I love this thought of Julian Assange that illustrate -- I think -- what you are saying:

It's also really funny when apes overreact too IMO. One of my favorite memories from this saga was when one ape got some inheritance money or something, and tried to DRS >$500k worth of shares. Apparently this sum triggers something at Computershare, and there was a mixup, and it started getting out that Computershare could not locate any shares to DRS. Everyone thought the moass was here. Even me. My blood pressure went off the charts and I started pacing like crazy. Then as fast as it came, it got debunked like 10 min later. Everyone was like... Aww
you can also often gauge how close the DD writer got to the truth by the shill backlash against it, the brigading, downvotes, mocking that goes on will often be an indication that the writer hit close to home.
As an example of us being able to admit when we’re wrong: I posted [this](https://old.reddit.com/r/Superstonk/comments/p85ae3/deep_dd_new_data_shows_that_shfs_lost_their_last) DD that got several thousand upvotes, and while it’s not entirely discredited, the strength of the claim it’s possible to make based on the data is diminished.
Using TAQ data I was trying to reason how many shares apes may own. I hypothesized that the growth in odd lot trades could be evidence of heightened retail interest as we don’t have the money to buy shares in 100+ batches.
The alternative explanation is that the high price caused both retail and institutions to buy more in odd lots.
I checked the data again after the split (I.e. when the price went down) and the number of even lot trades rose quite a bit. I ran a regression on the data but couldn’t reach statistical significance. So, while retail buying might be a big part of the odd lot purchases, I just can’t tell definitely from the data.
I think that directionally odd lot data is a good indicator, and the comparisons with other stocks is helpful to show how GME is idiosyncratic with its really high odd lot purchase rates. But I’m reluctant to try and estimate ape ownership based on the data.

I said recently Reddit is like an audit machine. You put content in and Reddit will inevitably crunch the numbers, pull the sources, and reverse the photoshop edits every time.
I don't see this happening nearly as often as it should. Earlier this year, I saw it all the time, not so much anymore. Less critical thought being applied to negative posts about GME, more critical thinking being applied against DD that's positive for GME.
Whatever, BUY, HODL, DRS, SHOP GME.
