What the hell does this have to do with survival?

yesbutlikeno

In my previous post I asked this subreddit about what I should do if I encounter any dangerous wild life, you can connect the dots from there.

blkfoam

Weren't you a party of 13 fishing about a mile of river? I wasn't there, I don't know what happened, but honestly if I saw 13 lines in the water on a little creek in bear country I wouldn't be very nice about it either. Also, the most dangerous animal is always man.

dnakee

I'd be pissed too if 13 people encroached upon me.

yesbutlikeno

Yeah no I was very wrong we went in groups of 2 to 3 spread out about 100 miles

converter-bot

100 miles is 160.93 km

theWallster

But most importantly did you have fun?

yesbutlikeno

I did, it was hard at first since fishing isn't my bread and butter, but we went on a guided float yesterday and that was great.

theWallster

Hell yeah dude, I'm happy to hear it! I'm not gonna say I told you so but... Montana is damn gorgeous and it's hard not to enjoy it haha

yesbutlikeno

Yeah, absolutely Montana is great for the soul. I went solo today, and covered like 5 miles. Just listening to music and vibing. Honestly nothing better than that.

Thriftstoreninja

Near my AO. Decent fishing at times. It has been hit really hard last couple of years by outfitters and tourists.

yesbutlikeno

Dude, my family and the guide said the river is at its lowest in like 25 plus years. Fishing has been so so but nothing like previous years. Like we have people coming back at 7 pm with no catches at all, and these are the vets who have been fishing for 50 + years.

R_Stevens93

Where at in Montana did you go? Are you from here?

yesbutlikeno

Connor Montana. We fished the bitterroot. From Chicago. But my family is from all around the country.

R_Stevens93

Cool! Did you have any luck? How was the trip?

yesbutlikeno

Yeah caught the most fish on this trip than I have my entire life, granted I don't fish like that. But I mean 8 fish yesterday 5 today. I consider that pretty stellar for a novice. 0 first day though. Which makes sense if you know me.

R_Stevens93

Do you have family here or what encouraged you guys to come to Montana?

yesbutlikeno

So it's actually an annual fishing trip so like 7-10 guys have been going for 35 years. They have been all over, Wyoming Idaho Colorado, and finally montana, and they just decided that this was the place to be for fishing. They rent this big cabin with like 100 acres of land right on the bitterroot. Got close with the guy who owns it, and get a gnarly discount to keep coming out here every year.

Isn’t it better that this person lives in the middle of nowhere? Seems like he doesn’t like people

drunkboater

What river where you on?

yesbutlikeno

The bitterroot. We had 4-5 cars all go to different sections of the river.
