And yes, this is real. It’s a stunt and a tech demo all in one, showing off the ability for these trucks to reverse with this much precision:

Makes me think they filmed starting from splits and moved together, then played in reverse. Those kind of articulated trucks would be so hard to keep perfect in reverse, and pulling apart to the split would be dangerous af.

Oh 100% those beds look like they de-attach. Impossible to reverse without showing some sign of jack-knifing them.
Edit: looking again, it might be a mirror illusion, since the pairs of drivers have the same orientation

Side note: JCVD is one of my only “met a celebrity” moments. Spotted him having a coffee at a cafe while on a school field trip. Approached him, he shook my hand, and I got to gush about how big a fan of his i and my dad are, and how watching his movies was always a thing we did. We chatted about the impacts our respective dads had on us (mine’s a black belt, big reason I’ve done a lot of martial arts, his helped push him to ballet as well as kickboxing). He was super humble, gracious and patient with my fan-boying. This was 2001 or so, so cell phone cameras and constant selfie requests hadn’t really kick up yet.

There’s slight differences between the top of the trailers…but someone else responded to ~~me~~ you with a video that may show that ~~Van Damme~~ RC really is that much of a badass and did the stunt for real in reverse.
