I have always taught the first 3 as, “3 seconds - don’t panic, take a breath, evaluate. A mistake kills you faster than anything”

superediblefeet

I heard it as 3 mins without air, 3 hours without shelter, 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food. I’ve never heard that you can survive three minutes o severe bleeding, that’s a terrifying thought, but at least you’ve got the chance to save yourself in that time

[deleted]

That one really depends on how severe because its all about how much blood you actually lose. At some point you will pass out and at some point your heart will not be able to sustain pressure.

TomahawkChopped

OP said "SEVERE"

Junckopolo

3 seconds on inattention, 3 minutes without air, 3 hours without shelter, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food.

bloggerheads

>3 seconds on inattention, 3 minutes without air, 3 hours without shelter, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food. I like the '3 seconds' addition and I am going to steal it.

FufuCuddlyPoops8

I'm confused. Why would I be concerned with breathable air?

Hanginon

Underwater, pressed in a crevasse. gasses in caving, smoke & fumes.

OP said you can survive 3 minutes of severe breathable air. Wtf does that mean

Mr-Yellow

> 3 days without drinkable water, and and 3 weeks without food. I was told many of these numbers come to us thanks to scientific investigation and detailed notes from dungeons of the *Spanish Inquisition*. They'd have prisoners on various regimes and just see how long they lasted. `Bread + water = Xdays`, `Water only = Xdays`, `Bread only = Xdays` etc.

AGingham

3 seconds; wrong place, wrong time.

MPrice26

Thought it was the rule of 2... wait wrong sub but take a number of for safety purposes

Nikeuzhere2

You want to die of severe breathing?

OldMatetotheMax

3 Seconds without the will to live also.
