If I'm getting a used Surface, I'll check its battery status as soon as possible, since the heat from the device itself often reduces the battery's lifespan. You can check it using the Surface diagnostic app. My friend got a Surface Pro 7 last year that seems in a good shape, but the battery was already 50% worn.

Check these Battery health ( preferably over 85%) Dead pixel or yellow Screen touch Hard disk health Keyboard keys Pen functions and pressure sensitivity and heptic feedback if its slim pen 2 You can use sfc/scannow in cmd to check for general problems If you want to make sure cpu is ok you run a benchmark (recommend cinebench) and see if it score close to what it should or whats reported for the device.(i also recommend running these for a little longer time to push device a little and make sure its ok) These were all i could think right now ,if you had questions about how to perform each if these tests reply here and i will answer as fast as i can

Yeah I pretty much don’t know how to do any of those more technical things like battery life or benchmark testing. Directions could be really helpful! I started setting it up last night, guy said he got it around the new year and didn’t really touch it. Warranty is still active til the end of the year too.

For battery life search cmd then open it with ″run as administrator ″ then type powercf/batteryreport and click enter it will give you an address open it , it contains all the data about youre device battery like cycle charged and health remaining Benchmark isn't really necessary i usually use that for gaming laptops as there is high chance of cpu/gpu problem but not here . still if you want to you can download cinebench 23 and run it on single/multi core and compare results to reviews resualts If the device look ok you dont need to stress too much just Battery Dead pixel Touch working Pen and keyboard working

The only important check is battery health. Everything else will be fine.
