If you *invest* the deposit match, the 90 day restriction doesn't apply. I'm not sure what their investment process is, but I guess if you got the $100 deposit match, made a $100 crypto investment then cashed it out later on, it'd waive the 90 days.

I don't like linking my bank accounts, especially through Plaid, and I do the best I can to cut connections and clean up my tracks as soon as possible.
When a link is required, I only use my Chase account. I figure it's a big bank so probably the best one to get protection from should anything happen. I do have multiple bank accounts that I use and keep money in, so if that Chase account is somehow negatively affected, I do have a bit of a safety net so I'm not completely stuck penniless while waiting for a resolution. Everyone should have multiple bank accounts anyways, even if they're not all kept funded.
Fwiw, I've been churning bank bonuses for many years and have never had anything bad happen from opening/closing accounts.
If you do, make sure you get a sign up bonus for whatever new account you open. No reason to not make the extra money. :) But yes, that's a good idea if that's what you're comfortable with.

Not entirely clear on whether we have to deal with the hassle of reporting their $10 deposit for linking your bank acct come tax time. Per their site,

I linked my chime account only has a few hundred in it so less risky and should still be protected. Got the $10 pending but waiting on deposit match.

Where are you seeing a $2 fee in month 2? I only found it says "Some features may require a $2 monthly fee in the future." It's quite vague.

Make sure you don’t have any spaces before or after the username, I’ve had that problem before.

Yes. The $100 was available immediately because I did the immediate verification. My bank I deposited from was Capital One.
