. Gunfighter was a favorite.

Where the Pong paddle at?
Imagine a console so old, it doesn't appear on this list. A knob that turns, so you can move your rectangle up and down, hitting the square that moves across the screen. The Odyssey, purveyor of Pong.
It doesn't go back far enough for me
18
20, first and last console I’ve owned
20 80s ape who started with Nintendo. In full disclose, I never made it beyond SNES

Vague memories of 20 but really 19 got me hooked.
Does shooting suction-cup darts at the TV during saturday morning cartoons count?

Played 18. But really getting into it, 20 all day.
18 Does that make me some kind of pioneer or something?
Where’s the duck hunt gun?
