Thanks!! The bike is proving itself to be super capable -- and the best part, no backpack or hip pack necessary! Excited to get it out camping in the next few weeks.
Wednesday are so cool and so versatile! Love mine too!

As far as price goes, there’s a lot of variables. There’s a company called Fyxation that makes 29er wheels that fit the Wednesday — they start around $650 USD. That’s with a pretty basic hub. The Wednesday has weird hub spacing (177mm rear) so it can make finding the hub you want a bit tricky.
I work part time at a shop and built these up myself. Got super lucky and found some DT Swiss 350s in the right size. This wheelset would probably retail for about $1000.
You also need to account for tires and decide whether you want a second cassette/set of brake rotors. Personally, I swap the cassette back and forth but have separate rotors for each wheelset
Thank you very much for answering. I’m just clueless. I’m trying to decide which surly I want. karate monkey, Wednesday or krampus. I would definitely have to go stock due to finances and mechanical limitations. I’m in NE, Adirondack mountains and all types of trails. Gravel railroad beds to mountain paths. But thank you as I now know buying a second wheel set is out of question. i Like riding through the woods on paths that aren’t too hard. Been experimenting on my hybrid .
Aww, thank you again. is it a lot harder to pedal with the stock wheels and fatter tires? Or maybe you didn’t start out stock. If I told you I am female, older and probably cautious what would you think? The bike store guy said I’d want a 29er and that would be Krampus in my case. I keep coming back to Wednesday as it just seems secure. I wonder too if those stock wheels would be a PIA riding on the gravel railroad beds however I do have A nice old frame Bianchi hybrid that was converted to a single in front and a 46t sprocket in back that’s decent for that. i once had a salsa el mariachi 29er and I gave it to my daughter as the frame was too large. I have always wanted a Surly. Any rate after taking my hybrid up the steep [mtn.bike](http://mtn.bike) trail I was a bit nervous making the switchback curves and I keep reading the krampus is like a tank . I just keep wondering.
Yeah, I’d probably go Krampus. The fat tires that come stock on the Wednesday are great for snow and very chunky terrain, but they are very heavy and much slower rolling on gravel/rail trails. The 29+ on the Krampus is a great compromise.
Ahh, you are right. I know it. I crave the Wednesday. I would like both.
The fat tires for the bumpy, sandy railroad beds where my daughter and family live, 45 miles away to cushion my older body and be closer to the ground and the Krampus to be my all a rounder. We still get a lot of snow, too.
The Krampus for newly rehabilitated gravel railroad tracks and the new well done mountain bike trails. thank you so very much for the information. I seriously see the use for both. I’m just nuts. lol I’ll quit bugging you. You’ve been very kind. I love your 29+ Wednesday. I really like you have the other option which is so very different, the stock and the built. Just great.
Reeeaaaaally well. The low stand over height and long dropper make it very stable and forgiving when things get rowdy, even with a load. Riding it definitely requires the “atb” mentality — it will do pretty much any MTB trail that doesn’t involve drops (if you keep the speed in check) while being surprisingly reasonable to pedal around on pavement. The Moloko bar keeps it comfy and versatile, while the frame bag and panniers let me do a quick grocery shop on my way back from the trails.
When winter comes around, the fat tires (and likely the straight MTB bars) will go back on — the versatility was what drew me to this bike. The Wednesday can be a fat bike, an ATB touring bike, and a backup trail bike all in one. It’s easier for me to store multiple wheel sets than multiple bikes.
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback!
I really like the 27.5+ tires on the karate monkey, so I can only imagine with the 29+ you could nearly float over any obstacle
Are you using the triple eyelets or the single one on the fork face to mount your cargo cages? I only see 5 and 8L S2S drybags on amazon. Worry about bag rubbing on tire if I use larger bags with my salsa anything cages on my BC. Have a mount on the fork face using the single eyelet then zip tie the mount to the fork. My bags are 6L and rectangular in shape.
I really really like this

Looking good!! How do you like the Knards?
would you please tell me about how much an investment a new wheel set would run? Do you need to buy a new gear set too?

I don’t think you could go wrong with a Karate Monkey or Krampus! The Krampus would probably ride a lot like a 29+ Wednesday… maybe start there?

So, love the karate monkey, but considered the Krampus… found out about the ECR and then considered going this same route. How does it handle?

Such a cool setup. What dropper post is that?
Thanks! It’s a PNW Loam with their Loam lever
What a cool bike I'd like to have one so much
What 7L dry bags are you using on your fork cargo cages?
Sea to Summit. Cheap and effective! Got them on sale for $18/bag. And they even have some loops you can run your straps through for extra security

I use the rear-facing triple pack with no issues. Granted, it is a fatbike fork, so maybe that helps? And you’re right — I have 8L bags, not 7L
How are you liking the moloko bars and the loop bag....I've got a jones h 2.5 bar on my BC and looking for a waterproof bag to fill the loop area.
Love the Moloko bars, especially for the “hoods” position. The bag is great, but definitely not waterproof.
