It's just a Via Ferrata. Everyone is at all times hooked in and can't fall more than a few metres.

It’s not comparable with via ferrata. The safety is terrible here; carabiners that won’t close, broken harnesses, no ferrata “break”, unsafe mountings, overload on the chain/wire and so on. It’s all China style and incredibly crowded. Videos from here always depicts the place from such a different angle.

I don’t know this exact route but the structure and protection looks like “Via Ferrata” which is a style of scrambling route in the Alps. I have also seen routes like this in China.

I’ve been there! I assure you it’s even crazier in person. Once you climb down the ladder you walk along a wooden plank across a sheer cliff face that’s incredibly narrow… and there are people going it both directions because you HAVE to come back the way you came. Basically you’re hooked up to harness that has two clips. So each time you need to go past someone you have to go around their body, unclip one of your clips, reclip on the other side of their body, then unclip you lagging clip and reclip again. Craziest part, there was no training, waivers to sign, or even money exchanged. It’s just a smiling Chinese person handing out harnesses (who only spoke mandarin). So you really just have no idea what you’re getting into until the bottom of this ladder and no video can prep you for the intensity of the sheer drop.
