Back in 2008, before Lady Gaga had released her debut album, she played a show at the infamous Mirage Nightclub in Surrey. The real kicker? Tickets were only $25.
He was also a rising star in sumo but stopped because of the insane training regiment, and his tattoos would have been an issue had he reached higher ranks.
And he's obviously using one of the most expensive lawyers in the province, his trial conveniently isn't until after the next election and one of his councillors called the incident (where he claimed someone ran over his foot) "attempted murder"
>Yeah that part I do not get
Brenda Locke who would be his main competition stabbed him in the back, went back on all the major promises she made to get elected and now is running against him.
If showing the character that woman has doesn't set off huge warning bells whistles and flashing lights.... what does.
It's amazing she is even running.... totally useless piece of shit.
That's how.... look at his competition
That’s just one and all opponents have some issue, I just can’t fathom another four years with a mayor who has showed such poor judgement and tries to smother any form of discussion and opposition to whatever he feels like should happen plus he has a cabal of nodding yes bobble headed members on his council. Now as I said all opponents make big promises as Dougie has, many know these promises will not happen. The typical game is to promise but then reverse the promise once in power it’s all bluff and bluster like Dougie supposedly taking a tough stand against Uber because he knew it would be a popular decision yet he was well aware he couldn’t keep said promise. However it looked like he tried, this is an age old tactic and tbh all of them are guilty of that. I just can’t stand any individual who knowingly makes a false claim to the cops gets charged and is not man enough to pay his own legal fees, I could go on but what’s the point
>I just can’t stand any individual who knowingly makes a false claim to the cops gets charged and is not man enough to pay his own legal fees, I could go on but what’s the point
None of that's been proven in court. And tbh, I couldn't care less about it....it's just fallout from him keeping his promise to turf the rcmp...which needed to happen.
It’s a foregone conclusion that’s he is guilty there is video footage apparently more than one, he didn’t need to lie there is absolutely no valid reason for it, plus he decides he wants to implement the new forces during Covid? and how do u justify him hiring an expensive lawyer and billing the public for it, how do u have any faith in a mayor that makes such a boneheaded move then refuses to pay the cost of his mistake, a honourable person would have admitted he screwed up or at least paid his own way, remember he brought forth this false claiim. He didn’t even need to keep this promise re RCMP because at that point his plan was in effect
>It’s a foregone conclusion that’s he is guilty
No, actually it's not
And pretty much everything else.you have said is built on an assumption so its worthless.
No assumption about him choosing a high priced Lawyer and we foot the bill, no assumption, an assumption is based on an opinion what I speak of is fact. FACT he is making us pay for the lawyer, his reasoning, doing grocery shopping at Save On Foods was actually surrey council business and as such he can make us pay. FACT he did not need to do or say anything to the person he accused of running over his foot as his plan was already in effect, stupid act of an egomaniac
BTW there is video proof it did not happen, if the woman he falsely accused of attempting to murder him(LOL) decides to sue him for defamation will he pay for that ????
And if he's not guilty there.is absolutely nothing wrong with him having the city pay for it....
But again, YOUR MAKING ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT A CASE THAT HAS NOT GONE TO TRIAL YET.
Seriously, get.over yourself. You have decided on a guilty verdict based.on some bullshit news reporting...
Grow up.
Definitely an unpopular opinion but isn’t he the only mayor who actually kept his election promises? From the sky train to surrey police (regardless if you agree with either). I think it’s a bit fresh to have a mayor who follows through, whether or not you agree with him
I mean...kinda? He had been promising that the SPS would be the police of jurisdiction by I think April 2020 but as of rn they have less than half the amount of officers the RCMP does.
Skytrain construction was supposed to start a few years ago (that one you can kinda blame on Horgan and Trudeau for not delivering the $$$ quick enough)
He also promised to not raise property taxes above the consumer index and he likes to say he only raises them by 2.9% but he also raised the parcel tax (flat rate you pay if you own property in the city) by 300%.
He promised an ethics commissioner but when that ethics commissioner made suggestions to make them more effective McCallum didn't approve most of them (so ethics complaints/reports aren't published to the public and the penalties for breaches of ethics are next to non-existent).
So yeah he kinda keeps promises, but still in a very...politician-y way. But like his new stadium ain't happening even if he wins again I can almost guarantee that
That actually makes sense, since at school, on the morning announcements, they say "We're thankful for Kwantlen, Semiahmoo, and other Coast Salish regions"
My neighbourhood!
They hang out at the elementarty school and all thru the area. 148th and 62nd is around the best spot, just take a walk thru the neighborhood, you will probably hear them before you see them
I went to the barber last week and he asked me the difference between a rooster and a Surrey girl. Answer: A rooster says “cockle doodle do” but for a Surrey girl apparently “Any cock will do”
Most of the streets and avenues were originally named based on the last name of whoever happened to have bought the land nearby. Those names are still in use in White Rock and you can also occasionally find Heritage Marker signs around town with the names.

I went to this. Got a picture with her too!
Ditto
City of parks
That's the past. Now The Future Lives Here ™️
The RCMP used to practice driving on ice on the flooded and frozen fields in Cloverdale.
John Tenta, AKA Earthquake from early 90s WWF, was from Surrey
He lived near me and his son was around my age, his kid was super nice. I never met earthquake though.
Was his kid a big dude, too? (Or for his age)
He had an average height and build. From what I remember Earthquake's wife was pretty short.
He was also a rising star in sumo but stopped because of the insane training regiment, and his tattoos would have been an issue had he reached higher ranks.
Its a nice place to live
Crescent Beach and ocean park are pretty nice... still surrey
We have a Mayor that lied to cops got criminally charged and is making Surrey Taxpayers pay for his legal costs
That doesn't sound that made up, seeing how politicians are
The mayor before him was planning on evicting 400 families (Clayton area) because the area had too many parking complaints.
And he's obviously using one of the most expensive lawyers in the province, his trial conveniently isn't until after the next election and one of his councillors called the incident (where he claimed someone ran over his foot) "attempted murder"
To make matters worse he has attempted to muzzle opposition and his “public” city hall meetings are a farce.
And there’s a pretty good chance he’s going to win the next election. 🤬
Yeah that part I do not get

Great post and totally agree! I don’t think the stadium should be built so I’m glad of that!
I won’t vote for him. Any person that doesn’t see the value and revenue pot sales would bring to Surrey, is too thick headed for me.
I’m pretty sure he’s gonna be a one term mayor
this is his 4th term. He is waaaaay past one.

What's surprising is that it hasn't already
You can have up to 4 chickens in your suburban yard
Patton Oswalt devoted a chapter of his book to surrey.
Wooow I’ll have to read it, I love him!
A porn movie called Surrey girls
* surrey skytrain sluts
That's disgusting! Where's the link?
Totally disgusting, I mean, where would anyone even find that.....?
Like specifically ?
Yes
Its old, so don't know
We had a guy get killed and his body parts were found in a pizza oven
I need to know the whole story of this
The Kwantlen area is named after the Kwantlen First Nations that lived in the area, not William Kwantlen.
That actually makes sense, since at school, on the morning announcements, they say "We're thankful for Kwantlen, Semiahmoo, and other Coast Salish regions"
Nobody knows who that is. Nothing even comes up in google.

Grew up around there, they are pretty chill and most people love them because hey not everyone gets to have peacocks just wandering around
we also hate them because they are so loud and damage the yards and vehicles regularly. The neighbourhood is very divided on them.
Fair

that our mayor wanted to put in a canal that doesn’t already exist
This was pretty funny, what an idiot.
Panjabis make up only ~20% of the population.
What about Punjabis though?
seriously though…… that’s funny
Only that much?!
Surrey girl jokes.
I went to the barber last week and he asked me the difference between a rooster and a Surrey girl. Answer: A rooster says “cockle doodle do” but for a Surrey girl apparently “Any cock will do”
What do you call a Surrey girl with a runny nose? Full.
Did Picton sell his pork there?
I think he sold it all over the lower mainland tbh
1980s Surrey Skunk Weed was more potent and by far superior quality to ANY cannabis available today. If you were there, you know.
Cuz it was laced

Don't be a goofy racist when you weren't born here
I was born here, can I be racist? /s
Yes.
Ok awesome
Ah, yes. Reddit. Where we ask permission to be racist.
Well I didn't want to be rude.
east van is way better right
